Cisco Switching/Routing :: Can't See Any Debug Message On 1800 Router
Jul 19, 2012
I have strange problem with 1800 router , I can't see any debug messaging , the ping from PC to this router is Ok , but no icmp debug appears , even I enable "debug ip icmp " the version of router is : C181X Software (C181X-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version 12.4(6)T6
I am new user of cisco router i can access the hardware and login in the account but the problem is if i use the command "enable" asking for a password, old I.T. personnel who setup this router already resign.
I've created a BVI2 where I bridged dot11 0.2 and vlan2 in order to have wired and wireless clients in the same vlan. Some wired client are not reachable from the lan. Wireless clients have no pbl in reaching each other.Monitoring a MAC address that is supposed to be behind the FA2 I have noticed that it moves to vlan2 when in fact it should be behind the FA2.Of course when "show mac-address-table" says it is behind Fa2 the ping to that MAC address works whereas when the TCAM reports it is behind vlan2 it doesn't. Once the MAC address is behind the vlan2 if I clear the mac-address-table and that mac-address is still put behinf Fa2 then the pings works again, sometime I have to perform twice the clear command before the MAC address goes back to the right location.I'd like to understand why the router moves that MAC address from Fa2 to vlan2 and that's the reason for my question in the subject.I don't have any problems for port Fa0 and Fa1."Show int fa2" doesn't show any problem/errors or the likes.BTW even if I force that MAC address to be statically behind FA2 the ping works fine but then stops and if I do "show mac-add" the static entry for it is still there... so looks like there us something that overrides that static entry. If clear everything and I have the mac-address be behind Fa2 then everything starts to work again. I used Fa3 instead of Fa2 and I get the same results.
I am not able to find the exact bug for Cisco 3750E stack - Debug Exception (Could be NULL pointer dereference) Exception (0x2000) error. Closest i can find is CSCsa72400 which only affects ver 12.2(20)SE4.All the stacks (3 switches) are running 12.2(50)SE3, It appears that the switch 1 crashed and reloaded. My hunch is its software but i cant find any related bugs. It could be hardware issue as well ?
My Nexus is a 5548-UP model, NX-OS version : 5.1(3)N2(1b)
I try to debug an OSPF and an ICMP problem using the debug ip ospf command and the debug icmp command but not output appear on the terminal. As the switch is remote, I entered the terminal monitor command of course.
SG01NX01# terminal monitor SG01NX01# debug ip ospf 1 packets SG01NX01# show debug
I'm testing debug spanning-tree functions in a lab, hardware is Cisco 6509 with SUP-720-3B and WS-X6748-SFP, IOS is 12.2.33.SXJ. It's a root in some vlan's, stp mode is rapid-pvst.I wanted to see how spanning-tree is working (STP packets dump, etc.), and entered following commands on 6509: [code]
Then, I turned the "debug spanning-tree all" mode on. Now, I expect to see BPDU packets from Cisco, and other spanning tree events in logs on syslog server, or in log buffer, but I don't get anyting there. Except, there're some lines in log (they repeat very rare): [code]
I have aaa new model configured on a number of isr's(1800, 1900, 2900, 3800 etc). When i have aaa configured, the telnet logins use that authentication and not the password in the line vty portion. Is this by design. would disabling aaa enable both telnet and aaa authentications, essentially making it a dual login.
I have an 1800 isr that is running with port forwarding only. It is running a series of ip nat inside source static address port address port commands. It does not have an access list bound to the outside interface. This is working fine, but i am wondering if this is a security concern?
I've just started out playing with a Cisco 1800 router to gain some knowledge of Cisco devices before taking a CCNA. I also have a 2950 switch but will start with the router.
I'm using an Android phone as a wireless Internet access point. This issues IP addresses by DHCP in the 192.168.43.x range with 255.255.255.0 subnet.
Also I have a Linksys WRT54G router running DD-WRT firmware acting as a wireless bridge to the Android phone, and it has 4 LAN ports.
This bridge is up and running and I have successfully connected my laptop to the Linksys for testing and can use the Internet provided by the phone.
Connected to the Linksys is a Cisco 1800 router. Connected to the router is my Citrix XenServer PC and a NAS box.
The XenServer and NAS are on another network 07.05.19.x range with 255.0.0.0 subnet using their own static IPs. One of the virtual clients on the XenServer will be a DHCP server to service other virtual clients. All still in the 07.05.19.x range.
Basically I want the devices on the 07.05.19.x IP range to be able to use the Internet gateway at 192.168.43.1 to access the Internet.
How would I set up my 1800 to achieve this?
Also, am I right in understanding that the 1800 will ignore DHCP leases from the Android phone due to it being a Layer 3 device.
I don't know much about routers, but lately I've been playing around with router configuration and getting better but I am kind of stuck now.
The scenario is this.
I have 3 ip net from the ISP: 178.249.51.0/255.255.255.248 Gateway 178.249.51.1 178.249.51.8/255.255.255.248 Gateway 178.249.51.9 178.249.51.16/255.255.255.248 Gateway 178.249.51.17
[Code]....
I am also wondering - when we get more public IP net from the ISP, is this the correct way to do it?
I'm using "WS-C4948(12.2(54)SG)+PWR-C49-300AC/2". The following message are logged in the system log, but it was to check the status with the show command and status LED, but there was no abnormality. I thought the power supply has failed, but I seem different.

I've taken 2 4507's fresh out of the box running CAT4500E-ENTSERVICESK9-MZ.122-53.SG2.BIN which was upgraded from CAT4500E-IPBASEK9-MZ.122-53.SG2.BIN
I'm getting constant %C4K_S2W-4-WRITECALENDARERR: Calendar write operation Failed errors on the console. I was also getting them on the original IOS version.
Anything I've seen say's to ignore them but their very frequent filling up the logs.
There's very little return on google and no bugs to report on Cisco?
Have a small stack of two 3750 routers. Get the following error message every few secounds:
%STACKMGR-4-STACK_LINK_CHANGE: Stack Port 1 Switch 1 has changed to state DOWN %STACKMGR-4-STACK_LINK_CHANGE: Stack Port 1 Switch 1 has changed to state UP
Now I replaced the stacking cables but no joy. It was ok for an hr or so but then the error messages popped up again. Also random links on this stack back to access layer user switches have been going up and down randomly. So I have decided to take the next step and upgrade the IOS.
Although when I try and copy a new IOS I get the following error:
%Error writing flash:/c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin (No space left on device)
Seems this image is 130MB while the image that is currently on it is 74MB and free space is 54MB. How do I get the image onto the router? If I delete the current image from flash will that cause the router to stop functioning?
Also I noticed there seems to be more than one flash directory. See below:
copy tftp: ? flash1: Copy to flash1: file system flash2: Copy to flash2: file system flash: Copy to flash: file system null: Copy to null: file system nvram: Copy to nvram: file system running-config Update (merge with) current system configuration startup-config Copy to startup configuration system: Copy to system: file system vb: Copy to vb: file system
The current router image seems to be in flash1 and flash 2 also. Could I delete the image from flash1. Upload it there and then boot the router from flash1?
It never happened before and the configuration did not change. The only thing that happened, the WAN connection (point-to-point to a Cisco 3845) went down and the router rebooted while the WAN was down. When the WAN came up again, everything went fine, until about an hour later and the first occurrence of this mentioned log. This 3945 does establish an IPSec tunnel with its peer (the 3845) and all the traffic, including OSPF, is going through the tunnel.
my MSFC2 sent this strange log message. %DATACORRUPTION-SP-1-DATAINCONSISTENCY: copy error, The error message decoder tool says: "NOT FOUND". The level is "alert".
We are running a small network business and as funs of ciscos we own a some of the 4948s.We are facing an issue with couple of them as we get the below error message
C4K_CHASSIS-3-INSUFFICIENTPOWERSUPPLIESDETECTED:Insufficient power supplies present for specified configuration
First thought to replace the power supply didn't actually work as we did that with no result.Power consumption is not an issue as well because all other 4948s work fine with 1 power supply (forgot to mention is 1 power supply in all of them).
I recently upgraded my network to have two 3750x core, one interface on the Cisco is connecting to a Net gear switch via a fiber converter. I am keep getting the vlan flapping error message in my log as below.
003396: Sep 17 01:46:16.328: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host 5c0e.8ba7.0a5c in vlan 2 is flapping between port Gi2/0/15 and port Gi2/0/13 003397: Sep 17 01:46:19.843: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host 5c0e.8ba7.0a5c in vlan 2 is flapping between port Gi2/0/15 and port Gi2/0/13 003400: Sep 17 01:49:58.769: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet2/0/17, changed state to down [Code] .....
After my research i think this is a looping issue but I'm unsure how to address it.
logging buffered 4096 warnings The above causes router to log all the events with severity level 4 or below in buffer. What about logging console warnings command?will the above command cause router to send log messages with severity level 4( warnings severity level) to console only or will the router send all the log messages with severity level 4 or below to console ?
I recently upgraded a few 2960 switches to 15.0(1)SE, and while they are working fine, I did notice a strange syslog message upon boot-up that wasn't previously there. [code] I did some cursory searching via google but nothing useful presented itself.
I am receiving this error after connecting a copper adapter on a GBIC blade in a 6509. Here are the results from the show Interface. I am waiting to confirm the device on the other side settings but as far as I see I get UP and Up for protocol and line respectively.
