D-Link DIR-825 :: Firmware Upgrade Does Not Work / Bricked
Nov 3, 2010
I wanted to upgrade to the latest firmware (2.03NA). Something went wrong and now the router comes up with the orange light flashing. So the system is in emergency firmware upgrade mode. I set my IP to 192.168.0.2 and connect to the web interface at 192.168.0.1. I see a page with "Firmware Upgrade System" and "Version 1.0.0.2". So far so good. I can now select the firmware and click "send". But then nothing really happens. I can wait for a couple of minutes and then run into a timeout. I tried different browsers (Linux: Firefox, Chrome, etc). I even tried it Windows 7 with IE 8 and I get the same result. It seems that the cgi (192.168.0.1./cgi/index) is not really doing anything?
I tried to upgrade the firmware of my WRT350N but while upgrading my wife switched on the oven and.... yes, power down -> the upgrade has been interrupted. Now the router is no longer responding, it shows just the green power light on (not blinking). I tried all the resets I found googling (pressing the reset button for 30 sec, isconnecting power and reconnecting it again) but no way, there's no way to ping the router at its default address 192.168.1.1. All the leds are switched off (internet, usb, wireless, security) except the green power light. Is there another way to have it back or it is definitely lost?
I am today playing with the settings in my DIR-655 NA B1 router when I notice that a firmware upgrade is available.I clicked the button and the router automatically downloaded the file named DIR655B1_FW207NAB09.bin. I flashed it and was saying that it needed to wait 180 seconds (3 minutes) to reprogram the router after which it came up with a 404 not found on the screen. I am not able to access my router, it is bricked and I can't even re-flash the firmware comes back with Incorrect hardware ID image, Please check. I notice that the 2.07NA firmware file on the website is named DIR655B1_FW207NAB05.bin. What gives this is the first time a firmware upgrade has bricked anything I own?

my TP-Link USB Controller after my latest firmware upgrade, and therefor my USB-printer (connected to the router) do not function any more, and i can not find a new software for the Controller
I have a little problem with my new E1200. Before the E1200 I had a WRT160N that was bricked to death by a power surge due upgrading the firmware. Till that moment the WRT160N met al the required specs as told in the description..I have from my ISP a 40Mbit cable line and was always downloading at those speeds wired aswell as wireless...
Now with the E1200 I get the 40Mbit only wired... wireless it only allows it up to max. 20Mbit.I figured that I didn't do anything different than the Linksys I had before..I'm working with a MacBook from late 2007 running OSX Lion 10.7.2, Built-in AirPort Extreme card (802.11a/b/g/n)My wireless setting with a WP2 Personal Security Mode
During an update of two WAP121s to firmware version 1.0.3.4 (currently the latest) the network connection was interrupted and they both now seem to be similarly unusable. The wireless lights on both are now unlit, the ethernet lights flash when plugged in and the power lights correctly show orange (PoE) or green (mains) but the device is inaccessible at its original static IP address and is not requesting a new one by DHCP. I have tried using the reset button as instructed, pressing it in for 10 seconds with the power on, but it doesn't seem to have any effect at all. Holding the reset button in whilst powering the device up makes all lights come, the power and wireless alternate for a few seconds when the reset is released and then both go out with the ethernet light still flashing.
just to relieve a little those who complain for the loss of functionalities/control caused by the new firmware, I want to let you know that yesterday evening when I came back home the router was bricked. After more than 2 hours of tests with the online support, they ended up the device has to be replaced. To add insult to injury, I ALSO HAVE TO PAY to ship my router to Cisco warehouse. I couldn't believe my eyes... It's not for the 10 bucks it costs the shipment (even if 10 bucks are much better in my wallet than in Cisco's), but I already spent around 300 bucks less than 2 months ago to buy the two devices and now I have to pay to fix something I have not broken.
I have a Dir-655 A3 with the firmware 1.32NA. I cannot get the new firmware 1.35NA to take. The router seems to go through the motions of the upgrade, but at the end, when I log back on, the firmware still says 1.32NA & all custom settings remain.I have upgraded the firmware on this router before and I know that when its upgraded, the router is basically reset to factory settings. All the settings have been backed up and I am attempting this upgrade via a wired connection.
I have a DIR-655 Rev A4.I followed this forum in the past when there were many problems with firmware upgrades beyon 1.21. Because of this I never upgraded and was told to be satisfied that I can still stay with 1.21 as upgrades caused problems for a number of people.Everything still seems fine with 1.21 except the Shareport utility often does not pickup the printer connection upon booting to Windows Vista. I can always work around this by Disable and then Enable. It will then always find the printer. It is a minor annoyance however.Should I still stay with 1.21 or is upgrading to 1.35 NA recommended ? If I upgrade to 1.35 NA is there a downgrade path back to 1.21 if the upgrade does not work well ?
Have the DIR-655 Hardware Version A1. Firmware 1.00NA dated Feb 2010. When I try to upload ANY firmware update from the DLINK site, it says that it is not for that device or is corrupt.
I have the DIR-655 . I decided to do a firmware update to Firmware Version: 1.35NA and now I having a problem connecting remotely from outside the network to a computer on my LAN. I use a software called Radmin to connect to one of my LAN computers behind the DIR-655 router and now since I did the update I cannot connect because the router is blocking the request, here is the router log info
I have a DIR-615 Ver. C1 f/w3.00. We have been having trouble with the the signal becoming weak or non-existent, so I decided to see if a firmware upgrade would solve the problem. I have attempted to upgrade to DIR615C1C2_FW301B11.bin and to DIR615C1_FW313NAB09.bin with the same result for both of them - with several attempts for each.
The message I get is: "The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.
If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can upload new firmware.
The Gateway will not be reprogrammed."
I have disconnected all other devices to reduce traffic, I have attempted the upload multiple times for 3.01 and 3.13NA, I am logged in as the admin, and I believe the files are proper for this hardware version.
Is there something I am missing that prevents me from performing a firmware upgrade?
I have bricked my DIR-825 when performing an upgrade of DD-WRT. Now I am not able to go on to the Recovery Web page. ( 192.168.0.1 ) after performing the 30/30/30 rule, wich always worked before.
I had done an update of dd-wrt and lost all of my wireless adapters, they said to load open-wrt, find the caldata and write this. This all worked. But after a reboot, the deviced bricked on me .
Well this one should be in the "Firmware DOs and DONTs" post. I updated to FW 1.11 over wifi and apparently this will corrupt the camera so it needs serviving. Would have been nice to know that before I did it. Since the upgrade from 1.02 1030 I get this note:The throughput of the SD Card on your camera is not currently enough for recording. We suggest you to reformat the SD Card or replace it with a higher class one.
I hope that we can get this DIR-825 back from the dead. I did the first portion of the 2.05NA upgrade while wired into LAN1 on the unit, after the reboot the power light went Amber and the unit would no longer respond to pings. I have searched around for various reset methods but have not been able to find a guide or a definitive current D-Link tech manual on how to fix a bad flash. I have tried pinging/arping/web browsing its default IP and the IP I had it set to to no avail.
Last week I upgraded the firmware to 1.13NA and ever since, the wireless network has been slooooooow (wired is fine). If the laptop/ipad/phone is in the same room as the router, things are fine. Anywhere else in the house, the speed drops off to almost nothing even though the signal strength is very good. For example: Under the "Speed" section of my "Wireless Network Connection Status" on my laptop, I'm seeing 150.0Mbps in the same room as the router, 25.0 Mbps in the hallway and 1.0 Mbps about 5 steps further away. All the while, the signal strength is showing Excellent.Speakeasy speedtest: Wired 23.36 Mbps, wireless at the end of the hallway, .12 Mbps.
Why the access controls don't work in firmware 2.07? I have some sites game sites disabled in my DIR-655. When I upgraded the firmware to 2.07, the router just didn't work until I removed all the access controls features that I had enabled. I started over, downgraded to 2.03, re-upgraded to 2.07, didn't bring in my saved settings, had everything with factory defaults. I then created one policy in access controls and added it to schedule, and bingo, the router didn't work after that.
I would upgrade the firmware before deciding to replace router with a new one. I noticed there have been several updates to the firmware since I originally installed the router with the current available firmware version of 1.35NA.
I tried to download the latest firmware from this page (V4) [URL] I press browse button from web interface, I select wr641gv4-en-up.bin and I press Upgrade but nothings happened. I read on other forums this router have 1MB internal memory and wr641gv4-en-up.bin have 1.07MB.

I've downloaded the firmware update 111125 and followed the instructions. The progress bar reaches 100% but the router doesn't seem to restart (judging by the status lights on the front). It does ask me to log back in but when I check the firmware version, it still reads 100722. I also tried factory default settings after the update. Still it reads 100722. I've tried the update 3 times now.
I just got my DIR 825. It had 2.02NA Firmware in it. It had a few options that I wanted to use but didn't work. So I thought I would update firmware. I follow the instruction from dlink to install firmware. So I loaded 2.03 and noticed internet connection not working. So then I loaded 2.05 part1 and part2. Still could get internet connection to work but the reason to upgrade the option I wanted worked. So then I loaded 2.06 and still same result. No internet connection. So then I loaded the original firmware back in and internet connection works. Why doesn't the internet work on the other firmware updates. I got the updates from dlink website. I would like to update firmware
I've tried to upgrade firmware through chrome, but chrome abruptly shut down during upgrade.Since that, I have not even loggin set-up menu which should be shown up putting 192.168.0.1 to make it back. Amber light is just blinking on Power lamp.
first one had to get rid of because just wouldn't work with a 3CX server, anyway, I have a DIR-655 A4 factory shipped with 1.32NA I am trying to update the firmware to 1.34NA but it will not let me. It keeps saying Code:
I have a DCS-942L. Everything was working fine on my setup until I upgraded the firmware the other day. In the mydlink.com website when I logged in that day, it stated a firmware upgraded was needed. So I clicked on upgrade, let it run its thing and then tried to view the playback and now the thumbnails are just black and when I click on one, it looks like it is loading but then shows the quicktime icon with a question mark over it. I upgraded my Quicktime component and that didn't fix it either. So I went into advanced settings, downloaded the new firmware upgrade from there by saving the zip file and uploading it via the advanced settings website, and still nothing. I have another camera, same setup, that I have not upgraded firmware on yet and that playback is working fine.

I had it all working fine, then I wanted to upgrade the firmware. The original firmware was 3-14-4. I downloaded and applied the 3-15-4 firmware. Now when it powers on the power light is on all the time. Immediately the sys, 4, 3, 2, 1, Internet, usb and wps lights flash once. Then about 5 seconds later the 4, 3, 2, 1 & Internet lights flash once, then a second later the cycle starts again. When I connect it to the PC it starts to make a connection on the NIC, but then the router resets. Model: TL-WR1042ND, Ver 1.3 . Is there a way to reset the firmware or get it working again?
I recently upgraded my DIR-655 to firmware version 2.10NA , 17, Oct, 2012.Ever since the upgrade, on a wired connection the router will occasionally not serve pages. This shows up as a DNS error, stating the DNS lookup failed. If I wait a bit and reload the page, it will sometimes resolve itself. If I bypass the router and plug directly into the modem, the problem goes away completely. This is happening on my MacBook Pro, OS X 10.7.5, any browser (I use Chrome mostly, but also Safari and Firefox have the same issue). This is not happening on my Linux laptop which I use wirelessly, or my iPhone or any of my wireless clients, though the same MacBook occasionally has trouble connecting if I DO try to use it wirelessly (I receive a connection timeout and cannot log on). I'm not certain at this point if the trouble is with the router or the computer, but it only began happening (and happened immediately) after I installed the most recent firmware.
My security setup, if for any reason it matters, is WPA2 with MAC address filtering.
So let me start by saying that i'm stupid, as i did not 1st read the manual properly and thus upgraded my camera WIRELESS.. (when manual clearly states by cable ONLY).
Camera is now DEAD. Only red led light is flashing.
Hardreboot not working (pushing reset, then switching on camera & hold reset for 30 secs)
Is there anything else that i can do myself or is this gonna be a repair job?
