D-Link DIR-825 :: Can't Come Into Recovery Mode
Feb 2, 2013I can't come into recovery mode DIR-835 for restoration of a native insertion.
View 4 RepliesI can't come into recovery mode DIR-835 for restoration of a native insertion.
View 4 RepliesI just bought an N66U and started the process of flashing dd-wrt onto it via Asus' web GUI. I followed the steps on their wiki and it said 'complete!' I went to do another hard reset, as per the instructions, and no dice. I fear I may have bricked it
The next apparent step to me was to get it into recovery mode and either restore the asus fw or continue down that path with the ddwrt stuff, but I can't get it into restore mode
The documentation says the power LED is supposed to blink 'slowly' after holding the reset button + insert power adapter. I can't get to this stage.
Also, whenever I plug it in, the LED's on ports 2, 1, and WAN are solid for a few seconds. I don't know if it did this before, but I thought it could be an error code of some sort.
Any way for password recovery on 3560X without pressing "mode button"? A way, for example, to reach ROMMON with some escape sequence as in routers?
I have SWITCHES with CISCO 3560X boards embedded and they don't have the "mode button" taken out. So, it's a problem if there's no other way of restoring it.
i need to recover a router Cisco 2801. I lost the password and the "no service password-recovery" is configured. I have done many attempts with the procedure in this link :URL
View 9 Replies View Relatedi got a Dir-655 router and Dell 1501 wireless -N mini PCI card (802.11 bgn compliant). Router was set to mix mode but my desktop Dell XP8300 can connect only till G mode.
1) I search on web and some said that i need to set my router to N mode only for my desktop to connect to N mode. IS THIS SOLUTION CORRECT??
2) Another issue was my sis got other old brand latop which can only connect to B mode, if i set to N mode only, she won't be able to connect it right?
I am connected to my TP-Link Wireless N AP via wireless on my laptop. The AP is set to the Wireless AP config but I have forgotten the wireless key i defined when i configured Wireless AP, so therefor cannot successfully connect any other device to the network. The key has been saved on the computer its connected to via wireless (my laptop) and I was wodering if i could use this fact or any other method of recovering the key? I am using Win Vista on this system.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded my home router from a 615 to a 655, so I thought I would use the old router as a repeater bridge at another location.
I read that the DD-WRT firmware offered a repeater bridge function, so I successfully flashed the 615 C1 with the latest release 7/12.
I get all of the configuration steps, and even have set up client bridge mode. My problem is when I bring down the list of available wireless modes, repeater bridge isn't on the list.
Is the C1 version not able to do this? is there something else I need to do to enable a repeater bridge?
hardware version D3, FW 4.10 and 4.11 same problem.
i tried with 4 wlan adapters: two of them support 802.11b/g, they always work find no matter which settings. the other two support 802.11b/g/n, as default "n" is enabled, so does DIR-615, both wlan adapters can be connected to DIR-615, they get their LAN-IP, but they can access neither DIR-615(no respone to ping) nor internet. but if i disable "n" mode either in the adapter or in DIR-615, everythin works fine, of course only with 54mbit max.
so what can i do to use the n mode?
We've been using an 655 in an NGO office that has grown to 20+ computers in two buildings (next to each other). The 655 doesn't seem to be handling that many clients very well so I want to get another one (perhaps a more powerful unit). We will stay operating on 2.5Ghz, have one of the units act as an AP in the other building (too bad we can't bridge with these). Most of the router activity is LAN based (server, etc). Our Internet connection is only 256kbps satellite (and is proxied first through the server). But the LAN performance is not good when many clients are active and some services on the router will freeze and require reboot several times a week, assuming b/c it's overtaxed.
1. know if the 825 will perform better in in 2.5ghz only mode than the 655? Seems that it has more RAM. Newer processor too? The tests I saw online showed that the 655 outperformed the 825 in simultaneously connections, but I assume that was probably in dual mode. I want to know if the 825 will be better in 2.5ghz only mode. We won't need 5ghz mode.
2. Is there another newer DLink I should consider that would provide better capacity and throughput on 2.5ghz only? However, it is ciritical that we keep the same feature set for security (IP based access control rules to various IP ranges on the Internet).
3. It would be awesome if some DLink supported even more sources and/or destinations per access control rule. We use these extensively and the 655 B1 2.01 build has several bugs for access control rules. Is there any DLink that has more robust access control or is it about the same for all?
Is there a client mode option for the DIR-655?I just got a nice cable modem/router from my ISP and I'd like to re-purpose my DIR-655.If I could turn a usb webcam, printer, or harddrive into wireless client, that would be cool. I would just rather re-purpose the device versus selling it.

I installed an Intel 4965AGN into my Dell Inspiron (running Windows 7) to connect with 802.11n to my D-Link DIR-655. It refuses to connect in N mode, it will only connect in G mode. I have tried everything I could find online. I set security to WPA2-AES, and even tried with no security with no luck whatsoever. Before the 4965AGN i had an Intel 5300 which had the same problem, but I returned it because I thought it was a problem with compatibility with my Dell. Apparently something else is the culprit. What could I be over-looking?

I'm facing problem to properly set BRIDGE mode (WDS Bridging). I had a router connected to ADSL line with following setting:
IP 192.168.1.1
Security setting - WPA2/TKIP
DHCP on
The wi-fi coverage is not good in all the floor so I'm trying to extend coverage using a TL-MR3220. I did follow the instruction in this video [url]....
I m setup for my brother's next house. He wants to use to share with my internet access. I do have 2wire modem provider that has wireless capability in my house. So he have DAP-1522 [bridge mode] and adjust in Wireless Setting, to use SSID manual, (Bell9**) WPA. It s successful, and works well. Problem is cannot use wired to computers, blu-ray, Xbox 360 in same time. it will disconnect frequently because in bridge mode doesn't have DHCP reserved?
My bro bought other one is DIR-655. DAP-1522 keep in [bridge mode] to link to DIR-655 (Static IP), and setup DHCP Reserved. He feel relief that works very well and have no problem with any computers and devices doesn't disconnect anymore. my question is why DAP-1522 doesn't have DHCP reserved when bridge mode that connected to any providers modem?
I have a DSL router Pirelli PDF A1000G.I have a Linksys e3000 and I have a dap-1522.When I bought a dap-1522 I thought it could do access point in fact i saw many videos in dlinktv before choosing an access point from DIY with mike etc to youtube there are 2 videos one showing bridged mode and another ap mode! Now what happens is this I have upgraded from firmware 1.11 that came as default to 1.21 i connect it wired to my linksys e3000 when it is connected with the ethernet cable wired I can connect to the internet and navigate and open sites and my ps3 can connect to it but my range is not very good only 40%!
Now I bring it downstairs remove the ethernet cable and connect it to the power and then you can connect to it but since it isn't connected to my router which is upstairs i can't access websites neither can I play on my ps3!I don't know does only ap mode works when it is connected to the router wired because what happens is if you don't put ethernet cables in the back of the dap-1522 and just connect it to power then here doewnstairs you can connect to the dap-1522 my signal is like 87% but while I'm connected with my laptop I can't access websites and in the ps3 I can't connect!
and choose access points there are (4) listed: dap-1522, dap-1160, dap-1353 and dap-2553, I thought of buying dap-1522 because it could support abgn while 1160 only supports g and 1353 only supports n to repeat to signal here downstairs and be a good access point!
I realized that when I connect dir825 on bridging mode to my current voip router provided by my ISP (dvg-n5402) ,shareport does not work as it seems to be using the default gateway to find the usb, which in this case default gateway goes to the gateway of my voip router. Is there any way that I can make shareport use the gateway of my dir825 instead?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running a DAP-1522 (v1.21) in Bridge mode with a DIR-615 (1.00VG). I have configured the DAP-1522 to access the WiFi network and can see it connects correctly. I have a PC connected to the DAP-1522. Most of the time I can ping the DAP-1522 from the PC but cannot ping the DIR-615. Occasionally when I reboot everything again I can ping the DIR-615 and get full internet access but this usually only lasts a minute or so then it drops. After that I can only ping the DAP-1522. The DAP-1522 always says the Status is "connected" though.
The IP addresses are as follows:
DIR-615: 192.168.0.1
DAP-1522: 192.168.0.50 (static)
PC: 192.168.0.55 (static)
I've got the DAP-1522 connected in AP mode. Multiple N speed laptops but they're limiting out to G speeds (54 mbps). Firmware 1.31. Current config is
Wireless Mode : Access Point
802.11 Band : 2.4GHz
802.11 Mode : n and g

Connecting with brand new windows 7 laptops. N Capable. Some G laptops on the network as well.
I've got a DIR-655 set in bridge mode after a Cisco router. It's been working great for months, but now I'd like to add a new wireless device and want to get the settings. For the life of me, I can't remember how to access it now.The subnet is 192.168.2.XXX I've got a Mac connected through the "internet" port and a cat5 cable. I figure I should be able to go from 192.168.2.1 through 192.168.2.254 and will eventually find it. Is there something I'm missing?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI currently have frontier dsl internet and am using the isp provided modem/router combo and a DIR-655. I have the modem running in bridge mode and the 655 set to PPPoe connection, MTU at 1492. I confirmed the MTU setting on the isp modem/router before bridging it. The question i have is if the router MTU is set to 1492 does everything on the LAN side of the router run at 1492 or does it run at 1500 while the router breaks the packets up? Everything works fine but my pc's all use vista and i'm not sure where to check the mtu settings at and all my game consoles are set to mtu automatic so i can't really see what they're running at either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my network to the 802.11n standard, or at least am trying to do that. Im using a DIR-615 as Access Point and a DAP-1522 as bridge to cover the entire area. After having some trouble figuring out how to set up and connect the devices, i figure out that it might some other problem than my setup of the devices (The symptom was that the connection was ok, but then it seemed to be dropped, even though the DAP-1522 still displayed connected in the status page).
After reading what I could find about the DIR-615 and DAP-1522 in this forum and on the internet, I found a suggestion about changing the Wireless Mode from 802.11b/g/n to 802.11b/g, and after doing that everything works fine, its just not an upgrade anymore.I have fixed the channel to 10, just to check that it wasnt noise from other equipment. The symptoms are very reproducable, trying to connect wiin n-mode and bridge only works for 30-60 secs. Switching back to b/G mode and all is fine.
I just setup 3 webcam DSC-930L for a friends with a router DI-655.
I run the setup for the 3 webcams. If I use my dlink on the local network it work, if I used my dlink from let say at work, it work too. If I used the i pad in WiFi it works.
The problem is when I try to use the i phone or the i pad in 3G mode, sometimes it work but most of the time it doesn't, after about 60sec it says something like check your network settings... When I'm able to see something in my dlink app on the i phone, if I return back to the list after that it doesn't work if I switch camera.
Question is, do I have to forward any port on the router in the virtual server section? I'm assuming no since sometime it work and sometimes no. Do I have to activate the UpnP on the router too?
I turned it on for bridging and it did not auto setup wireless so i need to turn off WPS but my wireless option page is now blank. I rebooted, reset the DAP but still no manual config option. I found I could configure it if I switched it to AP mode but still cannot setup from bridge mode. According to manual a reset does not turn off WPS so what is the answer?

Promiscuous Mode is usually the result of sniffing according to Wiki. Whatever is promiscuous mode. Also, I don't know what device br0 is. I do have my Brother wireless printer connected to the DIR-655 but it's device name is BRW0022581FB096. I was wireless at the time of connection problem, and the wired computer connected to the DIR-655 had been off.
If you are using DAP-1522 A1 and set to 5GHz 802.11 n bridge mode but disconnect randomly. Don't bother to do any troubleshooting because DAP-1522 A1 only support 802.11 draft n and incompatible with 802.11 n. If unit still under warranty then call D-Link and request unit replacement and ask for hardware reversion B1.

I'm running the 1522 as a bridge with v1.21 firmware. I have 2 devices wired to it. I have Wireless MAC cloning disabled (not checked). If I scan my network using a tool such as ipscanner (http:url.....) the devices attached to the bridge are being listed with the 1522's MAC address - not their own.
The connected devices should be showing up with their own MAC addresses. The 1522's address should only be displayed IF MAC cloning is enabled and IF the cloning mode is set to Auto - is my understanding of this feature incorrect or is my 1522 not performing as spec'd?
I was trying to set this up pointed out a back window, but obviously ran into the IR lights reflecting back on the glass. I don't have an external IR light yet, but just tried the manual IR mode and the IR lights stay on.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently have a DAP1522 in Bridge mode with a DIR655. I am only using the 2.4GHz G mode on my 655. In a few days I will be replacing the 655 with an 825. When I log into the 1522 I don't see any settings for Mode, Frequency or Width (while in Bridge mode). The page for wireless setup is blank except for the "Save Settings" button. When I look at the 655, it appears that the 1522 is connected (bridged) at 2.4 GHz G like I would expect. So, when I install the 825 how do I make it connect at 5GHz N or will that be automatic if my SSID on the N mode of the 825 matches SSID on the 1522?

I have a DAP-1522 in my den that I am connecting as a bridge to a Netgear WNDR3800 that in turn is connected to a cable modem in my living room. I have multiple PC's connected to the DAP-1522 via the Ethernet Ports. All the Ethernet connected PC's are getting IP addresses from my Netgear WNDR3800 via DHCP and can access the Internet fine. The weird thing is the PC's connected to the DAP-1522 through the Ethernet ports can't see each other - they are isolated from each other. I can see the DAP-1522 hard wired PC's from a laptop connected wirelessly through the Netgear WNDR3800 but the PC's wired to the DAP-1522 can't see each or communicate to each other via IP, though they can communicate to anything else on the Netgear WNDR3800 wireless network or Internet.Only the PC's connected to the DAP-1522 via the Ethernet ports are isolated from each other. Very strange. This is a problem because I have a NAS device I want to connect to the DAP-1522 that will be shared by the PCs in my den. I do software development and want access between the PC's and NAS device at Ethernet Gigabit speed. I am using default configurations for the DAP-1522. It appears that firmware for the bridging function if funky. I am on firmware version 1.41. The hardware release is A1.Not sure if it is an issue with the DAP-1522 or the Netgear WNDR3800.
