Dell :: Wi-Fi Limit Connection And Power Startup On XPS L322X
Feb 1, 2013
I got my XPS L322X yesterday, and this problem occured from the first time I turned on my laptop. Everytime I turned on or restarted my computer, I could connect to my wifi router, and everything works well in the first 3-5 minutes. But later the wifi connection turned to "limit", and if I searched for the networks again, all wifi hotspots disappeared!
And if this problem popped up, there would be a follow-up problem -- I could not turn off my computer nor restart it! If I tried to restart the computer, it stayed on the "restarting" screen for 5 minutes, and a "power_start_up_failour" error warning later. If I then restarted the computer by pushing the power button for 5 seconds, it showed that the network adapter was disabled. Enableing the adapter would start this whole problem all over again!

Recently acquired a Dell Inspiron 6000. I had the hard drive clean off and Windows XP reinstalled. I have no problem connecting to the internet when I power up if I go through "repair connection". I have to do nearly every time I power on. How do I get it to stop? My other Inspiron had no problems connecting.

Dell pc studio 450s will not recognize network connection after power outage. Have run diagnostic fix multiple times but to avail. I have roadrunner cable broadband connected to voyage router and then to wireless router. Wireless router and vonage works (as evidenced by this email using iPad)
Have already reset everything multiple times including unplugging modem and pc.
From what I understand the pc is getting gatewayaddress or does not recognize.

I seem to have a problem with my Dell DW1520 wireless LAN card installed on a Studio 1747 laptop. The LAN card seems to have a mind of its own and is rarely enabled at start up. Repeatedly restarting the laptop a few times somehow magically enables the network card though. When disabled, I can see the red cross on the task bar (network connection). The network card is not even detected and is not visible in device manager. However, when I restart the laptop a few times, the bars appear, the LAN card appears in device manager and I can connect to the wireless network.
I logged a call with Dell Technical support for this and a different issue (BSOD and restart). They replaced my motherboard and asked me to monitor the situation. While the BSOD/restart issue seems to have disappeared with the motherboard replacement, the wireless LAN card issue still remains. The person that came to install the motherboard also tried installing new drivers for the LAN card but that hasn't worked. Dell tech support now say that I must reinstall the whole Operating System (Windows 7), drivers etc from scratch.

My PC boots fine (via SSD) but as soon as it passes the login screen and brings me to the desktop, the network connection icon has a circle going around it for about 30 seconds. Except the circle isnt moving, or rotating as if it's frozen and when i click on it to go into the network and sharing settings, it hangs. While this happens i can access anything else fine except internet based apps. Once it connects, everything is normal.
I use a Netgear Power line Adapter and have been for years, and have never had a problem with it. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.

I'm running Win7 and have recently had problems at startup. Initially I thought this was a Skype issue as removing it seemed to work, but alas the problem remains with it uninstalled. The PC boots ok and I can open programs quickly enough, but if they need internet access they hang for 5mins or so before the block clears and all is well. I have recently changed ISP provider to BT Broadband (UK) and have a new router which sets itself up and had been working fine.

I working with two PowerEdge R515 systems and for some reason I keep getting strange power errors on the front LCD where it turns orange. It started with one about an on-board regulator failure and this morning when I came in both machines were powered down with a different LCD error, something about the Fault-safe voltage being out of range? They both say to contact support.
I got these error logs this morning. All the power readings show as being ok in the iDRAC page and in ESXi readings.

I have been having problems with my Bluetooth device since I bought my laptop. I downloaded the Toshiba Stacking and all possible drivers that suit my computer, but I get the feeling that it could not connect with the hardware itself. I am using Windows 7. When I try to fix the problem, the program opens a window 'Activate Bluetooth by Fn + F2 or Radio On/Off button.' ot something. With the Fn + F2 keys there is no effect and where to switch on or off the radio. By the way, the Bluetooth light on my laptop is on all the time

After a recent power outage while my PC was in sleep mode, I don't have wired (Ethernet) connectivity.
I have new Dimension E510XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP3 ver had an issue with wired connectivity on this PC after coming out of sleep mode. Of course, the power failure was unusual.
Observations:
- ipconfig /all shows that I have an IP address
- I can ping the DHCP server listed in ipconfig /all and I also can ping google.com.
- I was going to go a restore point set before the power outage. But, somehow system restore had gotten turned off. Oh, well. I did go ahead and turn system restore back on.
Things I've already tried that did not solve the issue:
- Reboot
- Uninstall/reinstall the network adapter driver. Device Manager says the network adapter card is working properly.
- Looked for an updated network adapter driver on Dell's website. Turns out that I have the latest driver already.
- Followed many of the steps from Microsoft at [URL]
- Checked McAfee Security Center firewall permissions list to see if something got changed. Everything looked okay. Also disabled the firewall just to be sure,
- Disabled SafeEyes internet filter.
- Reset the router. Also swapped router ports with a known good PC. The known good PC still had connectivity, the affected PC (the E510) did not.

We have a Power Edge T310, sporting two Broadcom 5716C LOM's. We also have a Power Connect 5524 switch. Good opportunity to team the two network connections using 'Link Aggregation (802.3ad)'. Downloaded the most recent management software off the Broad com site. Installed BACS 3 on the Power Edge, running Windows SBS 2011, which has Windows Server 2008 r2 x64 as it's base.
Started BACS and tried to configure teaming. But there's no teaming-section in BACS. I removed, restarted the server and re-installed the Broad com software, but still no teaming section? How do I solve this?

I would like to set a time limit for how long a client can be continously connected to the WLAN that provides my guest internet access. The user name/password is hosted on my ACS and authentication is provided by my Cisco NAC. I am using 5508 controllers (7.02) and WCS.
Somewhere in this combination of stuff, there has to be a way to set a two hour time limit.

My little ASA 5505 is working great The device appears to be artificially crippled and limited to 10,000 connections. This isn't a "CPU limit" it's just some fake limit in the device as far as I can tell.
The problem we have is that we are only using around 500-600 connections and CPU usage is only like 25%, and yet the connection count is pegged at 10,000 and locks us out of our network.
I am pretty sure this is because there are a lot of "dead" TIME_WAIT connections hanging around not being used. In our application we only have the couple hundred connections but they do move around a bit every now and then.
Is there anyway to get the device to ignore the "dead" connections and not count them towards the artificial limit on the device given that it's pretty clear the CPU / etc., is not utilized sufficiently. These aren't real connections, we only have a couple 100 established, they do just move around a bit however.
We are really only using 500-700 connections according to our servers, the others are just sitting in TIME_WAIT doing nothing.

How do I disable the power management feature that slows my NIC down when I am on battery power?
I have a dell e6500 with a Intel 82567LM Gigabit LAN card that always connects at 10Mbps when I plug in the ethernet cord when I am on battery power, I've tried using different routers (I have two gigabit routers and one 100 mbps router)... it still auto-negotiates at 10 mbps I've tried using different cat6 cables, it still auto-negotiates at 10 mbps.I've checked the drivers, I have 10.0.6.0, which is the latest from the support.dell.com website.
However, the minute I plug in the laptop, the NIC connects at the proper speed. Essentially, when the laptop is using battery power, the NIC decreases it's speed to 10 mbps. When I plug the laptop in, the speed jumps up to what it should be (either 100 mpbs or 1 Gbps, depending on which router I'm plugged in to).
So, how do I disable this feature? I want to connect at the maximum possible speed, regardless if I am plugged in or not.

I had lost power to my apartment and when everything came back on everything was working as normal...until about an hour later when my internet connection was sporadic at best. I called the ISP and they confirmed that the modem is fine. My other computers can connect to it via ethernet cable and wifi so it doesn't appear to be the router.
When I try to ping anything it seems to time out randomly.. (ran "ping Yahoo! -t1" and let it go for a while..times out every 10 requests or so).
I swapped out the ethernet cable but the LEDs on the NIC are Orange(Amber) for both cables. The wifi on the computer works fine. I reinstalled the driver for the NIC.

Lenovo H320
Windows 7 64-bit

We have optimum dsl, windows 7 computers, a windows server a lynksys router and a gigabit switch. The cable power went out in the area last friday. Now they say the internet is on but our network wont pick it up. After reading a number of sites it seems our switch to router may be the issue. the switch has all similar ports for network cable connections. the router has an obvious port for the main cable internet connection. I can not figure out if the location of connectors on the gigabyte switch matter in terms of where the switch and router connect to each other. this all worked last week. my other problem is that i have no internet access at the office to troubleshoot this. I dont remember model numbers for the switch and modem. we have 6 computers networked.

The power went out in the room where my desktop and router and modem and everything is located. The electrical outlet that all of those things were connected to suddenly stopped working so I had to relocate everything to the other electrical outlet in the room. Everything is working fine again, including the internet connection on my desktop, but now my laptop in the other room will not recognize my wireless connection. It gives me a list of available networks, but none of which are my own. Which makes no sense, as everything is working as normal on my desktop. I tried to "manually connect to a wireless network" by typing in the name and proper security type/encryption type and password, however it tells me a network called (my network name) already exists, and it says "use the existing network. Open the 'connect to a network' dialog so I can connect." or "choose a different name." When I choose the former option, the list of available networks pops up again but mine is not on there. And it should be, as I'm definitely in close range of my router.

need to know the OSPF best design. I have a customer currently running their OSPF only in two area. Area 0 is provider reside and area 1 reside 700 hundred over of router including HQ router and remote branch router connecting to metro-E 10Mbps networks. Is this design have any weakness? Area 1 about 800 hundred router reside in, the HQ model is cisco router 7200 and remote end is cisco router 1841.Let's say they want a solution, for 3G remote router connect back to the HQ using Lease line with a fixed IP. Using DMVPN and OSPF communicating back to HQ. What should we aware when designing and implementing for the OSPF best practice. They have 700 hundred over remote branch need to terminate back to their HQ. I read cisco recommend an area should not be more than 50 router and per-area no more than 28 area.

My computer is a Toshiba Sattelite o/s win 7. My wi fi signal is excellent, yet my signal keeps dropping or saying limited access.I have tried resetting the router and resetting my default windows settings on the computer. All other lap tops and wireless devices in the house do not have an issue.I discovered the other day as long as the laptop ( not the router) is plugged in and not running on batter power that i do not have a problem staying connected. For fun i wondered if it had something to do with the power cord making some kind of connection when plugged into the lap top, (since everything is more compact in them)I tried having the power cord plugged into the lap top but not into a power source but I still lost signal.
