I am getting a message telling me to install F9K1001 Router Firmware, 1.00.12. It lists 6 changes since 1.00.08. I just want to make sure this is not a virus and that it's legit before I install it!
I'm trying to set up my desktop using windows xp and a wireless belkin n150 f9k1001 router to connect to a wireless network that is being sent from a mac with some tp-link router so that I can connect to the internet the isp is bell aliant. I'm not entirely sure how to go about this or if it's possible I've tried the worthless tech support and setting it up as an access point but I don't really know what im doing.
why the following message might appear in my router logs where the 192.168.x.x IP address is a PC on the LAN?*Oct 15 02:24:09.313: %CRYPTO-4-IKMP_NO_SA: IKE message from 192.168.x.x has no SA and is not an initialization offer Do PC's send IKE messages? (its a standard user on Win XP, unlikely any additional VPN software on it).
I just got E1000 cisco wireless router. Started setup, everything worked fine and replaced admin password with my own. For some reason got error message. tried to redo setup and got message router not recognized. used laptop and found out that wireless works fine. After few days noticed that there is a (mynetworkname) guest connection you can connect without any password. i don't need that stupid thing and my question is how to disable guest network? I cannot reach Main Menu from cd and have no idea where to look for it when i connect to router by web.
I know that the routers communicates using routing protocols and that they forward the ip packets. So I looked in the IP header and the RIP header(for example) and I don`t understands when an packet comes in how does the router understands it`s type? (There`s no byte field to tell him explicitly that this is an ip packet or a rip message)
Im getting flooded with the following messages: Feb 14 10:47:19.740 EST: PLATFORM-5-ECC_MSG: A corrected single bit error has occurred in L2C Data Cache at location 0x294.
I am trying to set up a E2500 router to a Arris/Comcast modem. I connected the blue cable to the router then to the modem and followed the Cisco instructions on the disk. I was 90% done when I received a error message 82BD0118 - Description - adapter connection time out period expired with no IP address.
I have strange problem with 1800 router , I can't see any debug messaging , the ping from PC to this router is Ok , but no icmp debug appears , even I enable "debug ip icmp " the version of router is : C181X Software (C181X-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version 12.4(6)T6
I recently bought the E2500 Router and I am using the EA2500 Adapter with it . I have this set-up on 2 Desktop PC's . 1 Pc is working just fine with this set-up . The other keeps giving me an Error message of "Invalid Key Manual" . What does this mean ? The adapter is working because it does find the Router as a usable connection . It just isn't able to connect to it and keeps giving me the same Error message .
My WRT54G router is already feeding 2 wireless PC's with no problem. Haven't been as successful getting my new Samsung Series 7 TV wireless connection working. The TV screen prompts for a 'security key', but once entered, tells me the connection is unsuccessful. The TV does not provide any specific error message - just tells me to re-enter the security key and/or re-start the router (which I have done many times with no success). I am entering the 'Encryption key' from the WRT54G router when prompted by the Samsung TV for the 'security key'.

I just bought a E4200, is there a way change the default text of the pop up message that is used when the client is requested to put in the password to access the guest SID for the e4200?
When i try to connect kf to wifi router, I keep getting password error message when I type my network pw. I have no problem connecting to other wifi connections
I have a Netgear WNR612 wireless router, which worked fine for a few weeks. Then something happened and I can't keep the connection anymore. It happened right after I used iTunes to update my iPhone, perhaps a coincidence, but I'm mentioning that just in case. Internet still works fine with ethernet cable straight from the computer, only the wireless connection doesn't work. This happened about a month ago and I haven't been at home much to fix the problem. I have turned off and unplugged everything for several days at a time while gone. I get a Network Error message saying, Windows has detected an IP address conflict. I have tried restoring the router back to factory settings and reinstalling the wireless card. I have tried changing the IP address settings both in the Network and Sharing Center and the router admin page. What I think I should do is change the IP address in Command Prompt, but when I type "ipconfig /release", it says "No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected" and the same for Local Area Connection. I don't understand what this means, because there is a wireless key in my keyboard and there is a white light (not orange) like there should be. Also in the Network and Sharing Center, I can see that the connections are enabled.
The router had firmware 2.0.x(?) and I tried to update to the latest FW, according to the webpage that's
FW_E1000_2.1.02.006_US_20130115.bin
Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back. The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.
I was using dd-wrt to fix a problem that my router was having (I wasn't able host some online games when router QOS is enabled). However, i can't couldn't take that crappy firmware anymore (its web gui was way to slow, painfully slow actually and it crashed alot) and will never use it again in life. I was finally able to get back to the default linksys firmware but now I have the same previous problem. I am now using the latest firmware "Firmware Version v1.02.8' for my WRT54g v6. I never backed up up the previous firmware for this router before i upgraded to v1.02.8 so any link to a previous version or the first version of firmware for this router that will be great. I've been look all around the internet and I can't find it, from searching around i found out that linksys hand an ftp archive of firmwares but it stopped working around 2010. So, where i can get at older version, or even a third party firmware OTHER THAN DD-WRT that works with the WRT54g v6 router.
I don't even know if the older firmware would fix this problem, but I dont want to have to be disabling QOS every time i want to play this game because the people in my house will hog the bandwidth and i will get lag, but its worth a shot.
I have a BEFSR41 that has been flawless to date but it is version 1 (I think). I have gigabit nics on all PCs but I am wondering if the old version 1 is only capable of 10mbps throughput. If that is the case then it may explain why I can get up to 20mbps download speeds off the modem and under 10mbps off the router. The router has the latest firmware and otherwise no problems.
1 - Motorola Modem (horrible ISP) 2 - Dlink DIR 655 wireless router (about 2-3 years old) 3 - 2 laptops (windows 7/both) 4 - DirecTV broadband box (can't remember how that hooked up to the router?) 5 - Playstation 3 6 - (3) DTV sat receivers
The problem started while trying to connect the PS3 to the existing network. Only one laptop is wifi, the other laptop and Ps3 are in my room and wired in to the router, and the strange little DirecTV box is in the wired mix(for on-demand i guess?) The PS3 could not log-in to the PSNetwork(still can't), but it could browse the web just fine. So I start manually typing in IP addresses, 6 IP's in all, including the sharing of 3 DTV boxes that show up on the network on my admin laptop. Didn't work, so I get into the DLink router URL and start opening up ports that PSNetwork uses. At this point I think I have it figured out, then I did a firmware update on the router. My laptop, the PS3(internet, no PSNetwork) and even the little DTV box was working fine, all wired in, using 3 of the four ports. The old lady's laptop in the living room not only couldn't get on-line, it couldn't detect a wifi network? So try to set up a new real quick before I left this AM.. No beans!! I looked at the specs for the router, the firmware is up to date but from early 2010, and the features say "NO" to gaming support..
Do I get another router that can handle all the devices and is PS3 friendly, if that's even a thing!? I can't roll back the firmware update cause I wasn't able to back up the settings, and honestly theres a good chance I did something really bad as far as trying to tweak that router to open up ports for the specific IP address that goes to the game console. We'll call it 191.55.55.99. When I thought I was finished, the PS3 IP address had switched to 191.55.55.98? So it dropped down a number, I thought it was static, and all my efforts were for the --99 IP address, basically I have network issues consisting of Satalite tv boxes, a public DTV share folder, a video game console, one wired and one wireless, and a router that I WANT TO SET ON FIRE!
We are currently trying to installed LMS 4.0 on a VM Ware instance of Windows 2008r2, and getting the error "cannot run name lookup" message when launching the installation. We are launching the Win2008 patch and it asks for the desination of the LMS application then spits out this message.
so I've recently reinstalled my OS (windows 7 32bit) because I got a BSOD for some uknown reason and it kept booting to NTFS file checker, anyway this is irrelevant.since the reinstall, ive been getting pretty annoying latency spikes. The only game I've got installed ATM is counterstrike: source so no I haven't tried out any other games. My connection consists of a netgear wireless G router routing a 10mb virgin media connection to my belkin wireless G USB adapter.my drivers are all up to date, including the adapter. I cannot update my firmware because the netgear router is owned by VM and they don't allow firmware updates from netgear (I've tried and failed to update) for some unknown reason.
In games, sometimes it runs smoothly, and other times I get really bad latency spikes. It will all be running fine at about 30ping but then it will lag and shoot up to 300/350. it will then keep doing this intermittently, rendering the online game unplayable as I'm being owned by AWPers everywhere. It's definitely me as other people in the server also on VM are experiencing no lag. On top of this, I sometimes find my browser will run extremely slow on occasions, as well as downloads becoming slow on some occasions.
1. what are the actual functions/roles of a router firmware? Does the firmware work at routing or forwarding? 2. does the firmware automatically processes data? or...can he do that? 3. if a person connects to the internet through the router...does he came in contact with the firmware functions? 4. is the firmware accessed only when the user enters the configuration panel of the router?
I have a Netgear WNDR3400 router and I would like to just dabble with it and see if I can't get any more performance out of it. I checked dd-wrt already and it isn't supported yet. Any other place to get custom firmware for my router type?
So, I messed around with my router a little too much and just want to restore it back to the original firmware now. I have a WRT54GS v7 Linksys router and tried to follow this guide to flash the firmware to something a little more useful. After step 7 of that guide, I can't ping my router, can't access the GUI, and have no idea what my router's IP is. If I assign each computer plugged into the router an IP like 192.168.1.2 I can ping them, so the router is still functioning somewhat. I'm plugged into my modem right now to get on the Internet.
Right now, my power light is off, my DMZ light is off, my WLAN light is off, but the other lights turn on if I plug a cord into its port (plug a computer into port 1, port 1's light comes on). When I do an ipconfig /all i get this. I doubt the web interface still works, but if I could at least get the router's IP, couldn't I use tftp and put the firmware on that way?
