View 2 RepliesI bought a Netgear WN3000RP Extender for better wifi range, because on my room upstairs I have no signal at all (so called dead spots) So, I installed it a few months ago and all was working fine, untill we had to leave the house for vancation. Someone in the house pulled the extender out of the electric outlet. A few weeks later we pulled it back in it, but here started the problem: I installed the extender again, but now without any succes. (Just incase you want take a look: [URL]
There are 4 LED lights attached to this extender. 3 of them are lighting, but the 4th won't light at all. LED's: [URL]
I did the exact same procedures as exampled in the installation manual, but nothing worked. I always got this error on the end of the unsuccesful installation: Move the extender closer to the existing router or gateway.
Im really sure the extender is in the range of my actual router!
I've tried everything from restoring to factory defaults to WPS, DPS, disabling security, Nothing works.. I always get stuck on the error. (With WPS I press both the buttons on the extender and the router, but they cant find each other.)
I'm running Windows Vista on PC. Have a Netgear router. Just bought Netgear range extender WN3000RP. Have the extender plugged in and light is green. When I try my PC's wireless network manager, it does not recognize any wireless devices to add. How can I connect to the extender wireless network when it is not recognized on my wireless manager??

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a Netgear WN3000RP wireless extender. The security setting on all devices on the existing network show as WPA2-PSK wireless n but the extender comes up as WPA-PSK wireless g although the instructions say it will copy existing security settings. There is supposed to be a Netgear website to log on to an installation wizard but this doesn't work and appears not to have worked for some months. Why are Netgear still selling this device without an installation disc when they must know by now that their site doesn't work?Is there any way to alter the security setting of the extender?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently just bought a Netcomm NP124 wireless extender as a computer on the other side of my house does not get within the range of my routers wireless. So i have opened the package and followed the step by step manual of how to set it up. it is as follows:
1. to initially set up the product we recommend you plug the NP124 into a power socket near both you existing router and computer (DONE successfully)
2. Plug the supplied Ethernet cable into your NP124 and connect the other end to the computer (DONE successfully)
*this is where the problem lies*
3. you can connect your devises through the web user interface. to open the web browser (internet explorer, Firefox, etc) and type 192.168.20.1 into the address bar and hit enter.
4. When prompted add in the username and password.
Before i keep going i must tell you that my desktop computer doesnt have wireless but my modem/router does so i connect my computer to my router via an ethernet cable. There are further steps but i cannot get past step 3. When i attempt to type the IP in the URL it says "problem loading page", "unable to connect". At all times my phone line is connected to my modem/router. These are the cable variations i have tried:
a) -ethernet from computer to NP124
-No ethernet connection from modem/router to computer
**this is the procedure outlines in the manual, does the manual assume i have a wireless connection
to the internet in my desktop?**
b) -ethernet from the computer to the modem/router
-ethernet from the NP 124 to the moder/router
c) now using an Ethernet hub:
-(ALL) NP124, modem/router and desktop connected to the hub at the same time
I cannot see why the IP does not connect, without this stage i cannot enter the wireless settings of the NP124. I have tested to see if other IP addresses work in the URL (eg the modems 192.168.1.1) and it works but the NP124 doesnt.
I have a HTPC that I use to feed two XBOX extenders (all are hardwired, through a switch). I was using the onboard Realtek NIC, but having some stuttering issues for live and recorded TV feeds. I installed a new Intel NIC, but cannot get the Xboxs to connect back using that connection. Everything else is working (Internet, NAS drives, etc) with that card, only the Xbox extenders. I did delete the original connection and tried adding back as new, but have since had to revert back to the original NIC.

Also even though my wireless connection is connected, I'm unable to connect to the internet - I keep getting the message 'internet explorer cannot display webpage'.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless repeater (NETGEAR Universal Wifi Range Extender WN2000RPT) thats been giving me issues lately when attempting to use it to connect an xbox 360 I have to xbox live. The Xbox and the repeater are connected by an ethernet cable so there is no wireless connection going on between them. My router (Cisco WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router with VPN) located in the basement of my house, and the extender is on the second floor of my house. The xbox that I want to connect to the internet is located on this second floor and because of the distance between it and my router a normal xbox wireless networking adapter doesn't seem to be working.Anyway, if I plug in the extender and let it get a connection, and use it right away to connect, i have no issues. The connection will also usually remain working for a while after I first get it working. The problem comes after I'm done using the xbox and i shut off the console and the tv. When I come back to the xbox later and turn it on, the networking extender still shows it has a full connection and is working properly on the outside with the green lights, but the xbox will not connect and it will tell me the extender is not assigning an IP automatically (DHCP turned off), when I know for a fact it is turned on. It is almost like the extender freezes after I leave it alone and on for a while. When this happens I usually unplug it and let it connect, and everything works as it should again. After a while its gotten a little annoying having to do this every time I need connection.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently have a Belkin router and a Belkin range extender. I have the router downstairs and the extender upstairs. Right now the router operates as <SSID> and the extender is <SSID> Alt. I would like to use them both as <SSID>, and have them work together. For example, I use the Wifi downstairs on my laptop, I walk upstairs, and I don't have to change over to the other network. It would switch automatically to the stronger signal.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI started out with a wireless router/modem that my ISP provides as its default modem. It was and still is working fine. We will call this router A. My uncle who is living with me wasn't receiving the wifi signal in his room so he went and bought a different router that is supposed to have more range. Also, I believe it is capable of providing higher speeds wirelessly, but that is really irrelevant I think. We can call this new router B. I currently have router B running through router A with an ethernet cable into a LAN port- LAN port to LAN port. I basically want B to be a wireless range extender. My question is quite simple actually. I have everything up and running just fine, but it seems as if the wireless signal may still be coming from the old router A.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt the moment the Wireless Router is located in my bedroom which is 12 meters from the living room where the phone line is. I basically have one phone line extension from the telephone line to my bedroom where I've plugged in the ADSL filter. The modem part plugs into the actual router and the telephone line is then extended back to the living room with a second extension cable. This is because my PC is in my bedroom. Problem with this is the fact that there are extension cables get in the way when moving furniture around and also hang from the ceiling in the corridor. What I'd like to do is have a WiFi dongle for my PC and move the router to the living room. Now my second problem is that my phone gets a very weak WiFi signal once you go to the living room so I imagine if I moved the router to there then I would barely get a signal in my bedroom. I have two options to solve this:
(1) Use a WiFi extender in between my room and the router and then a dongle for my computer
(2) Upgrade my current G router to an N router. Problem is I'm not too sure the signal will reach my room. There's a 12 meter range from the living room to my bedroom btw.url...
