2504 wlc,When I open Controller and on the General page, if I make a change and apply it that change does work. But I get a popup message say Multicast Group address should be in range of 224.0.0.0 - 239.255.225.255.
Do I need to but something in there?
We are experiencing some issues with the Apple TV and WLC. We currently have a Apple TV and iPhone same sub net connecting via Lightweight AP (different sub net) which connects to a Cisco3750 running IP Base. This connects to WAN routers managed by third party over a WAN and connects to far end Managed routers, these connect to other Cisco3750 IP Base and onto a 2504 Wireless LAN controller. We turn on Multicast globally, with IGMP snooping enabled also enable Multicast Multicast under controller (only option available on 2504) and give the device M Cast address 239.21.1.150 . The P2P blocking action is disabled. Going to Monitor Multicast we can see the Report for 224.0.0.251 and MGID. However the issue is at the Sender Receiver side the iPhone cannot see the Airplay on the iPhone that should be seen if the end to end stream is working. My focus is now on the Cisco3750's, although I do not totally understand why the device needs Multicast enabled as the Multicast Join and Group Traffic is encapsulated in the CAP WAP Tunnel is it not? Anyway I have enabled the only option "ip multicast routing distributed" and under the V LANs that connect to WLC and AP the only option available is the "ip pim passive" there is no "ip pim sparese-dense mode"
I am sure the WLC is configured correctly, but I suspect that this will not work due to the IP Base image on the 3750's not being able to run full multicast or we need to use uni cast for this solution that the 2504 does not support.
Is there way to group APs to get different profiles. I need to have some that have the 2.4GHz turned down and some wiht the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz on.

We found out that only local multicast ip address range is not passing between the sites, any other range is passing, local range is 239.0.0.0 and above.
We have two different datacenters, the internal switch is 2960S (Stacked) with 1-10 vlans and the external switch is 3560E, the external switch is adding another tag (qinq, dot1q), vlan 611, and send the packets to metro line to the other site.
on the other site we have the same configuration.
internal switch from site A is configured with igmp querier and the internal switch port on site B connected to the external switch is configured as mrotuer port.
multicast and igmp is passig between the sites, but the local multicast range is not passing, igmp filterring is configured on all port but no profile is defined and no ports are filterred, on the external switch igmp snooping is disabled.
I have 3 ASA 5510s; two of which are in production and the 3rd one is new. I inherited the two in production and was trying to configure that 3rd one using some of the existing object-group network statements. The problem is that when I try to create a range of IPs in one of the object-groups; the range command is not available. Here is one of the statements extracted from one of the production ASAs: object network REMOTE range 62.77.130.14 62.77.130.208.Both ASAs have the same image ver (asa842-k8). Is there something that I am missing to be able to enable the range option on the new ASA?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes the ASA treat an object-group with a network-object containing a range of IP addresses as a netmask? For example, I can apply this configuration without the ASA throwing any errors though the configuration calls for a 'net mask':

I found that in the documentation it requires a netmask as oppose to a range. Is this a bug in the code? I am running code version 8.0(5)23 on a 5520. If this is not a bug how does the ASA treat this type of configuration when applied to an access list? When I ran a quick packet trace and denied access from that range it looks like the ASA doesn't read that configuration properly.

This is a config for ASA 8.0. I would have expected it to work on 8.4 as well but I do run into problems. The mapping as shown in LDAP Debug and ASA Log will actually happen but it is overwritten by the "GPnoAccess" Group Policy configured locally in the Tunnel Group. From earlier works with RADIUS I would have expected the user specific Attribute to be "stronger"?

I would like to make the change to the Multicast setup so that It is multcasted and not unicasted.So I went into the controller and selected MULTICAST for AP multicast mode and entered in a multicast ip of 239.255.1.60 ( default choosen in the cisco howto's)I then test the reason for enabling the multicast and it doesnt work. The problem is that the Wireless HP printers setup to use Apples IPRINT are not able to be found. However, when I select the Multicast setting for the APs to be UNICAST the Ipads can find the Printers and print to them.What am I doing wrong with this Multicast setting? Do i need to add a Multicast address to the router?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used the wlc 5508 GUI to enable multicast in the CONTROLLER section, AP Multicast mode "Multicast" with a group address 239.1.1.1. Also in the "Multicast" section enabled Global Multicast Mode and IGMP Snooping.
My wired network is using a bsr and pim sparse-mode all around. My wlc is connected to a core 6513 L3 switch and on a neighbor L3 switch I can see a shared tree mroute entry and a source based entry for the wlc multicast group I created,

I can't ping 239.1.1.1 though from anywhere, even the wlc's gui using the ping tool.I can do an ip igmp join on a loopback and ping from a neighbor device and get a reply.
In the monitor multicast section of the gui I can see some Layer2 MGID entries and one in the Layer3 MGID section but not for the 239.1.1.1 address.How do I verify my multicast over wireless setup is working correctly?
is it possible to multicast between 2 different SSID's that are associated to 2 different VLAN's?

client machine stops DNS resolution after some time once we enable global multicast mode on WLC .websites are opening with IPs but not with DNS names .
DNS resolution starts working immediately after disabling multicast mode on wlc .
Why a 2504 Poe? If it can not be used for AP.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've bought a E3000 as replacement for my Linksys WRT350N router.Just upgraded the firmware to version Ver.1.0. 04 (build 6).I use aonTV - an austria IPTV service (Multicast via UDP) - an this worked with my old WRT350N (hw version 1) consistantly well. I hardly had to reboot the router to get the multicast stream.With E3000 I checked the option that it should not filter any multicast traffic - when I reboot the router it works for some time - but after some hours it does not work anymore? I want to watch TV via my HTPC connected via GigaBit Power to the E3000.

I rebuilt my lab controller and moved the management interface to a new subnet. Somehow, the AP Multicase Mode IP under the General Settings was removed. Afterwards, my AP's radios would reset every 2-3 minutes. After comparing my lab config to production, I noticed the IP was missing from that field. Setting the Multicast IP to 239.232.78.1 fixed the issue.

I’m having issues with enabling Apple’s AirPlay services on a relatively simple network consisting of a Cisco 881 (Advanced IP Services) and an autonomous Cisco 1142 AP. I’ve attached a diagram explaining the connectivity. I believe I have to enable IP Multicast at the router, but I’m not really sure the best/right way to do it. Also I’m not sure what/if any commands would be needed at the AP.All of the wireless clients are confirmed to be in the same subnet, so no real routing is happening etc. Also regular Internet connectivity/routing from the wireless clients is fine.

I have disabled the multicast globally from CLI. config network multicast global disabled
disabling the multicast so that i can set the access point in HREAP mode.
I'm planning to upgrade our WLC 2504 from 7.2.111.3 to 7.4.100.0 but the cisco site says "WLC Version 7.4.100.0 will need Prime Infrastructure Version 1.3 to be managed, Version 1.3 is not yet available to download at this point of time" Is it something about NCS? we have only 1 cisco WLC 2504 and 6 1142APs.. Also let me know is it possible to go directly from 7.2 to 7.4 ?

I've problem with a WLC 2504. Some Clients like phones and Thin Clients get an IP 0.0.0.0.Software Version is 7.0.235.0. Test with a Laptop seams to be OK. Some printers also got an 0.0.0.0.Around 30% are not OK. also had the log: Impersonation of AP with Base Radio MAC 00:yy:yy:yy:yy:yyusing source address of 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx has been detected by the AP with MAC Address: 00:yy:yy:yy:yy:yy on its 802.11b/g radio whose slot ID is 0 The problem is, I cannot go to 7.2 version because I have 2 x AP 1231 and 2 x 1242 AP's.1231 AP's are not anymore supported in 7.2 Version.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have two WLC 2504 controllers. These controllers are for two different buildings. But they share a VLAN, and network address range. How can I control the access points to the register selected only at a specific controller.
Example:
AP 1 -> WLC 1
AP 2 -> WLC 2
AP 3 -> WLC 1
Since the buildings also broadcast in different SSID. The two controllers are in a mobility group.
If we update our ios on WLC do we have to add the certificate for AP's again or we don't need to do that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSome time ago I updated a WLC, model 2504, from version 7.3 to 7.4.100.0. I also update the FUS (Field Upgrade Software) to the latest release, 1.8.0.0. Now I need to downgrade the WLC back to 7.3 version.
My doubt is: Can I just take the normal processes and downgrade the WLC back to 7.3, even with the FUS in version 1.8.0.0?

I've two wlc model CT5508 version 7.0.116.0. They are working fine except for the RF grouping part. When I look at the RF Group members part in the configuration, I can see only one wlc (the one I'm connected to). If I connect to the second one, in the same part, I've just one controller (so the second one..). I tried to restart the algorithm but no change. Each controller is configured with Group Mode set to auto, and their respective role are auto-leader...I tried to change the RF group name on both wlcs, but it didn't fix the problem. When I look at the logs, there is one which appear quite often:

We have 4 x 4xxx WLCs setup in our Core. I just created an AP group in one of WLC and in theory I should see that AP group in the other 3 x WLCs
For some reason, I do not see that AP group appear in other 3 x WLCs. Very much appreciated if someone could point me to the right information or trouble shooting steps.

Today we got new two WLC for Anchor use, and config the mobility group, but it's failed and cannot up, the ping is ok.
I currently have a single 2504 Controller managing 50 AP's. I am adding a Second 2504 AP Controller with 15 Lic to manage an additional 10 AP's. My current 2504 has each port configured for my four subnets that and it is managing AP's in 4 buildings. Should I configure the new 2504 the same way so that it can see all four sites? All so if the main 2504 goes down can the second 2504 take over even thou we will be out of lic?
