AP has static IP with 2 SSIDs setup, one for guest one for domain access(both have the same issue), tried with multiple devices, both win and MAC, all show "connected but with limited access", ipconfig on those devices, all show ip "169.254.X.X", but event log on AP indicates that "authentication has been completed sucessfully".
using RADIUS server for authentication. management VLAN ID "1", SSID VLAN ID "11"

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs I posted about in the other AP541N thread about degraded performance, mine did a strange client disconnect last week. It dropped all authenticated clients, but they all thought they were still connected. A quick disable/enable of the wireless card on the laptop would get the computer back on the AP.
This same thing happened again today.

I have 3 AP541Ns setup in a small environment. The wireless clients use laptops to attach, via RDP, to a Microsoft Terminal Server. They need the ability to walk, with laptop, from room to room, IE roaming wireless clients. The issue is the clients drop and re-attach constantly and takes up to 5 minutes to re-attach to the WLAN / RDP session. Is this a symptom of going from WAP to WAP and is their anything I can do about it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was having this issue with my Dell Precision M70 laptop until I made this tweak to the Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG card that is built-in and so far its seems to be making a difference with it connecting to our Cisco 541L APs and acquiring a DHCP from our network. However, the only thing different I noticed after making this change is that it is initially a bit slow at connecting to the Cisco APs.

I have an AP541N-A-K9. For the past couple weeks it stops work at 5:00pm. The clients can see the SSID but when they connect it fails. The only way to get this to work again, is to set the radio to 5GHz 802.11N. Setting the radio to anything else does not allow the clients to connect.
I have some older clients so I need this broadcast G as well.
I have upgrade the software to AP541N-K9-2.0(1). Does not make a difference. Reset to Factory defaulst and reconfig does not make a difference. There are no Rouge AP's in the area.
Between the issues these have passing DHCP from a Windows server and now this, I'm thinking these devices are not fully baked.
I am unable to connect to my home wifi from my laptop but it connects fine at work. All other devices (2 androids and 1 laptop) are able to connect to the home network. My laptop used to connect intermittently earlier - sometime the connection would be restored when i reset the router or restarted the laptop but now I'm just not able to at all. The message i get is either "Limited Access" or "Unidentified Network. No internet access" - the signal strength always is excellent. I have tried switching off and on the wireless router, have disabled and then enabled the wireless connec on the laptop, have reconfigured the wireless network on the router with a new network name and password but nothing works. However I am able to connect to the internet using the network cable - there were a few times where I couldn't do that either. As of last night, I cannot connect to any of the wireless networks I use every day (my personal home network or my school's WPA2).
The signal strength is very good, but it says "Limited Access" next to the network name. Apparently "Limited" means "No" because I am not connected. Here's what happened:Lavasoft Ad-Aware was blocking a site that I needed to access. I haven't used Ad-Aware in months, and it did not even appear to be running. So uninstalled it with Add/Remove programs in the control panel. BUT, mid-way through the uninstallation, I got a blue screen and my computer restarted. When my computer booted back up, I could no longer connect to my home's wireless. I'm at school now and I cannot connect here either. Ad-aware is gone from the add/remove programs list, but there is still an Ad-Aware folder in Program Files. The folder still has a bunch of stuff in it, including adaware.exe. I dont see an uninstaller (but i havent really investigated that yet). so now i can't connect to any network. Here's What I've TriedRan troubleshooter. Useless. Turned off my netbook's wireless. turned it back on. Device manager says my Network Adapters are working fine. No yellow or red icons next to them. also tried resetting stuff with the command prompt. something about winsock and netsh. I don't know what I was doing though. just following instructions from other people on yahoo answers when i googled the problem.

COundt access them but they were still delivering 'wireless' so to speak I have recently put them back to defaults to try and get them back in to CCA. i had one, but not the other. They would work fine via GUI/web access.Then i updated them to 2.0.4 (both images) and since doing that i have no access to either of them via any form.

I want to configure the Guest VAP to redirect to an authentication page so that the user connecting has to log in to get internet access. I'm fairly certain the AP541N doesn't offer this out of the box. I know I can redirect, but what is needed to force a user to authenticate to gain internet access. I want to find out what additional hardware/software I will need in order to create Guest Services of this VAP.

I have created 2 VAP's and give each one an SSID. They both have the same VLAN ID. I have setup as follows:
1) The first VAP I would like to give internet access and access to our internal network shares.
2) The second VAP I only wish to give internet access and no access at all to our internal network (for guest access). I am also using HTTP redirect with this.
how can I achieve the setup in number (2)? This is to give internet access, but not share the internal network.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to connect the AP541N to the RV220W and use the same SSID assigned to both throughout the office, for seemless client movement. I would like to keep the AP541N connected via the internet cable, as it will be on a switch which is on the same segment. The access point has many different configuration methods available, but the router appears to only have WDS as an option to connect the two devices. I would rather not use the WDS feature on the AP, as I want to utilize as much bandwidth available as possible, and I assume using that method I would need to remove the ethernet cable from the switch.
Is it as simple as configuring both devices with identical VLAN settings? I am preconfiguring the devices before installing them, as to minimize downtime, so would like to make sure the configuration is correct.

I have a client that has 3 AP541N's and they want to enable guest wireless access. However, their VOIP provider has their managed switches locked down so we can't add VLANs, etc.So I cannot touch the switch or router config on this LAN.
Looking into AP541N documentation I see VAPs mentioned, can I enable those and have secure guest wireless access with the same private IPs that the rest of the LAN use right now? (That is, the employees are 192.168.2.x and the guest wireless users would also be 192.168.2.x.)
Or do I need to do something else to properly enable guest wireless? Like add another piece of equipment? I did try to add a Cisco RVS4000 to the mix but it wouldn't pass the VLAN across the switches that I setup for the guest wireless SSID. goal is to leave the switch and router in place, and work with the AP541N's that I have and get secure guest wireless.
a new wireless adapter and modem installed, while everything can access the internet fine through this (including my laptop, which as far as I am aware does not support 802.11n) however her laptop can not access the internet. I can access wireless adapters but it say's that I am not connected and that connections are available.I thought that maybe it was a driver issue so I've updated to the latest (9.2.0.470) and still no luck. I got the driver from the Samsung page for the laptop, I tried it on my home network (which is not using 11n) and it still has the same problem. I've looked around but can't seem to fix it.

One problem with DIR-655.
Drops wireless connection very often. On the taskbar in wireless network center (next to speaker and time) I can find info: Limited Access. Router doesnt drop internet connection but only wireless connection. Sometimes 3-4 times an hour. It's very annoying especially when you upload large files (for example 16-20MB) to your mailbox. It drops connection and we get Limited Access and you can try to upload again and again. Anotner example during VOIP conversations for example on skype it drops and disconnects skype.Firmware was never updated just router was bought with this firmware. We are located in China so its correct.When laptops are connected using LAN cable it works fine but its impossible to keep laptops connected using LAN cables all the time.The problem occurs only when we are connected by wireless.QOS is enabled, WISH is enabled.When QOS and WISH disabled it's same also drops connections on WIFI.
