I have a wireless deployment using a 5508 controller and 90+ LAP1142N lightweight access points.Everything is going relatively well, except I have about 3 that do not keep their config (hostname and AP group) past a reboot of the access point. When they do come up after a reboot, they go back to the default hostname of the mac address and are placed in the default-group AP group.
I am having difficulties saving, loading conifg files from a USB, what is the correct command for loading a config file from USB for cisco 3750x switch.
since our update of Cisco ASA 5510 (active/standby cluster) from version 8.22 to version 8.24 it isn't possible to transfer files from/to a sftp client. The request just times out. SSH from this client is possible.
If i connected the latop to brand new out of the box ASA 5505 through consloe cable and i have a config file on this laptop from other ASA5505, is there anyway i can upload that config file into startup-config of this new ASA5505 through console cable, without using TFTP or FTP?
I have a Cisco 2811 router and when I turn of the router the running config is lost. I have to the following to get the router running of the start-up config settings.
I just recieved a WAP4410N and managed to log in to the web interface. It is not allowing me to change many settings. I try to change the wireless network mode and click on save and it goes back to disabled again.
P.S. I have just upgraded the firmware to 2.0.3.3 and tried to set it back to the factory defaults. neither worked.
I have a WLC with, let´s say, 30-40 AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9. Since last November the following issue happened 3 times. One of the APs (it´s always the same unit) remains online but both WiFi interfaces appear down. I´m unable to put it back UP like if they were disabled. Then i have to reboot the AP and it starts working again.
What could be happening? Should i open an RMA for this unit?
I've just bought an AIR-WLC2106-K9 and 3 x AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 and I'm having a problem getting the AP's configured.
Firstly, the controller did not discover the device when it was on the same sub net, I had to plug it straight in which is no good for wireless-n due to the 100Mbps port speed on the controller. Secondly, when I am editing the AP through the controller webpage, none of the details are saved after applying changes (static IP etc).
I followed the Cisco quick start guide for the controller to get the basic config, radius server details etc in. It is running software version: 4.2.61.0
I'm new to wireless and I have 7 Cisco 1142N (AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9) APs. But The thing is I have to buy a WLAN controller for these APs. I checked on internet and I found the 2500 series Controllers are compatible with Cisco 1142N (AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9) APs. But I would like to know How can I find the exact supporting version of controller for Cisco Access points?
We have a problem with AIR-LAP1142N access points.
AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 Version 12.4(21a)JA
LAP's are not assotiated with controller yet. They get the ip address via dhcp, they are reachable by icmp. When I try to telnet, I get Password required, but none set? Is there any chance to get access to them without using serial port?
I'm in the process of trying to get a used LAP1142N access point connected to my already established WLAN. We currently have 7 active LAP1142N, our controller is a AIR-WLC2112-K9, and I am only trying to add one additional access point. I say this access point is used because we purchased it used, given it's not out of the box and hasn't ever been active in my environment. So far what I've tried is initially connecting the access point on to my network (powered over Ethernet) and consoled in from my desktop. With this, I was able to see the previous configuration so I ran a write erase/ reload. The AP shows a solid green light, but doesn't receive any configuration from the controller even when plugged directly in to the controller (on ports 7 and 8). I'm new to wireless, but familiar with Cisco CLI and web interfaces. I can't necessarily tell if this AP is set to autonomous as opposed to lightweight, but that could be the problem. Otherwise I'm lost. I've attached text files with the boot from CLI and show run from CLI.Let me know any additional information you may need. End note, I'm recieving DHCP (you can tell from boot), but it's not the same subnet as my controller or other active access points.
We have a set up which includes several air-lap1134n-e-k9 access points. We're having problems with a specific laptop connecting to the WLAN which is accessible via the AP. We can see numerous different SSIDs available and when we connect to either of the two we have set up it says it is unable to connect. One of the connections, let's call it Internet, has Layer 3 security set up. The other connection, Web, has Layer 2 security set up. The laptop can connect to neither. It can, however, connect to other wifi in the vacinity including a wifi hotspot we set up on an Android phone.
The laptop has an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 network adapter with current drivers. The WLAN's we've set up, Internet and Web, are both enabled for 802.11n.
What do the broadcom power saving mode settings mean? If power saving mode is enabled, what is the time it takes to go into power saving mode? What does fast mean?
Region : Canada Model : TD-W8961ND Hardware Version : V2 Firmware Version : 2.0.0 Build 120608 Rel.34612 ISP : TekSavvy NAT is enabled (under PVC2), as is UpNP
Whenever I enter all the info for a port forward under NAT in the virtual server tab, I click 'save' and nothing happens; chrome and firefox both give the same result. If I go to a different screen after pressing save and then come back to NAT settings, there's no entry updates and no port forwards.Should I install a different firmware (I can't find a newer version to install) or is NAT not supposed to work under PVC2? If I don't enter proper info (like leave the ports blank) I get an error if I press 'save', asking me to finish entering all the required info.
Once I got LAP1142N from ebay and converted from Lightweight to Autonomous via TFTP but I see there is new IOS came out so it required to upgrade Bootloader which is c1140-boot-m.124-23c.JA1.bin and IOS is c1140-k9w7-tar.152-2.JB.Currently 1142N running IOS c1140-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA and Bootloader Version 12.4(18a)JA.For while few hours ago I kept figuring it out how to upgrade bootloader on website but none of these will work.
1) AP was originally running a standalone image. I booted it into a so-called ROMMON or AP mode (ESC is the right key to make it boot into this mode).
I found a recovery image in its flash - c1140-rcvk9w8-mx. I made the AP boot from it by using "set" command and I see that it start booting using this recovery image. Here goes the question. Do all AP settings matter ? E.g. when I run "set" command from AP I see the following:
ap: set ?= DEFAULT_ROUTER=10.0.0.1 Default_router=10.9.99.1 ENABLE_BREAK=yes
I would like to downgrade Cisco Aironet 1142N to autonomous. But I would like to know is there any way to download the LWAPP IOS before upload the Autonomous IOS ? because I want to upgrade the 1142N from autonomous to LWAPP when I buy a LAN Controller.
Is that possible to use that backedup LWAPP IOS when I want to upgrade the Cisco Aironet 1142N autonomous to LWAPP?
I have a LAP1142N that is connected to a 3560 nonPoE switch (using compatible power injector) that will not associate to the controller I have set-up. The wireless is existing and I have about 11 other APs connected to the controller with no issues. The AP will pull an IP address from DHCP running on the primary controller. The AP pulls a new IP address in roughly a minute. I set the pool to be 3 IP addresses and set a contant ping to each, there is about 1 request time out before the next IP address starts pinging. I went to the controller and pulled the following message error from the log. *Feb 13 14:24:58.614: %LWAPP-3-HDR_ENCAP_ERR: spam_lrad.c:4216 Unable to encapsulate LWAPP header for discovery response; AP (APs MAC address) *Feb 13 14:24:58.614: %APF-3-PDU_ENCAP_FAILED: apf_net.c:771 Failed to encapsulate a PDU for transmission to station00:00:00:00:00:00. Destination IP address not set in L3 mode.
I have tried a different cable, connecting to a PoE switch, different controller, larger DHCP range, hosting DHCP on the distribution switch, I am awaiting console access to the AP since this is remote work. The controller is running Software Version 5.1.151.0. Thoughts?

I am currently experiencing an issue with a WLC that I am trying to connect 3 new Access Points to of the type AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 running Cisco IOS Software, C1140 Software (C1140-RCVK9W8-M), Version 15.2(2)JA
I had the controller on firmware 7.0.220.0 and just upgraded to 7.3.101.0 in the hopes to solve my issue. The already connect APs running 12.4 was upgraded without any issues (apart from one - I'll get to that one) and it is now running as before. But the issue with the 3 new APs still persists. I have supplied a screenshot of the AP Join page.
Another issue that arose from the said upgrade was that a previously shutdown AP (of the same type and software version as the ones that upgraded perfectly) got turned on after the WLC firmware upgrade and is now not able to join the controller.
I have two AP models in my network. LAP1142N-A-K9 and LAP1142N-N-K9. The LAP1142N-A works fine with both radios (a/n and b/g/n), but the LAP1142N-N is getting a regulatory domain not supported problem with the 802.11a/n radio, which is keeping it in the down state. I'm in Canada, and my country code on my 5508 WLCs are set to CA. My WLCs are running firmware version 6.0. I read over some specs and the difference between the two APs is FCC cfg vs Non-FCC cfg... Not 100% sure what that means.
our customer in France, it deploy access points AIR-LAP1142K-E-K9 in france but also in morocco.from Cisco's documentation and Azlan, it is not possible to purchase AP AIR-LAP1142K-E-K9 to the customer in Morocco. but it's possible only the item AIR-LAP1142K-I-K9.We have an issue: the WLC (version 7-0-220-0) is in france country code (FR) and regulatory domain (-E) and APs are in morocco.the regulatory domain (-I) is not supported in country (FR ), the interface 802.11a is not supported.
1/ is it possible to activate 802.11a on AIR-LAP1142K-I-K9 ? how can it be done ? 2/ or we must make an exchange AIR-LAP1142K-I-K9 by AIR-LAP1142K-E-K9 ? 3/ the morocco's customer said that it's possible to purchase AIR-LAP1142K-E-K9. is it true ? on the website Cisco: url... for morocco: the customer, can it purchase AIR-LAP1142K-E-K9 ?
I have downgraded one of our AP1142N-E K9 to Autonomous mode with this image: c1140-k9w7-tar.152-2.JB.tar I have uses cisco's instructions.
After successfull installation, I can open the Webinterface, but it shows almost no information. Only Device Type end serialnumber, but nothing more. Also it is not possible to save any configuration.
Alternatively I have installed: c1140-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JA1.tar
Same problem. I have tried it with a LAP1252N later. Same problem.
Samsung blu ray BD5700 is not saving the security key to my cisco lynksys router model E1000 after blu ray is powered off. I have spoken with samsung and followed their reconfiguration instructions which did not work. They suggested something was wrong with my blu ray player. I returned the blu ray to the store and exchanged for the same model hoping it was a problem with that device but the new blu ray is doing the same thing. I spoke with cisco lynksys support but they won't assist b/c my lynksys customer support has expired
Im trying to open up some ports on my e3000 for the use of Teamspeak and my Teamspeak server. However when i get of the information filled into the single port forwarding under the Gaming & Applications tab, and click save settings. The page just refreshes, with none of the changes being saved.
I am currently attempting to port forward on my Linksys E1200 Router and am not succeeding in saving my settings. I am attempting to open port 25565 though both Single Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding, and whenever I click the "save settings" button, I receive a full window message stating that my changes have been saved. Upon clicking this, I return to the previous screen whereupon my changes have been erased and my port has not been forwarded. Linksys E1200 Router not saving Port Forwarding changes.I have tried:
-Restarting the Modem -Restarting the browser -Restarting the computer -Tried to Port Forward through both the Single and Ranged Port Forwarding
I have 19 locations, each with 1 or more LAP1142N AP's in FlexConnect mode, AP's are primed using CAPWAP to my 5508 WLC at the datacenter. The AP's join the WLC without issue every time. I have two WLAN's, one guest and one staff, the guest network is open and obtains DHCP from a WatchGuard XTM33 firewall at each of the remote locations. The staff side is WPA2/RADIUS and DHCP is assigned from the WLC. Each AP is assigned a static IP that is not in the DHCP scope. For example: DHCP scope on the branch firewall is 192.168.1.10-250 the AP will be assigned static IP of 192.168.1.1.. The AP's are connected to a HP procurve switch that has a untagged VLAN, the firewall is using the native vlan 1 and so is the AP.
I have been running this network for over a year and it has not had a single issue until the last two weeks. Nothing on the network has changed or has been upgraded. The issue I am seeing is that clients are no longer able to connect to the AP and do not get DHCP assigned to them. I am able to get it working, if I remove the static IP from the AP, the AP will reboot, join the controller, then begin working, users can connect and DHCP is assigned from the firewall as it should. However, If the AP then reboots, the AP will join back to the controller but no clients can connect nor do they get a DHCP address. So, I then reassign a static IP to the AP again and it reboots, connects to the controller and clients then can connect and get DHCP.i've found several posts on this topic, in fact the patch of unassigning or reassigning static IP is one that I found. I am also waiting on my SmartNet to start up and will be contacting Cisco support as well.
how to downgrade/upgrade AIR-LAP1142N-N-K9 access point to autonomous mode, because i don't have controller. i'm not able to login to access point as its in Leightweight mode.
I just pulled the AP out of the box and haven't received support contracts yet. I connected the AP to the LAN and added it to my 4402 controller (version 5.2.178.0) with no problems. Once I set it the mode to H-REAP and it rebooted, it went loopy. Actually, it boots up, shows a bunch of debug info, then reboots. The console output is below. I've tried reimaging (image c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar) but still have the same problem. I checked and although the controller software is old, the AP is supported.
Cisco IOS Software, C1140 Software (C1140-K9W8-M), Version 12.4(18a)JA1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) Technical Support: [URL] Copyright (c) 1986-2009 by Cisco Systems, Inc.
We have a strange problem. We have a WCS v.7.0.172 that controls our two WLC v.7.0.116 and we have also two "Anchor Controller" WLC v.7.0.116 for Guest Access.
We use the LAP1142N and every AP has two SSID's. One for internal data traffic and the other one for the guests.
Now the problem is, that even if we have internal and external user on the same AP, the guest users gets disconnected after a few time. Sometimes after 20 minutes, sometimes after 90 minutes...but the user is still working. It's really irregular.
