Bought a month or 2 ago, configured and installed as our public access point. Worked well except for locking up weekly. A few weeks back, I lost all connectivity with it. It will get power, but no wireless and no Ethernet lights on the front. I attempted to reset it with no luck. Firmware is V01.
View 1 RepliesI tried to upgrade the firmware of my WRT350N but while upgrading my wife switched on the oven and.... yes, power down -> the upgrade has been interrupted. Now the router is no longer responding, it shows just the green power light on (not blinking). I tried all the resets I found googling (pressing the reset button for 30 sec, isconnecting power and reconnecting it again) but no way, there's no way to ping the router at its default address 192.168.1.1. All the leds are switched off (internet, usb, wireless, security) except the green power light. Is there another way to have it back or it is definitely lost?

After updating firmware to 2.0.4.2 version I am completly unable to make any changes! If I press on "Enable" or "Disable" all settings will be lost after I apply them and neither "Enabled" nor "Disabled" is selected.
Had to revert back to 2.0.2.1. Is my AP faulty?
We have about 20 of the above WAPs in our company network and are quite satisfied with the performance.However occasionally we need to manually reboot the WAPs in order to resolve sporadic connectivity issues that cannot be resolved on the client devices. In order to optimize the performance we would like to automatically restart our WAPs at a certain time (e.g. at night) on a daily or weekly basis.We are currently using WAP4410N-fw-2.0.0.5-K9.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy E3000 has been running for months without a hitch. Last night, it lost connectivity on the 2.4 GHz. I can connect on my laptop (Dell, XP) on the wireless 5 Ghz only. Wired connections (2 PCs and one video device) connect fine. All wireless equipment (laptops and LG DVD device needing 2.4 GHz) see the 2.4 GHz with good signal but will not connect. Of course, I rechecked name and passwords.
I tried the MSR restart and reboot several times, including turning things off overnight. Checked to be sure settings were not corrupted in setup.E3000 running firmware 1.0.04.
I have a new Linksys E3000, 2 wired disktops (1 windows 7, 1 windows vista), 2 wireless laptops (both windows Vista), whenever the computers power down into sleep mode and are woke up, I have lost my connections to the router and I am forced to restart the computer. I've been told by one person that this is a problem with vista and windows 7, but wouldn't that have been a problem with my old router also?

I pressed the 'reset' button on the back, configured it for my computer according to the instructions on the website, and everything worked fine for a couple of days. Then I lost connectivity, tried powercycling my modem, but had to reset and reconfigure the router again. Worked fine again for a couple of days, then the problem repeated itself, so I reset and reconfigured again.

I went ahead & updated my firmware but lost connectivity to my Comcast cable modem. I was leaving for work so I had to pull the router & revert back to my original Linksys router.zBig storm heading my way, figured the wifw ywould need internet to track Hurricane Sandy. Any others have a new firmware waiting for install this AM? Keeping my fingers corossed on this firmware upgrade. I'm hoping it solves the device map issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated the fimware on my WRT160N v3 and followed it up with a reset of the router. I then restored the router settings that I had saved. All the settings appeared to be good, but none of my wireless devices would connect. I reneted the pass phrases (WPA2) but still nothing. Tried to change the passphrase, still no good. I then did a factory reset of the router from the setiings page and manually re-entered and save the settings, again nothing. All of my devices are able to "see" the network and the correct SSID.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just connected a WRT190N v2 Wireless Router to my XPS 400. When my wife tried to connect our other desktop to the wireless network, everything seemed fine. I noticed that, when she wasn't actively browsing or using the network, her computer would lose connectivity, but regain it when a browser was opened. When I tried to use the XPS, I found that it had no connection. I regained connectivity after using the Windows Network Diagnostic tool, but neither computer seems to keep connectivity when left alone, at least for very long.

Whenever I hop in a game such as Dead Island, Arma 2 : CO (Day Z), Stalker : CoP, even Skyrim ( with SKSE, standard it ran okay. ) my connection will drop for my entire local network. I can still connect to my router, and it shows that I disconnect and reconnect with a new IP, from the logs it seems to be unprovoked. A few games will operate normally, however with Stalker, I play completely offline, and my connection still drops. It's not an instant disconnect, and it generally varies in time. However, when I'm not gaming, I get a steady connection with no issues, I get advertised speeds and can stream videos, and download perfectly fine. I've tried a USB wireless adapter to cross my motherboard off the list, and it encountered the same issue. But this problem just started occurring when I got the new computer.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn my 3750 stack switch there are more than 10 L3 vlans currently in use.In that only one vlan for example vlan 11 (we given up link directly to the nodes connected to that ports which is in vlan 11)losing connectivity for sometime and again connectivity restored.Except Vlan 11 all other vlans are working fine. When we troubleshooted the issue some of the ip's able to ping and some not able to ping. checked the interface status of that ports (no crc and input errors) and port is in up status only.we also checked cpu utlilisation ,device uptime, all are no issues found. am sharing my sw basic config and one interface status at the time of issue.But only one port learning more than 50 Mac-Addresses dynamically.and am learning mac address violation in another port which is port security and storm control enabled on that port..Its seems to be any attack or something else????

A few days ago my desktop (which is hardlined into a router) lost all connectivity. My wireless connections work fine and i have began basic troubleshooting; changing ethernet cables, taking router out of the mix, etc. Beginning to think the ethernet port on pc is going out (NIC card?). Funny thing is, it will come back intermitantly for 10 minute increments. power cycling does nothing.

A static IP address had been established through a Netgear (WNDR3300) router with an antiquated Netopia modem. Static address/Defaut gateway has always began as: 192.168..... After connection loss, reset (or so I think) IPv4 properties back to: Obtain IP address automatically and have received an IP address as: 169.254.172.83. Also have not been able to access router or modem settings/configurations page(s).

This happens regardless of her internet connection. She uses verizon at her home and accesses through my wireless router when visiting. I have owned the TL-MR3420 for about six months and never had any problems with it, 3G connection stable enough and wifi and LAN worked properly without any drops.About one week ago I started experiencing problems. Both wifi and LAN gets disabled and I need to pull the plug and do a hard reset to correct the issue. This only happens after some heavy use, many devices is connected to Wifi, streaming files over the WIfi and so on. A scenario may be the following; there are six devices back home using all using wifi. All of them are not connected at the same time, but four may be; usually three computers and one tablet. The HTPC may do some heavy videostreaming from another computer. When the streaming is over, some devices are shut down then I may lose the WIFI and LAN ability of the router.
I have tried connecting with cable after wifi were lost but no IP address where given to it and connection where refused. This means I have no possibility to access the log file in the router, and after reboot the log file is reset. Router settings is pretty much default.Is my device broken or is there any setting I may tweak with?I have updated to latest firmware and tried to change channel without success.
My daughters Studio 17 laptop lost all internet connectivity. Wired and Wireless. I have been searching all kinds of threads but don't seem to find a solution to this issue. I have done two systems recoveries to earlier dates when we know it was working to no avail. I have 3 other computers on this network and none are experiencing any issues. I did just change from DSL to cable broadband, but the computer was fine until Monday night. Not sure what is going on. Does a system recovery will undo Windows updates? The most recent updates took place on 1/4/2012, which is about the time the problem showed up. I am going to uninstall those updates, 2 Security Update for Windows, and see what happens. Stand by. No good. It didn't work. I see a lot of people who are having the same problem here recently so something must have changed.

Looking for a SOHO device that could accomplish not only to connect people from home to Internet, but also to let me remotely access my work stuff (from my home office), RV180W sounded great and really cost effective. I could connect to Internet, FROM Internet, separate home, work and guest VLANs, all in just one device... sounded just GREAT! Bought one but (unfortunately) I have to say I'm quite disappointed with its performance, outnumbered errors (how many!) and continuous lost of Internet connectivity (can't stay a full day without one).I've searched a lot (not only here) and tried many things, listing some:
- Upgrading firmware (now v1.0.2.6): done several times, once with nothing connected to the router besides a local wired laptop, to ensure integrity
- Resetting to factory defaults and performing a "clean configuration", from scratch (done several times)
- Disabling Firewall functions (once all of them)
- Checking the real need of every option and making sure I had just the ones I needed configured
I have (in a very "consistent" way) the following problems:
- Poor performance (it's clearly much better when I directly connect to the cable modem's WiFi OR to another router connected to this cable modem). I could say that it seems to have 50% of the performance I had with my CISCO/Linksys E4200 and Netgear "elder" routers.
- Persistent disconnections / resets: Sometimes it happens only with wireless, sometimes it looses the "Internet forwarding capability", retaining the local wireless connection (to other devices), sometimes it seems to make a full reboot (including a new DHCP request to cable modem). In a day this happens several times, I'd say from 3 to 15 times, depending on the day (couldn't figure out why).
CPU utilization is always shown as being 100%, what sounds amazing, because:
- There are usually just 4 wired connections (3 storage devices + 1 Desktop) and at most 5 wireless connections (including my laptop connected to the main VLAN and 3 Android devices and 1 "guest" laptop connected to GUEST VLAN)
- The utilization % remains when I have jut one laptop performing Internet browsing and nothing more
- VPN wasn't enabled yet (and it will be, as I want to remotely connect to my home office) [code] ......
I have the following equipment:
Cisco 871W router
2x WAP 4410N APs running 2.0.3.3
I currently have 1 AP connected to the router via copper. The AP to AP link is over 802.11. I have attached a diagram reflecting the current topology.
The AP-to-AP link will come up utilizing B/G/N mixed mode; however, the connection is basically unusable. About 30% of the traffic is dropped, while the packets that do make it have a consistently volatile latency, anywhere from 15 to 1500 ms. I have had success using G-only and B/G mixed. The link is stable (I have had the best results with B/G). The problem is, I didn't buy the 2nd 4410N to run the G protocol. I would like to connect the APs running either B/G/N (hopefully negotiating to N) or N only. I am wondering if there is a certain configuration I can utilize (perhaps using WDS repeater or bridge versus Wireless Client/Repeater?), or a firmware upgrade set for release that can make this happen for me.
During an update of two WAP121s to firmware version 1.0.3.4 (currently the latest) the network connection was interrupted and they both now seem to be similarly unusable. The wireless lights on both are now unlit, the ethernet lights flash when plugged in and the power lights correctly show orange (PoE) or green (mains) but the device is inaccessible at its original static IP address and is not requesting a new one by DHCP. I have tried using the reset button as instructed, pressing it in for 10 seconds with the power on, but it doesn't seem to have any effect at all. Holding the reset button in whilst powering the device up makes all lights come, the power and wireless alternate for a few seconds when the reset is released and then both go out with the ethernet light still flashing.

Last night the e4200 crashed on me when I went to reset the router I noticed the CISCO light was blinking very slowly and I had no network connection. I power cycled the router and still no connection so I hit factory reset button. Nothing happened. Did a 30/30/30 reset nothing happened. At this point I have a 34 day old plastic brick on my desk and I'm back to using my old WRT160N. how to unbrick this router?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI originally began with a WRT610N(basically the old version of the new E3000). I had been using it for a couple months, when all of a sudden I was stuck with the power light flashing, meaning the firmware was corrupted. I contacted support & they guided me through the process of trying to restore the firmware through using the tftp.exe program with no luck. Unfortunately at the time this happened, the E3000 was just being released, so they stated it could be close to a month to get a replacement WRT610N! So I decided to just go grab an E3000 from BestBuy, as I had some unused giftcards for there. I bought the E3000 & used it for literally 2 weeks, then the exact same problem! Power light flashing, firmware corrupted. Again I tried to restore the firmware with no luck. I should mention, each time I tried pinging the router after setting a static IP it resulted in a 100% packet loss, meaning the router was not even communicating with my PC. So with it being within the 30 day period, I just went & swapped it for a new one. Went and swapped for another, so I am now on my 3rd E3000 in less than a month! What could be causing this? I notice the router does get fairly hot, but i have it in a well ventilated area, so not sure what more I can do about that.This is supposed to be the highest end LinkSys router out there & I continue to have major issues with each of them. Now I do pull a lot of data through it. I have a NAS, 3 PC's, PlayStation3, Xbox 360, Wii, iPad, multiple notebooks, etc. on a 18Mbps Comcast cable connection. But shouldn't this thing handle high amounts of data? I mean it's the highest end router LinkSys makes, so what do I need to do? Buy a true Cisco router for $1,000 for home use?

After which the router was dead as a doornail.After a frustrating 3 hours of reading forums, following over 11 tutorials, and being 1 second away from throwing my WRT310N at the wall, I finally fixed it.I performed this fix on a Windows 7 32-bit PC. My provider is Comcast.Make sure you only have one ethernet cable connected from your PC to the router. The cable should be connected to any one of the 4 blue ports. I connected mine to port 1. DO NOT CONNECT IT TO THE YELLOW INTERNET PORT on the router.
With the router in your hand, hold down the reset button for 30 seconds until the port 1 light goes out then immediately disconnect the power while still holding down the reset button. DO NOT LET GO OF THE RESET BUTTON!WAIT 30 more seconds with the power disconnected. (Do not let go of the reset button)PLUG the power back in and WAIT another 30 seconds. After that, let go of the reset button. You should have held the reset button for a total of 90 seconds. This will wipe the router's nvram.Bring up the command prompt window that you prepared earlier. You should still see the ping command that you entered in Step 2. Now, hit ENTER to start pinging the router continuously. You will probably see a bunch of "request timed out" responses.Bring up the TFT2.exe window that you prepared in step 2. Press UPGRADE so it can begin communicating with the router. Make sure you set at least 10 retries.
As quickly as possible, go back to your router and HOLD the reset button and disconnect the power. You don't need to wait 30 seconds...5 seconds is enough. While stil holding the reset button down, plug the power back into the router and keep an eye on the command prompt and TFT2.exe windows.If the command prompt has successfully pinged the router, TFT2.exe will begin to flash it and very soon it will show a success message below the progress bar. If you still can't successfully ping the router, close and restart TFT2.exe using the same settings and try disconnecting/reconnecting the router's power again as mentioned in the paragraph above. You may want to try holding the reset button down longer than 5 seconds. I was able to get this to work on the FIRST TRY.Now that your router is has the proper firmware, go back to your adapter's settings (mentioned in step 4), delete the static IP and set it back to the default automatic settings.Plug your cables back in and don't forget to plug the ethernet cable from your modem to the yellow internet port on your WRT310N."Recycle" the power to your cable modem by holding down the reset for 60 seconds or disconnect it from the power outlet for 60 seconds.Reset your router by holding the reset button for 30 seconds.
I have a little problem with my new E1200. Before the E1200 I had a WRT160N that was bricked to death by a power surge due upgrading the firmware. Till that moment the WRT160N met al the required specs as told in the description..I have from my ISP a 40Mbit cable line and was always downloading at those speeds wired aswell as wireless...

just to relieve a little those who complain for the loss of functionalities/control caused by the new firmware, I want to let you know that yesterday evening when I came back home the router was bricked. After more than 2 hours of tests with the online support, they ended up the device has to be replaced.To add insult to injury, I ALSO HAVE TO PAY to ship my router to Cisco warehouse. I couldn't believe my eyes... It's not for the 10 bucks it costs the shipment (even if 10 bucks are much better in my wallet than in Cisco's), but I already spent around 300 bucks less than 2 months ago to buy the two devices and now I have to pay to fix something I have not broken.

I let the upgrade run for about 10 minutes and it just sat there and link to router disconnected I run ping for 192.168.1.1 but response is "DESTINATION HOST UNREACHABLE". The router is now completely unusable and the ALL LAN ports lights are ON and Internet light is also ON.

I had done an update of dd-wrt and lost all of my wireless adapters, they said to load open-wrt, find the caldata and write this. This all worked. But after a reboot, the deviced bricked on me .
I wanted to upgrade to the latest firmware (2.03NA). Something went wrong and now the router comes up with the orange light flashing. So the system is in emergency firmware upgrade mode. I set my IP to 192.168.0.2 and connect to the web interface at 192.168.0.1. I see a page with "Firmware Upgrade System" and "Version 1.0.0.2". So far so good. I can now select the firmware and click "send". But then nothing really happens. I can wait for a couple of minutes and then run into a timeout. I tried different browsers (Linux: Firefox, Chrome, etc). I even tried it Windows 7 with IE 8 and I get the same result. It seems that the cgi (192.168.0.1./cgi/index) is not really doing anything?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am today playing with the settings in my DIR-655 NA B1 router when I notice that a firmware upgrade is available.I clicked the button and the router automatically downloaded the file named DIR655B1_FW207NAB09.bin. I flashed it and was saying that it needed to wait 180 seconds (3 minutes) to reprogram the router after which it came up with a 404 not found on the screen. I am not able to access my router, it is bricked and I can't even re-flash the firmware comes back with Incorrect hardware ID image, Please check. I notice that the 2.07NA firmware file on the website is named DIR655B1_FW207NAB05.bin. What gives this is the first time a firmware upgrade has bricked anything I own?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI was using WAP54G in our company in AP client mode to support "wired" connection to far workstation being part of Windows Domain (it needed network connection before logging to windows). It was working fine for a year, secured with WPA. this AP client was wirelessly connected to another WAP54G unit running regular AP mode.
Today was changing configuration on "AP client" , wanted to cvheck if WPA2 is supported while in AP client mode. well it wasn't, so ireverted the config back to what it was. after power cycle device stays in "bricked mode".
it doesn't boot up, LAN port inactive (like a cable unplugged), no WiFi, only 2 LEDs are lit permamently red POWER and yellow LINK. green ACT is dead. resetting is no luck, tried resetting it multiple times holding it with device powered on or off, tried 30/30/30 method, no luck.
finally took it apart (was out of warranty anyways) and shorted pin 16 (A18) on flash chip (Spansion) while powering up and it worked to the point when LAN interface becomes operational with 192.168.1.245 IP and i get ping response.
I thought that's it, would just re-load firware (original latest 3.04.03) and done. i was wrong. device takes fw via tftp, but immediately after tha it stops responding, green ACT never comes back online, reset still do not work. after power cycle LAN port is dead (as well as device) again. what has happened to it?
