I have several WLC 5508 with 7.2.110 firmware. My questions are:
(1) Is band select is enable by default on 7.2.110?
(2) All the variables settings on the band select, how do I set it up to make 5 ghz more preferable than 2 ghz?
The product literature for the AE1000 says that you can select which band to use. However there doesn't seem to be an option to do that. I have an E4200 and when I set it up, it assigned my 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands the same SSID. If I configure the AE1000 to connect to that SSID, it seems to connect to the 2.4GHz band. Do I have to change the SSID for 5GHz and initiate a connection to it manually?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe implemented WLC 5508 software version 7.3, with 8 Aironet devices, most of them are AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9, and two AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9.I could really have benefits of VLAN select feature, but I noticed that it's not working like it should. Two interfaces are in Interface group, but from 45 clients only few of them has IP address from one subnet, others have from second sub.I see requirements for this to work is 32 MB of flash on LWAP devices..I only have 16 MB.. upgrade of flash on devices or something ?
View 12 Replies View RelatedThe 5508 is running code 7.0.116.0. I have created a group interface for 3 subnets and assigned the group to the WLAN. Clients are getting IP addresses in a round robin fashion. The issue or downside to this is if the lease has not expired before the next time the station connects to the WLAN it consumes an address on another subnet instead of grabbing the unexpired lease IP address on it's previous VLAN. It seems that the WLC determines the VLAN in the interface group before the DHCP request from the client in case the client already received a DHCP address that has not expired. This can be problematic since we have seen some iPhones requesting an address every 20 minutes thus consuming an address on every subnet in the interface group. Other than setting a lease time extremely low what can be done to address this?

How does my ftp site get active, it keeps the 192.168.0.3 address.I have enabled and saved hoping this will allow it, but no joy.

Its autonomous so there is no controller. I renamed the config.txt file I am unable to rename or delete the private-config file. I get the message that file or directory cannot be found when i try to rename and permission denied when I try to delete it.
Any benefit to enable https with in the gui instead of using the default http?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a 3750X, IOS 15.0 IP Base license, reset to factory defaults, and I want to use the FastEthernet0 out-of-band management port on the backside next to the console port. The idea is that this port should provide a management interface that does not participate in the routing table. Problem is, contrary to the documentation, that configuring an IP address on the interface does make it show up in 'show ip route'. So it's still part of the routing table. Also, I'm unable to find the commands to change this and set a default gateway for just the management interface. I'm pretty sure this has to be possible, I remember seeing something similar on an ASA once. The 3750 configuration guide on Cisco.com does not seem to mention it.I considered using VRF but it's an IP Base license, no VRF.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been tasked with setting up a laptop that I would describe as "ancient". It's running XP SP3 right now and it does that rather well. However, there's one issue that I have not yet been able to get rid of and I've been working on this on and off for about a year (luckily, the laptop's owned by a relative, so I'm not on a deadline). However, all lack of deadlines aside, I'm at my wit's end. So here's the issue.Whenever I boot the laptop up, the Wireless Button is disabled. Since this laptop is never going to be moved again, it's very bothersome to always have to push the button, wait for a while and then have it sign in. Here's what I want: I want the laptop to boot up, then automatically link up to the house's own WLAN.
The Wireless connection is handled via Wistron Launch Manager 1.1.0 and the laptop is a Littlebit Coris Z71. I've figured out that an EXE named WButton.exe is responsible for the availability of wireless connections. However, putting a shortcut to this EXE in the Startup-folder of the startmenu hasn't worked either. I also seem to be unable to figure out what process WButton.exe uses or which values it changes, let alone where they're changed. For all I know, the wireless connection is handled by a magical randomness.
I have a Cisco 5508 controller and am considering using LAG. Can I enable LAG but only use 2-4 of the 8 available ports on the 5508? I am asking because currently I don't have enough ports on my 3750G switch to accomidate all 8 ports on the 5508.

My scenario is: We have 2 interfaces (corporate and a guest). Users are connecting to our guest network after they have automatically connected to our corporate network and logged into Windows. When they realise that things are not quite working in the way they want (access to servers etc...), they reboot and then find they cannot logon to the laptop at all. This is because the laptop has automatically rejoined the guest network and has no access to AD. I then have to locally logon to the laptop and remove the guest network.

So far I’ve tried enabling MAC Filtering under “Security -> AAA -> MAC Filtering”, but found out that it’s a white list. The opposite of what I’m trying to achieve, but I like the fact you can link it to a specific interface.
I’m just looking at the “Disabled Clients” again under “Security -> AAA ->”, but think this is more a total ban as I cannot see a method at attaching it to an individual interface. I'm kindda stuck and my good old friend Google is not yielding great results.
I’m not by any means a wireless expert, so there is probably a better method. I would prefer to use the controller as a way of achieving this, but if you think I’m wasting my time and should be looking at a Windows Group Policy method then I’ll go with that?
We`re using a WLC 5508 with SW 7.2.103.0.The most things are working fine, but i have a problem with the web auth.
Setup:
- Max Concurrent Logins for a user name is set to 1
- Max-Login Ignore Identity Response is set to enable
- Web Authentication Type is set to customized
The Problem:
- the user "test" is logged in at device1 (working), the same user "test" try to login at device 2 (is not working, fine!) -> login is not accepted, WLC redirects to the INTERNAL Web Login Page.The problem is the redirect to the internal web login page after failed login. If i try to login with a not existing user, the redirect is working perfect to the customized web login.
I had configured one access point CAP3602E in flex connect mode through a WLC 5508 after deploying the access point in flex control mode the local mac-filering is not working. before it was working when ap was in local mode. any body have to know is the mac-filtering working in flex-control mode ?

View 1 Replies View Related(5508 WLC, 1142N APs).I understand if I enable the AP mode to Rogue Detector from the details page of the AP, the AP stops accepting requests and is now looking for rogue items on the wired network. Is this the same when I enable Rogue Location Discovery Protocol? Will I lose the wireless functionality of all of my APs on the controller?
Next question, when I look at the Rogue Summary on the Monitoring page I see three Adhoc Rogue devices. When I select the Detail link only one shows. I remember the other two were HP mutifuction devices with WIFI enabled but I cannot retrieve that information anymore.
I´m wondering if it`s possible to export the defualt web auth portal(web login page) via tftp to a computer from the Cisco WLC 5508 and then modify it and then import that customized portal to the WLC 5508?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the new XBOX 360 black N wireless adapter and the Linksys E3000 dual band router as I want to upgrade the network range and speed to N. I set up a unique SSID and passphrase (WPA2) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. My XBOX could connect to the 2.4GHz band network and could connect to XBOX Live. But when I configured all the settings and tried to connect to the 5GHz band network, but no luck. My XBOX just said it failed to connect. I was sure that I did type in the SSID and passphrase correctly. I still cannot figure out what went wrong. I even suspected either the wireless adapter or the router malfunctioned.

I'm using a WDR3600 router, and I'm having difficulty with getting internet access on the 5 GHz band. Right now the router is broadcasting in both 2.4 and 5 GHz as two separate APs. The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.
I just saw the AVC feature in WLC version 7.4.100.0 and wonder, if there is a possibility to select a AVC profile per user, based on it's RADIUS authentication via ACS.For example:
- A user in group teacher can access youtube on SSID A
- A user in group student can not access youtube on SSID A

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn an enviroment with WCS and a WLC5508 with 40 AP's (WAPs are either 1262's and 1252's), I have noticed that the bulk of users are infact operating on 802.11g although most operating notebooks are running 802.11n capable NICs (including my own laptops NIC - but yet when I connect I connect at 54Mbps.). Only a small portion of registered clients are using 802.11n. All my WAPs have both radios enabled?My question is how does a client notebook select a "prefered" band of 802.11n. I know in some cases the wireless NICs themselves have an option to select the "Prefered Band", but there are many notebooks out there that dont have this option. What would make a client connect at 802.11n over 802.11g? Who makes that call ?

Everything is running version 7.0.230. My question is can I apply MAC address filtering on a select group of AP's to restrict access to a specific SSID broadcast on these AP's without affecting other AP's also connected to the same WiSM?

I checked my wireless connection and saw that the radiotype was now 802.11g instead of 802.11n, what is always has been. I looked at the Wireless configuration in the router's webbased config panel, but the only things listed there are "Disabled", "Mixed", "Wireless-G Only" and "Wireless-B Only". A scratched my head a bit, wondering wether or not I really bought an N router or just a G router. But IIRC I really bought an N router. It said so on the bill. Also, when I check the user manual, page 14 says I should be able to select "Wireless-N Only".

I m working with WISM s and WISM2;s, 1130 and 3602 ap;s. Cores are 6509-E's.
i m going to implement a Bonjour gateway (which is an Aerohive ap, no wifi enabled, its just a Bonjour gateway)
This ap is connected with a trunk port (to a 6509-E) and has the wifi client vlans on the trunk as allowed vlans. It also has an allowed vlan for AppleTV;s which will be wired devices.
The Aerohive gateway gets an ip address in every wifi subnet, so far so good.
I was thinking that if i enable multicast :
- globally on the wisms, with mcast-mcast distribution
- on the SVI's for the wifi client vlans
- on te SVI's of the vlans for cisco aps
- on the SVI for AppleTV
- SVI for wism management
- SVI for the Bonjour gateway
then do i still need vlan select? Maybe a stupid question, but i m not sure how to interpret some things in this document.
was working fine with my new router DSL-2730U D-link router and using it's wireless connectivity with G/N mixed mode..and i noticed that the range is so low so i decided to switch to N-only mode and when i did that i couldn't connect at all!..the router uses N-150 btw.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an AE3000 dual band wireless adapter using the Win 7 Pro OS. At work our routers all use the same SSID, but utilize different channels. In terms of signal strength, the strongest signal is usually, but not always, one of the channels on the 2.4GHZ band (usually 11). However, in terms of speed of connection and lack of overcrowding, the best signal is invariably one the channels on the 5GHZ band (usually 161). My AE3000 will inevitably connect to the strongest signal (channel 11) even though it only slightly stronger than the signal on channel 161 and furnishes a much slower connection than that obtainable on channel 161. Is there any way I can "force" the AE3000 to connect via channel 161 rather than channel 11?
