Just installed my new 8960 and it's working fine. However, I'd like to disable admin access from wireless, and only have that available via the LAN. I can't find anything that looks like it'll do that in any of the setup pages, is it possible? All previous wireless routers I've had have been able to do this.

Mar 16, 2012I have a MI-FI dongle which i use to connect to the internet (small wireless router) It does not support a wireless printer though. So I figured IU would use the old BT Home hub I had to connect my computer and the printer.
This worked for a few minuites untill the computer decided that the home hub should be dominent and instead of accesing the internet the browser would show the bt cannot conect to the internet page.

Dec 28, 2012I recently had my Internet disconnected, and decided to share my iPhone's Internet connection (tether) with my PC. Now, the iPhone connection works, but for some reason my PC prefers to use my original Internet connection thus no connection. The only way I can access the Internet is by going into adapter settings and disabling my router, but I do not want to do this as I have other computers on the network and I often share files.

Almost 3 months ago the router stopped working completely and I started to search for support in Uruguay.After calling US support I was told I should contact the local or regional D-Link (which I later found is D-Link LA). And via DLinkLA.com I found the company TELEDATA S.A. url... who does the official support for D-Link in Uruguay. They told me the router couldn't be fixed, and told me DLinkLA, which is based in Chile, would either send me a working one (they also told me the service/warrany was already approved), or send me the money and gave me their contact details.After two weeks of contacting them, trying to get their attention, they finally told me it was not their responsibility because it was bought in the US. And now they don't return my e-mails.

Mar 4, 2011I have a switch connected from the internet outtake in my apartment.This switch gives internet to two, or sometimes three computers, by cable.To get wireless I have a DLINK-615 connected after the switch.This solution works flawless for some time, just after the router is started or reset. If I go to speedtest.net both the upload and the download works flawless.However, after around half an hour it's virtually impossible to upload, which gives heavy lag in programs like skype and games. If you try to speedtest.net now the download is still fine, but the upload gives a result of 0.1mb/sec after trying to even start the test for 3-4 minutes.Router giving up upload completely
I've tried to change the IP in the router to prevent a conflict between it and the switch. The problem is still there whatever IP I choose though, I simply have no upload.I've also tried to disable the DHCP, mess with the MTU and to enable the Access Point mode with no result.

I was somewhat surprised when tier 3 support said this was the best place to cover them all - including the bug.We are using firmware version 1.02, which is what the camera came with.
In the webgui, under Configuration > Tools > System > "Turn off the LED indicator" this is completely ignored by the camera. The red power LED is always on, and the green status LED flashes as long as it has a network connection. This is clearly a bug.What is the root password?Is there a URL we can pole for a static image? (ie.url... which would trigger a snapshot every time the URL is requested)Are there any shell commands for motor control? If so, what are they?Is there a shell command to retrieve logged in users? If so, what is it?Is there a shell command for controlling the LED activity? It would be really nice if the status LED lit green when there was someone logged on to the webgui. Perhaps this is the intended activity, and it not doing so should be filed away as part of the above bug..
Network :: Internet Doesn't Completely Turn Off?
Aug 8, 2011I'm on a home computer and we use a router to deliver internet connection to the multiple computers in our house.However, lately I have been noticing that occasionally one of the computer's, on the network, internet connection drops but yet all the other computers are still working fine with their internet connection. And the internet doesn't completely turn off, like there is no "X" on the two computer screens down below...it just loses its little globe icon...In order to get back the internet, you would have to basically disconnect from the internet connection network and then go back into it and it's back again.
I was wondering, because I'm starting to get suspicious, is it possible that somebody on the network in my house the deliberately found a way to turn of the internet access for one of the computers? I was alerted by checking different websites that it is possible that somebody on your own home network can "hack" into another computer, view its internet history, and even disable internet. How do I know this is happening for sure and take steps to stop it. I want to catch who is doing this because nobody is telling the truth .

Sep 19, 2010I've had my DIR-615 up for several months, and it's been faultless except for one thing. I have router in front of it and only use the 615 as a switch and AP. My main router provides IPv6 access through a 6to4, using radvd to broadcast to the rest of the network.
Whatever setting I set the 615 to for IPv6, it always sends out a default route. On rare occasion, it'll interfere with the correct route from my main router (whose router preference is set to high, instead of medium). Even in local-only mode, the 615 sends out a default route. It's an E1 with the 5.00NA firmware, which I believe is the latest.
I'd really like to disable the advertisements from the 615 altogether, while keeping L2 IPv6 support on the wireless and all. I picked this router explicitly because many routers don't work with IPv6 over WiFi, but it'd be nice to get it working perfectly. If there aren't any ways to do this, is there a place that I can download the source for the firmware?

According to the manual, when I go to edit my WAN connection, I should be able to enable/disable the SPI firewall. However, on my firmware I get no such option. My SPI firewall is always enabled.
I would like to be able to completely disable it when I'm testing so that I can ensure the firewall is not interfering with my tests.
