I have a wireless deployment using a 5508 controller and 90+ LAP1142N lightweight access points.Everything is going relatively well, except I have about 3 that do not keep their config (hostname and AP group) past a reboot of the access point. When they do come up after a reboot, they go back to the default hostname of the mac address and are placed in the default-group AP group.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of setting up an interop lab for some engineers. The enviornment will consist of some 3750's, H3C's and ProCurves. My concern is that the end user will have Priv-Exec access for CLI usage on the 3750's and they can change the "en" password (I hope they don't but it has happened). Is there a way I can "break in" during the boot process to reset the password? The reason I am doing it this way is because I have an Altiris server with rebuild automation scripts in xpect and I would like to automate the process so I do not have to use a manual factory default reset.

I do not have a flash drive or an external hard drive, or jump drive.etc. So I was hoping I could just connect the two computers with an ethernet cable, and create a network.
Is this possible, or do you need additional equipment. I do not have a router, so if I create a network it has to be done with wires. So is it possible to create a network with nothing but an ethernet cable? Or is there another way I can get my moms i tunes transferred over?
since our update of Cisco ASA 5510 (active/standby cluster) from version 8.22 to version 8.24 it isn't possible to transfer files from/to a sftp client. The request just times out. SSH from this client is possible.

I can't seem to access the Net when transferring large files between my desktop (WinXP SP3, 100Mbps net card) and my laptop (Win7, 54Mbps WiFi). I have an EDIMAX BR-6228nC 150 Mbps broadband router to which my desktop is wired and the laptop connects through WiFi. The speeds never go above 2.5MBps, so there should be plenty of bandwidth left for Internet use. My router config confirms that there's no Internet connection while transferring the files

These users save the documents in their department folders, which are only acessible by their department and I.T. (me). Right now I have a .bat file that checks every half hour of the work day to see if it has been updated, if it has it will be moved to a location in the Intranet folder which will update the link on the Intranet. While users can view the Intranet, they do not have access to view the files or folders that house the Intranet html coding etc. This option works but our users are complaining that it isn't instantaneous. Any ideas how I can do this on a network while keeping everyone's security in place and not give them extra rights to the Intranet folders?

When accessing the network drive I am connected to the Internet through wireless connection. When I connect to the Internet through Ethernet cable opening and saving documents is much quicker. Is there anyway I can make the remote access quicker when accessing it through a wireless connection?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try and copy files from my Windows 7 Home PC to my Windows Server 2003 share, it copies so much then hangs the Server sharing. It then appears that the share has disappeared. If I copy from the Server 2003 to 7, it copies fine, and copying from XP to 2003 also works fine. I had a chat with a colleague who told me that he has the same problem copying from Vista to XP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a small business network. 8-10 computers, usually only 3-4 being used at any one time. I'm trying to improve network file transfer speeds between the local machines and a network READYNAS NV+. There are both 32 and 64 bit OS's in play. Between the READYNAS and the local machines are two non-managed switches (jumbo frames capable) and a patch panel. The cable from the READYNAS goes into the first switch, then out of that into the patch panel then into the second switch, and then out to several local machines.
Though i would love to improve performance to all the local machines, I am primarily concerned with one in particular. It has Windows 7 64 bit and an onboard Broadcom Netlink Gigabit network adapter. This device does NOT have a Jumbo frames option in the advanced settings. Here's the issue: When copying files from the READYNAS the upload speed is only 16mbps (jumbo frames enabled on the READYNAS) if I turn jumbo frames off on the READYNAS the upload speed drops to 9mbps. Just FYI, this is a photography studio and the files are always LARGE.
I have several questions that hopefully will lead to an illuminating discussion. 1) Is it possible that the universal patch is in any way a problem? Sorry if that is totally stupid, but I've never encountered one before. I understand routers and switches, but this patch thing is new to my experience. 2) Is having two switches a bottleneck? 3) Is it possible that the onboard Broadcom network adapter is junk? Why doesn't it have jumbo frames options? 4) Could I get better performance from an add on network card in a PCI-E slot and a couple of managed switches?I realize I'm all over the map here. Bottom line, I've got a small network situation here. Very simple, uncomplicated layout. All I want is better read/write performance to a single READYNAS NV+ to a handful of local machines. If I need to settle, I can live with better performance to the one single machine. 16mbps just seems tragically slow.
I have a HTPC running XP and a Media Player connected on the same wired network. I also have a Win7 laptop connected to the same network over Wifi.
From the laptop I want to send files between the HTPC and Media player on the wired network however if I drag and drop or use the "send to" option they are sent via the wirelss laptop which is very slow.
Am I missing a trick how can I send files directly between the 2 devices?
I was using my laptop - working in MS Word and hadn't even opend a internet browser and suddently a command prompt appears and all i managed to see before closing it from the task manager (which had it running through internet explorer i think) was that it was copying files. Its a work laptop so i would like to know if it was remote access from IT which seems doubtful on a Sunday or if i need to be concerned about security. Is there a relatively easy (considering i have zero programming experience) way for me to check if anyone logged on with remote access and who and what files were copied?

Perhaps some method in WinXP Pro to save the username/password? As it stands now, any time one of the WinXP Pro machines gets rebooted, or if the server gets rebooted, users of the Win XP Pro machines have to re-enter the username/password, and I'd like to find if there's away around having to re-enter that info.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two mac laptops and am trying to copy a directory with a number of PDFs in it. The files aren't particularly large, but there are many of them. At some point in the process the router stops and must be turned off and on before it will respond again either wirelessly or wired. I have tried the same experiment with both devices wired and the router works fine. I have tried changing the MTU, channel, beacon setting, etc. as other forum posts have tried. I tried reflashing the firmware, resetting to factory defaults and reconfiguring. So far no success. Cisco support wants me to return the router. Frankly I'm at the point of considering the former Linksys/Cisco products complete rubbish. I am going to have to buy a new router even if I return this one since I can't be without a router for any length of time.

I have a 3750 stack of 4 switches that was installed about 2 years ago. Recently I was doing some work on the switch and realized that I am unable to save the config. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of configuring QOS on a 3560 routing switch in a GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE priority type scenario.
Firstly, I understand that this config will add a tag of "precedence 5" to a packet if it matches the "ACL_QOS_GOLD_In" access list. Question is does the router see this "precedence 5" tag and then sets the priority, or am I missing something in my config where at present it just sees the "precedence 5" and doesn’t act on it ?
Secondly, Since the "precedence 5" tag has already been added to the packets, do downstream routers see this tag and act accordingly or so I need to configure those is well ? [code]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was trying to configure an SF 300-24 for use in my home and obviously did something dumb. It was working fine. The f/w was updated and I had configured 2 VLANs. VLAN2 was ports 1-6+GE1 for IPTV streaming and VLAN3 was ports 7-24+GE2 and GE3 for the rest of my LAN. I was plugged into GE4 and was configuring the switch with a laptop. GE4 was the only port still on the default VLAN1. I chaged the default VLAN to VLAN3, which forced a reboot and the switch never came back up. Attached is what I see when I connect to the console port: [code]
I can't access to GUI using it's static IP or it's default IP on any port and the console never reaches the point where I can log in. The System light is flashing green but the boot sequence never progresses past what's in the screen shot. I tried to do a hard reset using the recessed button on the front panel but it does not seem to have any effect, no matter how long I hold it down.
I have a WS-CE520-8PC Switch. I have tried a full 30/30/30 reset, factory reset, and I am still unable to access the express setup page. Running Win7 x64 on the host os (have tried windows 2000 and xp)It also wont allow me to access direct managment mode when pressing the admin button for 10 sec.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy network generally runs older routers (2600 series) with 16 port switch modules (NM-ESW-16). This has always worked great since I can configure the router and the switch ports on the fly, making changes to either as necessary. Well I am upgrading to 2811 routers, and we wanted to get gigabit ethernet ports on our switch modules. I think I made an error when I purchased a few of these switch modules: NME-16ES-1G.
The first problem, is that the switch ports don't even show up on the router config, I have to establish a session into the switch, (And I can't seem to get back to the router unless I manually switch off power and restart). I don't like this type of switch module, it's like I'm running a completely separate device, and while having a layer 3 switch is cool, It doesn't let me setup routing protocols so I don't like doing it this way. I want to go back to using a switch module that simply adds a ton of ports to my router like the NM-ESW-16. (Note: The NM-ESW-16 does actually work in the 2811 and would be perfect if it were Gigabit speed.)
The seconds problem is that the NME-16ES-1G isn't actually a Gigabit switch. It has a single gigabit port, but the 16 ports are all Fastethernet, and not gigabitethernet. So ideally, I am looking for a switch module that I can fully configure from the router interface that has 16 gigabitethernet ports, and works with a 2811. IE I want to do this. [code]
I have a D-Link Gigabit switch and I am trying to transfer files from my laptop (directly connected to switch) to my external hard drive (also connected to switch):The problem is that I get very slow speed for a transfer of a single file. It seems that the network utilization goes to 25%(normal) for just a few seconds and then it drops to 2-3%Please see attached image and propose what I should check.
