I ordered this router from walmart...My questions are before I even open it up when i receive it are..Will it be a huge pain to hook my vonage modem up and not have problems with calls?...I really got it also so that i can use a wifi device like nook to access their store...Also i was thinking of getting a roku player from netflix for my little 22 inch hdtv.

I've been following those instructions to set a dir-615 as a wifi access point connected to a switch : [URL]. I am now able to connect to the 615 either by wifi or by typing it's ip address with another computer connected to the LAN. Connecting to the 615 by wifi, i can do a ping request to urls or receive and send mail with my e-mail client but i can't access websites using my browser.s it possible to get it working without installing some kind of modified firmware? I tried plugging the Internet ethernet cable in the LAN and Internet ports of the 615, none works.

Today I used my iPod and checked under general settings and noticed a wireless name I did not set up but then it disappeared. Also on dlink account online a few months back I was trying to do something with account, security and noticed one or two connections I didn't set up. What are the steps securing router,wifi so others cannot access or use ?

As you can see it's a simple network, I mostly use the network to share itunes library from PC CENTRAL to the other pcs, play games like counter strike and the like, and of course share the internet connection and copy files from one to another. I have to puntualize that all the computers are in the same room.Last week my mom bought a Toshiba Satellite and I bought a TP-LINK TL-WR741ND so she can work in her room (which is pretty far if I want to make a wire connection), so I installed the WiFi but now this is how my network looks like:> The case is that:
a) I can't access my toshiba from any other computer, but the toshiba can access any other using \192.168.1.# command.
b) The PC Central's iTunes library can be played in toshiba's itunes.
c) I can't make an HomeGroup between the two pcs running w7. Actually the only one pc I want to be working in LAN with the toshiba is PC Central, but as I said earlier, PC Central can't access toshiba.
The settings in the TL-WR740N are: WAN working as Dynamic IP (got IP 192.168.1.46 submask 255.255.255.0 and gateway empty), lan 192.168.0.1, (I can't make it to be 192.168.1.#, I think that's impossible cause it always gives me an error 5008). MAC filtering and that's the only thing I changed from default settings.
I would like to use the DAP-1522 as an Access Point (wired to my router). My two concerns are:Can the 3 remaining ethernet ports be used to wirely connect to local PCs (so the DAP-1522 also acts as a switch) ? In case answer to the previous is yes, would it affect the performances of the wifi ?

I have a notebook connected by Wireless and a desktop connected by cable.Sometimes my wireless connection are limited, but my computer (connected by cable) still working fine.I`ve tried to disable DHCP and input static IP address but I didn't work.I have used for almost one week without problem, and sometimes this problems happens three times in one hour.The only way to reconnect the wireless is restart the TP-LINK and my internet modem.I`m using the latest firmware version.

Just installed my new 8960 and it's working fine. However, I'd like to disable admin access from wireless, and only have that available via the LAN. I can't find anything that looks like it'll do that in any of the setup pages, is it possible? All previous wireless routers I've had have been able to do this.
I just recently bought this router (DIR-615 rev E3) to act as a Access Point for the dead wifi spot in my room downstairs. I set up everything properly (Turned off DCHP, set ports and gateway..subnet blah blah) and it was working fine. My wireless speeds were perfect, and had no issues with that. However, my wired speed was significantly slowed down. I have Verizon Fios and have the wire from that plugged in to LAN port 1 on my DIR-615. I have another wire going from Port 2 to the back of my PC. My normal speeds are about 30mbps down and 25mbps up. When I connect my internet through the second router (DIR-615) I get a maximum of about 3.0mbps up and down, doesn't go much higher than that. The wireless however, gives me about 11mbps both ways, which is fine.
I thought it might have been a firmware issue so I flashed to DD-WRT (build 15778), but the problem persists. I've tried most everything and am getting desperate. There's absolutely no logical reasoning for the slowdown. I have confirmed it's a router issue because I also turned off wireless on my laptop and plugged that directly into the router instead of my desktop and get the same 3mbps.
Got 1 Linksys WRT54G Router on the ground floor which uses PTCL DSL Internet and 1 D-Link Wireless N Gigabit Router on the first floor which uses World Call Cable Internet of my house. So yeah we have two internet connections.Getting weak signals from both of the routers in my room on the far left side of the house and little to no signals in the basementSo what I want to ask is that should I purchase better routers or should I go with a signal booster of some sorts like an Access Point or a Range Extender?Also is there such a device which would catch signals from both of these differently configured routers ( different internets, different wireless security keys etc ) and then boost them throughout the house if placed in an area where both the router signals are strong?

My lenovo Y580 sees speed drop to 130 immediately and then it can slowly progress to 1 Mbps until the hardware is all rebooted. Same happens to my Nexus 7, Dell XPS M1530 and to my roku. I have updated to 2.07 (since 2.10 is advised to avoid). And I have attempted changing channels or factory refresh.What Firmware version is currently loaded? 2.07What region are you located?

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic. Independent of issue, not a factor
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing. Wired works perfect.Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Cat6 is recommended. Wireless issue.

I have a problem with my tp-link router. I dont have an internet access of the router, updated firmware... When i connect to router by laptop the internet works fine, but when i connect to router by phone i have an internet access only 5 second and than i lost it, but still connected. I don't know what is the problem here, maybe phone?
I have just moved into a new apartment that has a free wifi connection the problem is that my apartment is in the basement at the completly opposite side of the office and i cant get a strong enough signal to connect to the internet and im not very good with computers. the first time i tride setting up the repeater i was able to connect everything and get online but it had changed the ssid and when i tride to change it bacck to its origanil name i lost my internet connection and have not been able to get access the internet again.

View 14 Replies View RelatedToday I bought a new TP-Link Wireless Router in China, (TL-WR845N), and set it up with followed instructions with the router IP setup too with 192.168.1.1. Before, it was only LAN and now I bought the wireless to use my iPhone with it. Now LAN wont work at all on either of my computers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Ethernet drivers, rebooted/checked the modem and router, but still couldn't get it to work. My Windows XP shows connected, but Chrome says unable to connect to the Internet.
I've checked TCP/IP settings, made it automatic, still nothing.
I have a desktop and DIR-655 router upstairs [small house]. Downstairs I have a laptop and a new Panasonic Viera tv with built in WiFi. Panasonic's instructions are simple and suggest a click on the remote and the tv will be recognized. It has not happened. Error message states no connection to the router. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having strange problems since I got my DIR 655. Set it up, run through factory wizards, and everything works great for a little while. Maybe week, or as soon as a few minutes I'll lose internet connectivity over wifi. Connection is 100% to the router. I can still log into the router via, but not get out of it to the net. If I plug in my pc via the wired ports everything is still great. Factory reset, and set it up again and It might bee good for a little while. Occasionally I'll get a warning on my PC that there is an IP address conflict when its been on for a long time. I've gone back to my WRT-54g since it still works perfectly. I just want my N bandwidth back. I've gone through and toggled just about every setting that I can think of. Advanced DNS is off.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 10 Mbps Internet connection, if I connect my PC directly to my modem I get the 10Mbps sometimes more, also I get them if I connect my modem to my switch and from the switch the computer.The problem comes when I connect my modem to the D-link DIR-600 router and from the RJ-45 connectors of the D-link I connect my computer, i get 0.80, 1.5 max. and my wifi devices gets the 10mbps. Everything works great, but once or twice a day, randomly the wifi signal will just dropout, I cant see it in my networks list, if I connect directly to my router the connection is fine. If I reset the router by cutting power wifi will start working again. Is there an beta firmware for the B1 I can try? Everything on the router is set to pretty much default.
