Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2960 - Configure A New Switch Remotely
Mar 8, 2012Today in my rush to get home I plugged in a new 2960 stack and did a little bit of very basic configuration, but no passwords were set. I tried to telnet in and the message says that a password is required, but none is set. I tried the SDM as I hadn't turned it off yet and it is prompting me for a user/pass but I have no idea what to put in there. No console is available, it's a new office so no employees around either.

Feb 2, 2007We have a RV042. remote management is set to DISABLE - but even after restarting the router i can access the interface remotely over the internet.even when i enable it and change the port to say 5555 i can connect to the web interface using either port 5555 but ALSO on port 80.what's wrong here?the only way to stop that was to create a rule that blocks port 80 on the WAN interface. (btw. could this rule affect LAN users when browsing the web?)

Dlink Switch Loses Port Connectivity?
Dec 22, 2011I have Cyber cafe, And i'm having a problem with My 24 port Dlink "DES 1024d" switch, which has been misbehaving for few months, it looses connectivity to a pcsometimes.....when i reboot the pc, then it works again, But it keep losing connectivity to the other pc's, not at the same time, every time loses connectivity to a different pc.

Feb 26, 2013I have a WAP321 I am trying to set up. It's connected to gi1/23 and the switch system mode is set to router. The rest of the network works just fine.I have an SG500-28p and the port. [code] On the WAP321 wizard, configured IP address on my management vlan and also configured the default SSID on that vlan. That works. (I plan to remove that one) Then I add the two SSIDs for vlan 20 and 22 (private and public access) and I can't associate to either of the two additional SSIDs. I haven't configured any other settings beyond the wizard and adding the other two SSIDs. I do want cisco mobile ios (jabber) to work on the private network and also do have a couple spa525g2s that need to connect wireless.

Oct 16, 2011how to configure the backup port for the management interface for a WLC 2112. I see in the documentation that it states:
"Each interface is mapped to at least one primary port, and some interfaces (management and dynamic) can be mapped to an optional secondary (or backup) port. If the primary port for an interface fails, the interface automatically moves to the backup port. In addition, multiple interfaces can be mapped to a single controller port."
But nowhere can I find where it says how exactly to do it. Google seaches have come up empty as well. I am connecting the WLC to a 3750 stack, and would like to have a secondary port from the WLC connected to the second node of the 3750 stack. So far I have connected port 1 (management) of the WLC to a port on node 1 of the stack which is configured as a trunk and everything is workign fine. I have also connected port 2 from the WLC to a port on node 2 in the stack that is configured the same as the port on node one. how to tell the WLC to use port 2 as the management backup if needed.

Sep 10, 2012I'm having some problems with a D-Link switch. I believe it's filtering the management VLAN frames, which is really strange. If you look at the graph, you can see that the D-Link is connected to three switches by trunk links. I'll just use the numbers set in red on the graph to explain what's going on, it's simpler to see.So when I'm connected either to switch 4 or switch 5 (or the others on 5's level) I can use the management VLAN (ID = 1) to connect to all switches above number 3 (including number 3) but I can't get to switches numbers 1 and 2.The only way to connect to those switches is to either connect directly to one of their ports attributed to VLAN 1 or by connecting directly to switch 3. So that's why I concluded that switch 3 filters VLAN 1 frames. It's not switch 4 cause I can get from 5 to 3. But at 3, the frames stop.Also, this only happens for VLAN 1. We have some VoIP phones connected to switches 1 and 2 and their frames can communicate anywhere in the network.

So my first choice was to create a route-map in (CSI) but I don't know how to do it. On my Firewall ASA, I don't have any Context License, that is why I would like to do it like this.

I just can't get it to work.On the interface I have added: switchport mode trunk The default is encap for this switch is dot1q, so there is no need, or ability to add/change the encap mode. Also all vlans are being allowed by default. I still can't get any port to trunk. Need to get G0/1 to trunk, have also tried to trunk f0/6 to the switch in my office. Sep 16, 2011Right now I have it connected like this: Internet-> SURFboard SB6120 Modem -> DGL-4100 Router (modem in the WAN port, 3 internet connections plus the switch in the LAN ports) -> DGS-1008G Switch (2 other internet connections connected to this, as well as an Xbox 360).The problem is that everything connecting to the router works, and nothing works on the switch even though the power light is on (however, the port on the router that is receiving the switch is not lit up). I'm guessing this is because the router only assigns as many IP addresses as it has ports or something.
