Lost Internet Connectivity After Shady Download?

Internet connection was lost after a recent program download that some had flagged with suspcious nature. A static IP address had been established through a Netgear (WNDR3300) router with an antiquated Netopia modem. Static address/Defaut gateway has always began as: 192.168..... After connection loss, reset (or so I think) IPv4 properties back to: Obtain IP address automatically and have received an IP address as: 169.254.172.83. Also have not been able to access router or modem settings/configurations page(s).

My mother's computer periodically loses internet connectivity. This happens regardless of the browser (IE or Firefox). She must restart her computer to get access again. This happens regardless of her internet connection. She uses verizon at her home and accesses through my wireless router when visiting. This also happens if she is on a public access network such as a hospital

My daughters Studio 17 laptop lost all internet connectivity. Wired and Wireless. I have been searching all kinds of threads but don't seem to find a solution to this issue. I have done two systems recoveries to earlier dates when we know it was working to no avail. I have 3 other computers on this network and none are experiencing any issues. I did just change from DSL to cable broadband, but the computer was fine until Monday night. Not sure what is going on. Does a system recovery will undo Windows updates? The most recent updates took place on 1/4/2012, which is about the time the problem showed up. I am going to uninstall those updates, 2 Security Update for Windows, and see what happens. Stand by. No good. It didn't work. I see a lot of people who are having the same problem here recently so something must have changed.

Looking for a SOHO device that could accomplish not only to connect people from home to Internet, but also to let me remotely access my work stuff (from my home office), RV180W sounded great and really cost effective. I could connect to Internet, FROM Internet, separate home, work and guest VLANs, all in just one device... sounded just GREAT! Bought one but (unfortunately) I have to say I'm quite disappointed with its performance, outnumbered errors (how many!) and continuous lost of Internet connectivity (can't stay a full day without one).I've searched a lot (not only here) and tried many things, listing some:
- Upgrading firmware (now v1.0.2.6): done several times, once with nothing connected to the router besides a local wired laptop, to ensure integrity
- Resetting to factory defaults and performing a "clean configuration", from scratch (done several times)
- Disabling Firewall functions (once all of them)
- Checking the real need of every option and making sure I had just the ones I needed configured
I have (in a very "consistent" way) the following problems:
- Poor performance (it's clearly much better when I directly connect to the cable modem's WiFi OR to another router connected to this cable modem). I could say that it seems to have 50% of the performance I had with my CISCO/Linksys E4200 and Netgear "elder" routers.
- Persistent disconnections / resets: Sometimes it happens only with wireless, sometimes it looses the "Internet forwarding capability", retaining the local wireless connection (to other devices), sometimes it seems to make a full reboot (including a new DHCP request to cable modem). In a day this happens several times, I'd say from 3 to 15 times, depending on the day (couldn't figure out why).
CPU utilization is always shown as being 100%, what sounds amazing, because:
- There are usually just 4 wired connections (3 storage devices + 1 Desktop) and at most 5 wireless connections (including my laptop connected to the main VLAN and 3 Android devices and 1 "guest" laptop connected to GUEST VLAN)
- The utilization % remains when I have jut one laptop performing Internet browsing and nothing more
- VPN wasn't enabled yet (and it will be, as I want to remotely connect to my home office) [code] ......

I recently upgraded to a new computer, it runs beautifully as expected however I encounter this problem with gaming. Whenever I hop in a game such as Dead Island, Arma 2 : CO (Day Z), Stalker : CoP, even Skyrim ( with SKSE, standard it ran okay. ) my connection will drop for my entire local network. I can still connect to my router, and it shows that I disconnect and reconnect with a new IP, from the logs it seems to be unprovoked. A few games will operate normally, however with Stalker, I play completely offline, and my connection still drops. It's not an instant disconnect, and it generally varies in time. However, when I'm not gaming, I get a steady connection with no issues, I get advertised speeds and can stream videos, and download perfectly fine. I've tried a USB wireless adapter to cross my motherboard off the list, and it encountered the same issue. But this problem just started occurring when I got the new computer.

Yesterday after downloading something my internet disconnected from my desktop. However, the internet works fine on any other computer in the house. I'm assuming it's some sort of virus or something...I ran McAfee and it found nothing. When I tried connecting yesterday, it gave me all kinds of different reasons why it wasn't connecting when I diagnosed it. Now however, when I try to connect to it, it says the network key is incorrect, which it isn't.

A few days ago my desktop (which is hardlined into a router) lost all connectivity. My wireless connections work fine and i have began basic troubleshooting; changing ethernet cables, taking router out of the mix, etc. Beginning to think the ethernet port on pc is going out (NIC card?). Funny thing is, it will come back intermitantly for 10 minute increments. power cycling does nothing.

I have a L2L IPSEC tunnel between a set of failover pair of two ASA5510's and a single ASA5505. Over time they will loose connectivity through the tunnel. The tunnel itself stays up, but cannot pass any traffic.When looking at the tunnel I always see this on the set of 5510's (marked in bold @ IPSEC ID 3)?

In my 3750 stack switch there are more than 10 L3 vlans currently in use.In that only one vlan for example vlan 11 (we given up link directly to the nodes connected to that ports which is in vlan 11)losing connectivity for sometime and again connectivity restored.Except Vlan 11 all other vlans are working fine. When we troubleshooted the issue some of the ip's able to ping and some not able to ping. checked the interface status of that ports (no crc and input errors) and port is in up status only.we also checked cpu utlilisation ,device uptime, all are no issues found. am sharing my sw basic config and one interface status at the time of issue.But only one port learning more than 50 Mac-Addresses dynamically.and am learning mac address violation in another port which is port security and storm control enabled on that port..Its seems to be any attack or something else????

I also just discovered a Trojan Horse Dropper in the BSTQBackA file. Did I mention I know nothing about this tech stuff? Norton states some files cannot be healed?

I have owned the TL-MR3420 for about six months and never had any problems with it, 3G connection stable enough and wifi and LAN worked properly without any drops.About one week ago I started experiencing problems. Both wifi and LAN gets disabled and I need to pull the plug and do a hard reset to correct the issue. This only happens after some heavy use, many devices is connected to Wifi, streaming files over the WIfi and so on. A scenario may be the following; there are six devices back home using all using wifi. All of them are not connected at the same time, but four may be; usually three computers and one tablet. The HTPC may do some heavy videostreaming from another computer. When the streaming is over, some devices are shut down then I may lose the WIFI and LAN ability of the router.
I have tried connecting with cable after wifi were lost but no IP address where given to it and connection where refused. This means I have no possibility to access the log file in the router, and after reboot the log file is reset. Router settings is pretty much default.Is my device broken or is there any setting I may tweak with?I have updated to latest firmware and tried to change channel without success.

My E3000 has been running for months without a hitch. Last night, it lost connectivity on the 2.4 GHz. I can connect on my laptop (Dell, XP) on the wireless 5 Ghz only. Wired connections (2 PCs and one video device) connect fine. All wireless equipment (laptops and LG DVD device needing 2.4 GHz) see the 2.4 GHz with good signal but will not connect. Of course, I rechecked name and passwords.
I tried the MSR restart and reboot several times, including turning things off overnight. Checked to be sure settings were not corrupted in setup.E3000 running firmware 1.0.04.

Bought a month or 2 ago, configured and installed as our public access point. Worked well except for locking up weekly. A few weeks back, I lost all connectivity with it. It will get power, but no wireless and no Ethernet lights on the front. I attempted to reset it with no luck. Firmware is V01.

I have a new Linksys E3000, 2 wired disktops (1 windows 7, 1 windows vista), 2 wireless laptops (both windows Vista), whenever the computers power down into sleep mode and are woke up, I have lost my connections to the router and I am forced to restart the computer. I've been told by one person that this is a problem with vista and windows 7, but wouldn't that have been a problem with my old router also?

I recently set up a wrt54g router that I got used from a friend. I pressed the 'reset' button on the back, configured it for my computer according to the instructions on the website, and everything worked fine for a couple of days. Then I lost connectivity, tried powercycling my modem, but had to reset and reconfigure the router again. Worked fine again for a couple of days, then the problem repeated itself, so I reset and reconfigured again.

Noticed this AM that a new firmware was releaesed to my EA6500!! Very surprised to find it Monday AM. I went ahead & updated my firmware but lost connectivity to my Comcast cable modem. I was leaving for work so I had to pull the router & revert back to my original Linksys router.zBig storm heading my way, figured the wifw ywould need internet to track Hurricane Sandy. Any others have a new firmware waiting for install this AM? Keeping my fingers corossed on this firmware upgrade. I'm hoping it solves the device map issue.

I updated the fimware on my WRT160N v3 and followed it up with a reset of the router. I then restored the router settings that I had saved. All the settings appeared to be good, but none of my wireless devices would connect. I reneted the pass phrases (WPA2) but still nothing. Tried to change the passphrase, still no good. I then did a factory reset of the router from the setiings page and manually re-entered and save the settings, again nothing. All of my devices are able to "see" the network and the correct SSID.

I just connected a WRT190N v2 Wireless Router to my XPS 400. When my wife tried to connect our other desktop to the wireless network, everything seemed fine. I noticed that, when she wasn't actively browsing or using the network, her computer would lose connectivity, but regain it when a browser was opened. When I tried to use the XPS, I found that it had no connection. I regained connectivity after using the Windows Network Diagnostic tool, but neither computer seems to keep connectivity when left alone, at least for very long.

My laptop is not connecting to the internet, I know that it is not a router problem as my mine PC and Notebook are connecting with no issues.I have removed all router devices as had an new once once it was last working.I tried this morning to set it up again without success. I have compared to setting with my pc and have found the difference is with the IPV6 connectivity.

The computer lost internet connections. Other computers in the house are fine with wireless and the direct connection.This computer I am working on is the one directly connected (not wireless).I tried the connection on other computers and it works.When troubleshooting, it indicates it lost the drivers so we downloaded the correct drivers and installed them on the computer. It indicates it has the updated drivers now. Funny thing is when you start of the computer the error message on the screen is Installation or Upgrade Error A problem occurred during the upgrade process.you must restart your computer. After it restarts, the Webroot upgrade resumes.I am concerned as my daughters computer has the same error message but her Internet connection still works.Seemed to me that Webroot could be a potential problem. Since we can't download the latest version (no internet and can't use disc we have as it tells us it is outdated) I tried to uninstall using WMPinfo.xml to finish the uninstall.I got an error that indicated - "The InstallAware Wizard for Webroot Software has failed: "WRConsumerService stop failed with error 2 and kill failed with error 128". If you continue to have trouble, please click the link below for assistance. And the link is titled Uninstall but without internet it is worthless. I was trying to browse the internet earlier, and I randomly just lost my internet connection. My homepage loaded up just fine, but then I tried to go to another site. It was taking a while to load. After about a minute a page finally came up that said "Server not found" (I use firefox). I can't get on any websites now and I can't get internet on any of my wireless devices either. When I right clicked my network icon on the toolbar and clicked on diagnose and repair it said "There may be a problem with the DNS. Windows attempted to find the well known host www.microsoft.com using dns. The server responded that the name was unknown." I have Windows Vista. Now I have no idea what I could have done. I didn't do anything out of the normal, just tried to go to a website that I frequently visit with no problems and this happened. This is what I get when I type ipconfig/all in cmd prompt. [code]

A week ago this laptop was working fine. However, now it will not connect via wireless to the internet. It says that it connects to the router but not the internet. I can connect to the internet if I use the wired LAN connection. I tried a restore to two weeks ago (when it was working) and it did not solve the problem. I do see in the wireless network connection status that IPv4 connectivity = local and IPv6 connectivity = local. While on another laptop (that is working and connects to the same wireless router) the IPv4 = internet and IPv6 = no network access. I think this may be the issue, but am unable to find out how to change them.

I dont have an internet connection through my computer. This one tells me error 106. I have 3 computers hooked through the same router. So, I know I have internet, as I am writing this now. But for some reason, that computer is now telling me I lost the internet connection. I have tried unplugging everything, restarting the computer, and nothing has worked. Implement the procedures required so that machine 1 and machine 2 can communicate statically with one another. Outline the TCP/IP settings to be used on each of the machines and set this machine up accordingly.
I followed this guide [TUT] Setting a static internal IP (Windows and Linux)but what has happened is that now the two machines can't connect to the internet.
