Cisco Wireless :: Can Setup White-list On WLC 2504
Jul 12, 2012We have enabled web Auth for our public access on Cisco WLC 2504. It works fine. However, if a wireless user opens his email with download pictures website, he can’t get the picture download until he accept the web policy. Our users complaint about that.
"Our application makes requests to the internet to check for and download pictures, etc. The problem is that web requests are not permitted until a user has opened his/her web browser and attempted to go somewhere (e.g. google) so that your security system can redirect them to the authorization form where they must click the “accept” button. If the user has not done this yet, any functionality in our app that requires an internet connection won’t work because the security system is blocking the requests. Unfortunately, since they’re not in a web browser at the time, it doesn’t redirect them to the authorization page - the request simply fails since a redirect doesn’t have an effect on the application like it would a web browser. My remedy would be, if possible, to whitelist web requests to the server(s) where our code and/or images will live and let them get around that restriction. Otherwise, users won’t understand why the app isn’t working unless they try and open a web browser first – which is probably not something I’d expect them to do. With this solution, you could still ensure that nobody is accessing the internet at large without accepting your terms – but they could access your website as well as our application’s functionality seamlessly."
Can we setup whitelist or something like that on WLC?

You are able to connect (get ip address from controller) and the browser gets redirected to 1.1.1.1 but then page can not be displayed instead of the login page.

Sep 8, 2010I have on my desk a WLC-5508 that I need to setup to ship to a remote location. Normally we configure 4402 model and this model/version appears to be much different. I am trying to configure just enough via the command line to access the GUI via a laptop directly connected to the device. I’ve gone through the Wizard Configuration Tool where you set the hostname, admin account, and management interface (among other things). We use LAG and tagged VLAN on the management interface. I’ve been told in the past this is how we configured the 4402 models via laptop directly connected once the GUI is accessible, but with LAG enabled I don’t understand how a laptop could communicate via trunk, so I've disabled LAG and set the VLAN to untagged. In either case the laptop does not communicate with the WLC. Skipping ahead to my current setup I see the following information via the CLI:

Cisco Wireless :: DHCP Error With WLC 2504 And Aironet 2600 Setup Across Subnets
Apr 2, 2013I have just setup a new WLC 2504 controller to manage a WiFi service that will span 6 geographic locations. The local networks at each location are on different subnets (all 192.168.x.x) and are linked up via IPSEC VPN links, and there is Active Directory spanning the sites, with DNS and DHCP servers running at each location.
I tested the WLC at our main office with a single AP, and it worked fine. The AP set itself up, and wireless devices connect with no probs. Great! Yesterday I headed out to one of our remote sites, and connected an AP to their network - and that seemed to work fine too. Within a few minutes I was able to see the WiFi network I'd setup, and my smartphone connected to it straight away (as I'd rpeviously connected at the main office), so I was pretty happy that all was working well.
This morning however I've had notification that wifi performance at the remote site isn't great. I've got someone to check their ip address, and I've found that their IP address and default gateway match the LAN at the main office where the WLC is based - NOT the LAN where the wireless client is. Obvioulsy this is not ideal!
(I guess I HAVE done something wrong!?). And how can I get wireless clients at remote sites to pick up an IP from the DHCP server at THEIR site?

I would prefer to connect the WLC Guest port to an ASA 5510 and the WLC Staff port to an internal 2960S switch. Will this work? I haven't setup a 2500 series controller previously.

How do I tell it how far back I want to keep logs, or how many log files to keep before deleting the older ones? Seems like it will just keep on saving the config backups with a date stamp until the TFTP server runs out of disk space.

Apr 29, 2012I have been working with the 871 router and configuring it for work at home users. Now we are purchasing and using the 881's instead. I noticed that after write erasing the router, I need to run the command in the global config "license boot module c880-data level advipservices" just have eigrp.However when I type show license, I get the following:

There is more but I left it out. However it shows that the advipservices license has only 8 weeks and 3 days left.What is this? I thought that when I buy a brand new router, I should get everything, including IOS licenses. So I would like to know is this a new licensing scheme and how does it get register and how do I get it so that the advipservices license is permanent?

Dec 21, 2011I am trying to assign a static ip and default gateway to my LAP through the CLI, but after I reboot it, I lose the config and it reverts back to dhcp. Is there any command to save the config to the AP through the CLI? I've tried all I can think of (i.e. wr mem, copy run start, etc...) and have looked throught the available commands but cannot figure out a way to do it..

Aug 29, 2012I've problem with a WLC 2504. Some Clients like phones and Thin Clients get an IP 0.0.0.0.Software Version is 7.0.235.0. Test with a Laptop seams to be OK. Some printers also got an 0.0.0.0.Around 30% are not OK. also had the log: Impersonation of AP with Base Radio MAC 00:yy:yy:yy:yy:yyusing source address of 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx has been detected by the AP with MAC Address: 00:yy:yy:yy:yy:yy on its 802.11b/g radio whose slot ID is 0 The problem is, I cannot go to 7.2 version because I have 2 x AP 1231 and 2 x 1242 AP's.1231 AP's are not anymore supported in 7.2 Version.

Example:
AP 1 -> WLC 1

Since the buildings also broadcast in different SSID. The two controllers are in a mobility group.

My doubt is: Can I just take the normal processes and downgrade the WLC back to 7.3, even with the FUS in version 1.8.0.0?

All so if the main 2504 goes down can the second 2504 take over even thou we will be out of lic?
