Cisco Wireless :: WLC 2504 Needs Which Code Version?
Apr 23, 2013
Just purchased a 2504 w/15 licenses and to run 10 - 2602i AP's. Code out of the box is 7.0.222.0 but when I go the support site I see 7.2, 7.3 and 7.4 all with relatively recent dates. I found I need 7.2.110.0 at a minimum to run the AP's. All the code versions say ED, which I thought was not final release versions.
We have cisco 2504 controller and 1200 series access point. These are in India and country code is IN.When access point joins the controller , then in wireless>advanced , i see the two country code is already configured these are Sri Lnaka(LK) and Singpore (SG).I have disabled the radios and changed the country code to IN but after doing that Access point is not joining the controller and giving the duplicate error.
Then i have again set the country code to IN,LK and SG.I am able to see the LK and SG but In is not showing in drop down list.
I need to convert some 1142 APs to lightweight mode. They will connect to controllers running 7.3.101.0. I noticed there's two options of Lightweight IOS code available c1140-k9w8-tar.152-2.JA.tar and c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.152-2.JA.tar. Whats the difference between the two versions of code?
We have bought an 2504 Wireless Controller and now i want to download the newest Software, actually the Wireless Controller runs release 7.2.103. In the download section from Cisco i've found two "latest versions" the 7.0 with release date from 11.09.2012 and the other 7.3 with the release date 30.08.2012.
Now I'm a bit confused about this, because the higher release has an lower release date : Can you tell me the difference between this versions? and which version i should install?
I have a cisco wlc 2504 is deploying authentication services to guest users toward a portal web customized and configured. I need to install my certificate verisign (certificate.cer) in to cisco wlc because my users don't like the page no trusted (The wlc is showing me ''There is a problem with this website's security certificate'') when they are trying to access to ssid to users guests.
I see several code versions that seem to support on ACE30.Is A2.3.4 Or A2(3.5) that latest version for ACE20-MOD-9?Will the version 4 or 5 run on ACE20?I currently user A2(3).
I am looking to upgrade a 5510 that is currently on code version 8.0(4) to code version 9.1. I know I will have to upgrade to 1gb ram, but can i just upgrade straight to version 9.1 or do I need to follow an upgrade path? This is a standalone device so I am planning on downtime.
I am looking upgrade my ASR routers to a newer code. I am running asr1000rp1-advipservicesk9.03.03.01.S.151-2.S1.bin now. Would like input on what a good stable version is. I am not bleeding edge so the latest version I won't trust.
I want to join the AIR-AP1121G-E-K9 LAP to an 2504 WLC with software release 7.4.x .In the compatibility matrix i saw that it's just possible if the WLC has the software version of 7.0.x.So my questions are:
1. Why it's needable to upgrade the WLC from 7.0.x to 7.4.x?
2. Is there any possibility to join the AP1121G to an 2504 WLC with 7.4.x version?
3. What's the difference between the releases 7.0.x and 7.4.x
I have been searching through the cisco docs for a while and i just cant seem to find this info. Can I run aironet 1600's with my wism running 7.0.116? Also, could I run my 1130 series ap's with a wism2? Basically, what is the minimum code level for a lightweight 1600, and what is the maximum code level for a lightweight 1130?
McAffee scan of acs 1113 appliance running the 4.2 build 124 patch 12 version reports that a medium vulnerability exists because the system has SSH version 1. Any way to specify only version 2 or turn off SSH?
I am planning to upgrade the WLC code and I have about 133 RAPs/MAPs/1131 APs that already joined the WLC. Will I have a problem with my MAPs when the WLC starts upgrading the code. Some MAPs will have 3 hops to connect to a RAP.
We are looking to upgrade our WiSMs to version 7.0.230.0, but the Cisco compatibility matrix suggests we need to upgrade WCS to the same version (it is currently on 7.0.172.0). My question is can we upgrade the WiSMs and do the WCS at a later date with no issues or do we need to do them at the same time to keep visibility of everything?
The reason I ask is that some of my clients use lobby ambassador for some of their users and they will need wireless access on the day we are due to upgrade WCS (the WiSMs are due to be upgraded and rebooted earlier that morning.
Our company has a customer with a Cisco 4402 WLC and a code version of 4.2.130.0 . The customer wants to upgrade the code to 7.0.230.0. Is there any flash size requirement when upgrading to 7.0.230.0? (upgrade train: 4.2.130.0 ----> 4.2.209.0 ----> 7.0.230.0), How can I find the flash size?
Working on a project consolidating all controllers to a single 8500 controller with a standby. Moved an AP over to test the process and everything worked fine. Took a little longer than I thought it would, but given the design with new flexconnect abilities, the creation of AP groups well you know.
I get the AP over and one of my ssids doesnt work because the key is different, so gotta move the AP back over to resolve production issues.
We have an AP located on a German site which is supposed to connect to a WLC which is in Germany as well. Our network however is spread to France as well where another WLC is located. Now, the AP can not be convinced to connect to the German WLC. Despite our efforts (e.g. manuel IP configuration, reset to factory defaults) we don't manage to bring that AP to the German network - this is by the way the only AP, all other approx. 200 work just fine.
I am having a Wism on 6500 chassis with software code 7.2.103.0 Now......... I use to have 7.2.111.3 on the Wism before but for some reason I had to downgrade the code to an older version (some compatibility issues with the NCS)......
Now before all the APs were having 7.2.111.3 version running as soon as I downgraded the controller IOS most of them downgraded the code but a few still did not show up...... so I picked one of them and did a factory reset on the AP and was guessing that it might get the new code from the controller this way but unfortunately since than I have tried a lot of things but no luck. I have switches configured on layer 3..... other APs connected to this switch are working fine,........ when I reset the AP to factory default it doesnot take an IP obviously so I manually define the IP,,, you would find that configuration below too.... but than after a while it trys to locate the controller and could not find it.... where as, as i said other APs on teh same switch works fine......
the only thing i notice is that it does not release the IOS .. it is still having 7.2.111.3.....
using MCNG ddr static values from serial eeprom ddr init done Running Normal Memtest... Passed. IOS Bootloader - Starting system.
i'm going to upgrade a 5508 wlc code from 7.0.116.0 to 7.1.91.0 to add 3600 series access points having it all manageable via WCS ver 7.0.230.0 it seems to be possible, as it is explained in the compatibility matrix found on [URL]now I have to download the file to the controller...
before doing that I'd like to know if I will loose my configuration on the controller i'm concerned about that because the release document is not clear:
- We highly recommend that you back up your controller's configuration files prior to upgrading the controller software. Otherwise, you must manually reconfigure the controller.
- For busy networks, controllers on high utilization, or small controller platforms it is advisable to disable the 802.11a/b/g networks as a precautionary measure.
- Step 5 Disable any WLANs on the controller. - Step 19 Re-enable the WLANs...... - Step 22 If desired, reload your latest configuration file to the controller. (reload config after reenabling wlans?another controller another question .....: a cisco wlc 2100
I have a WLC 5008 running with 40 AIR-LAP1042N-E-K9 and country code BE (Belgium) configured.I also have some AIR-AP1142N-C-K9 which I converted to CAPWAP OS.Unfortunattely only 1 of the 2 radio interfaces is working because of regulatory reasons.(the AP's are -C models which stands for China - although they were bought in Belgium too).I tried to activate the country codes for BE and China, but the WLC won't accept both.Is there a way to get the 2nd radio interface working ?
