Cisco WAN :: MPLS For ISP Offers Managed Router 2900
May 14, 2013I wanted to get some opinions on the topic above. We are purchasing MPLS services from a large ISP and they offer a managed router option. I will also have a Cisco ISR 2900 at each site running SRST for my voice system. I have some experience with BGP and am not scared at all to support it if need be. That said, I am currently looking at pros and cons of going with a managed router from this company vs managing my own. Actually, I will manage my own regardless and would just plug it into the managed router. My router is perfectly capable of handling the BGP protocol but I am hoping that I can get some opinions from all of you.

Feb 21, 2011I use the dlink router with 12mbits internet connection. Connection with LAN wire, i get the whole 12 mbits. Via Wlan, even while standing next to the router, i only get 5-6 mbits.
I read this can be cos i send in mixed mode b/g. Is that true? How can I set to g only? I only can select "n only", "b/g mixed" and "b/g/n mixed". But I think all my devices use g.

May 9, 2012I have two SSIDs on an Autonomous Access Point, that goes to a 2960 switch, that connects to a L3 3560. I have a vlan for admin/private internal access that uses the native vlan (1) and guest vlan (50). I have configured both and I am trying to get both to go out the same Internet connection.
I cannot get the guest access to access the Internet. It looks like my computer will go, but it just comes up saying no Internet access.All interfaces are trunking this vlan properly. I can communicate from the laptop to the 3560 but I just can't get to the Internet.

Jun 4, 2013I have a 5500 controller that we use to manage our lightweight access-points. We have had complaints that the 'guest' vlan in the boardroom is not usable. Our guest vlan is in fact overloaded.
I went back to the original site survey and noticed that coverage for the room is not ideal so I would like to have a new lightweight access-point installed in the boardroom and somehow limit the access to it to only a few people.

After a period of time the entire house goes off line. I have to reboot the power on e2000 router and then disable the access restrictions. System then works. Problem is repeatable. What is the deal. I have updated firmware already. Otherwise the system works great. Never dies. Just when i set access restricions for a SPECIFIC time it kills entiore houese. Jul 27, 2011I have a new laptop that cannot access my home wireless. There are 3 other computers that can access it so I know it's working. When I work away the new laptop can access other wireless connections. But as soon as I get home it's stuck on 'acquiring network address'. The weird thing is my kindle does the same thing as does my friends iphones & ipads. They all connect wireless no problems elsewhere but cannot at my house.

Oct 24, 2011have a Cisco 5508 controller (version 6.0.199.4) that when I enable global multicast mode it will work for an hour or two and then it will kill the network. All internet both wired and wireless, access to server everything dead. I then have to directly connect to the service port and disable the global multicast mode. Then two reasons for enabling it are Docs2Go and LanSchool both require multicast to be enabled. I have it enabled on our wired network and it works OK there. ted.

Apr 30, 2012We have recently been given this unusual task. The setup is a series of CAP3502P access points, and a wireless controller (either 2500 Series or 5500 Series), as well as other standard network infrastructure.
In this network, the client (mobile/wireless) devices must be able to detect when they change what access point they are communicating through, while also requiring a seamless transition. Ie, if the client device is communicating via access point A, and displaying the application menus for A, when the user walks to the area services by access point B, it must detect that sot he application can display menus for B, without the user having to select "B".
Is there a way for the client device to detect which access point it is using and provide that to an application? Or alternatively a way for a host service residing on a server to get that information from the wireless controller?

Jul 4, 2011I have problem setting up wireless repeater using Cisco 1242AG access points. Here is the setup and problem - The location has 2 1242AG APs and a WLC (2206) which will be used by PDAs. One of the AP was converted to Lightweight AP and is wired. This AP is up and working and PDAs are able to connect to it. There is 1 WLAN and it uses Local EAP (LEAP) as authentication. Layer-2 security is configured as WPA/WPA-2 with 802.1X authentication. Under AAA servers Local-EAP is enabled and a profile (with LEAP enabled) is used. Local users are configured for login. As said PDAs are able to connect and it is working without any problem.
WLC (LEAP with local users) -----> LAP ----> Repeater AP
But the 2nd AP has to be configured as repeater was configured to repeater mode (refering to the document) and was placed. The WLC can see a client (with APs MAC address) but it is probing. The AP is still Automonous AP. Also username and password is configured for authentication. But still the radio on the AP is not up and it is in reset state.

Nov 1, 2011I have a client that has 3 AP541N's and they want to enable guest wireless access. However, their VOIP provider has their managed switches locked down so we can't add VLANs, etc.So I cannot touch the switch or router config on this LAN.
Looking into AP541N documentation I see VAPs mentioned, can I enable those and have secure guest wireless access with the same private IPs that the rest of the LAN use right now? (That is, the employees are 192.168.2.x and the guest wireless users would also be 192.168.2.x.)
Or do I need to do something else to properly enable guest wireless? Like add another piece of equipment? I did try to add a Cisco RVS4000 to the mix but it wouldn't pass the VLAN across the switches that I setup for the guest wireless SSID. goal is to leave the switch and router in place, and work with the AP541N's that I have and get secure guest wireless.

The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is only able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (PVID 1). If I plug it into one of the other VLANs then any clients connected to the WiFi lose access to the internet and cannot access devices on the VLAN. Whenver I try to establish a tunnel on SDM_CMAP_2 and run a test using CCP, I get 2 failure reasons:
1. The peer must be routed through the crypto map interface. The following peer(s) are routed through non-crypto map interface - 4.58.130.130
2. The tunnel traffic destination must be routed through the crypto map interface. The following destinations are routed through non-crypto map interface - 4.58.130.134
The tunnels on SDM_CMAP_1 are all active Do I need to include a default route for the second ISP on the router? If so, how do I get this done? When I tried it, I had loops on the user LAN segment of the network.
