During Download / Upload Test In UTorrent Program It Claims Port Is Not Open (17690)
May 20, 2011when doing the downloadupload test in UTorrent program it claims my port is not open (Default 17690). After I plugged my machine directly to the modem (suspect of port forwarding not working), after removing the antivirus I have, and after adding to my firewall inbounds rule regarding to that port, I still fail on the test.

Nov 16, 2011Yesterday after downloading something my internet disconnected from my desktop. However, the internet works fine on any other computer in the house. I'm assuming it's some sort of virus or something...I ran McAfee and it found nothing. When I tried connecting yesterday, it gave me all kinds of different reasons why it wasn't connecting when I diagnosed it. Now however, when I try to connect to it, it says the network key is incorrect, which it isn't.

A static IP address had been established through a Netgear (WNDR3300) router with an antiquated Netopia modem. Static address/Defaut gateway has always began as: 192.168..... After connection loss, reset (or so I think) IPv4 properties back to: Obtain IP address automatically and have received an IP address as: 169.254.172.83. Also have not been able to access router or modem settings/configurations page(s).

Jul 21, 2011Yesterday we had a very brief power outage and until then everything worked fine. Small business that runs modem - router - switch. Since the power outage I can only get internet if I run straight into the modem. As soon as I run from the modem to any (tried 3 different ones) router I lose internet. I get a wireless signal on my router. I've reset the router to default settings. I've plugged in another router to the modem to check and I don't get anything from that router either (which was not plugged in during the power outage).

Jan 31, 2011I've got a bit of a weird situation here as soon as I switch on my desktop pc my wireless connection is lost. This is only the desktop pc, I aso have a HTPC on wire, this one doesn't have any problems. If my wireless fails, my wired clients can still go on the internet. (see for detail the drawing at the bottom of this post).
The other weird thing is as soon as I set my wireless to WPA-TKIP there are no problems, but my wireless is set to WPA-AES due to the wireless N standard.
I also noticed as soon as my wireless drops out the router starts changing channels.
Part of my network is DHCP (in the range of 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199) the other part has fixed adresses (192.168.0.251, 192.168.0.253, 192.168.0.254)
What i've tried thusfar
- other firmware
- replaced cables
- rebooting/restarting router
- setting up from factory defaults
D-Link DIR-655 :: Lost Network Security Key - Password Not Accepted
Jul 23, 2011I got a D-Link router not too long ago and I set it up in an odd way, the router password I gave it during the setup would not be accepted but the Network Security Key (the randomly generated alphaneumeric code) was accepted. I used it to connect all of my wifi devices.
The router password (which doesn't work), the "network name (SSID)", the network security type, and the network security key were all saved on my desktop. My computer has since suffered a critical crash and had to have it's hard drive erased. I still remember the password, the network name, and the security type. But the NSK (the thing I need to connect in place of a password) has been lost. It was this long random string of letters and numbers that I couldn't remember for the life of me.
I also remembered my Admin password, so I am able to log into http://192.168.0.1, but in here I only know how to change the regular password. I don't know how to access or change the NSK. change the security setting so that I can use the actual password instead of the NSK? Because of the crash I lost my iTunes libraries so I'm going to have to reset all my iOS devices, which are primarily what I use wifi on. If I reset them, they'll forget the wifi network and the assosiated NSK password, so I won't be able to use wifi at all.

I have owned the TL-MR3420 for about six months and never had any problems with it, 3G connection stable enough and wifi and LAN worked properly without any drops.About one week ago I started experiencing problems. Both wifi and LAN gets disabled and I need to pull the plug and do a hard reset to correct the issue. This only happens after some heavy use, many devices is connected to Wifi, streaming files over the WIfi and so on. A scenario may be the following; there are six devices back home using all using wifi. All of them are not connected at the same time, but four may be; usually three computers and one tablet. The HTPC may do some heavy videostreaming from another computer. When the streaming is over, some devices are shut down then I may lose the WIFI and LAN ability of the router.
I have tried connecting with cable after wifi were lost but no IP address where given to it and connection where refused. This means I have no possibility to access the log file in the router, and after reboot the log file is reset. Router settings is pretty much default.Is my device broken or is there any setting I may tweak with?I have updated to latest firmware and tried to change channel without success.

Sep 5, 2011I use a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Wireless-N PCI adapter on my Windows XP Home SP3 desktop computer that has been working flawlessly for months, until last night when it suddenly stopped being able to connect.I was just on the web last night doing what I normally do, and all of a sudden out of no where I lost internet connection and I couldn't get it back. I've tried resetting the router downstairs, I've tried restarting and shutting down the computer, and did three system restores (that all failed anyway), and none of these things are getting my connection back. Now also for some reason I can't even open up my network adapter's wireless network manager anymore because it closes itself not even a second after I boot it up.The modem and router downstairs look perfectly fine and all the other computers in the house, even the laptops, can all connect but mine, so something must be up with my network adapter.

Recently my router have been experiencing an issue with internet connectivity with Unifi.I will be able to connect to Unifi, the status is "Connected". However after some time though, like 5 - 10 mins, I will be no longer able to browser any pages or get disconnected from online games. Checking through ping tests, I can see that I am unable to get a response. Checking the router shows that I am still connected to Unifi. After a minute or so the connectivity is restored, but the issue happens again as before. This happens with both wireless and cable. Attached is a sample of the ping test result.
Things I have tried:
Updating the firmware to the latest version
Re-configuring the modem
Re-setting the Unif credentials in the router
Downgrading the firmware

Mar 20, 2011Just bought a new DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router 3 days ago. Have 5MB fiber and consistently receive 4.7-5.0MB when connected directly to my laptop (windows XP, Dell wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-card, 802.11g only). I followed the CD instruction to set up the router and when connected wirelessly I consistently get 2.4 - 2.7 MB. When I connect a cable from the router to my laptop, I get the 4.7 - 5.0MB that I get when connected directly. I've tried a second laptop (Vista, 802.11g only) and when connected wirelessly I get 4.7-5.0 MB. A friend of mine who has a laptop (Windows 7, g/n) also connected at 4.7-5.0 MB.
