Cisco Switching/Routing :: C3950 - Intermittent Message / May Suspend At Level 4

Jul 16, 2012

For a week now, one of my Cisco 3945 routers displays, from time to time, the following message in its log:

2012-07-16T14:12:43.852017+00:00 cb00-r103 220: [syslog@9 s_sn="59"]: Jul 16 16:12:42 MEST: %SYS-2-INTSCHED: 'may_suspend' at level 4  -Process= "OSPF-100 Hello", ipl= 4, pid= 320

It never happened before and the configuration did not change. The only thing that happened, the WAN connection (point-to-point to a Cisco 3845) went down and the router rebooted while the WAN was down. When the WAN came up again, everything went fine, until about an hour later and the first occurrence of this mentioned log. This 3945 does establish an IPSec tunnel with its peer (the 3845) and all the traffic, including OSPF, is going through the tunnel.

Cisco Firewall :: Changing Syslog Message 106100 Severity Level?

Mar 5, 2012

I'm fine tuning some of our ASA logging config, and am having an issue with one particular syslog ID.The message is: syslog 106100: default-level informational (enabled)and the log settings are:

Syslog logging: enabled
Facility: 20
Timestamp logging: enabled
Standby logging: disabled
Debug-trace logging: disabled

[code]....

This ACE log entry is generated by explicit deny any any statements at the end of all the ACLs, e.g.access-list inside_access_in extended deny ip any any log interval 600 Based on the config, I would expect to see this being logged to the syslog server, but not to the local buffer, but am still seeing them locally in the buffer:

Feb 22 2012 10:58:20: %ASA-4-106100: access-list inside_access_in denied udp INSIDE/HOSTABC(52629) -> OUTSIDE/HOSTXXX(162) hit-cnt 5 300-second interval [0x3baecf1e, 0x0]

It also still shows these as level "warning", %ASA-4-106100, instead of the default %ASA-6-106100 I've tried removing and re-applying the config at different levels but it still reports in the buffer log as level "warning", %ASA-4-106100 This also doesnt affect every 106100 log that is generated. Most messages are generated at the correct level 6 severity but some seem to randomly log at level 4. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to this. The same access-list line can produce severity level 4 and 6 106100 messages.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 881w - ISR Invalid Memory Action At Interrupt Level

Feb 7, 2013

My company has an 881-w ISR that provides wireless and wired network functions for our small office (about 20 users).  I was attempting to create a new V LAN (another story), and was able to create the V LAN (4) and assign it a new IP.  However, when i came in today, and when i attempted to connect to the ISR, the serial console started spewing this over and over:

*Feb  8 13:31:32.479: %SYS-2-MALLOCFAIL: Memory allocation of 8 bytes failed from 0x81528DF0, alignment 0
Pool: Processor  Free: 131305952  Cause: Interrupt level allocation
Alternate Pool: I/O  Free: 17850656   Invalid memory action (malloc) at interrupt level -Traceback= 0x820168A0z 0x82E4
-Process= "<interrupt level>", ipl= 4 -Traceback= 0x81FF6FC8z 0x820168D0z 0x82E49944z 0x81528DF4z 0x800C3AF8z 0x800C4760z 0x810A1208z 0x810A6F8Cz 0x810BA9E0z 0x810BACBCz 0x80241A24z 0x8025ADE8z 0x8025E2F8z 0x8030ACD4z 0x804E1518z 0x80310368z

[code]....

Now, I did leave the console session up overnight, as that's the only thing that I can think of.  As expected, our service contract had expired.  I did reboot the ISR, and I am looking to see if this can be fixed, or symptomatic of a larger issue, and time to replace?  At this point i can't even get it to stop, and thus cannot log in.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 4510 - Intermittent Packet Drops In Network

Nov 30, 2011

We are facing issue related to STP.I am getting MAC FLAP error on Cisco 4510 switch. The effect on network is intermittent Pkt drops in the network. When I checked the specific Ip address I am getting the same with two different. [code] Vlan is created on CORE switch and assign priority 0 than CORE switch should be the Root. but instead Root port is becoming the port where server is connected. Server at last connected to CORE switch via HP switch via other Vlan to CORE switch and creating a loop as shown in Diag. [code] The Priority of Vlan 102 is changed and Root port has been changed due to that. The Bridge ID is the same as CORE switch.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Any Function Built In Nexus 5010 To Detect Intermittent Link Down

Nov 23, 2011

I found intermittent link down(20~40 seconds average) occurred about 1~10 times every month. SAP reported a lot of active connections are disconnected and I used a batch to ping and found "requested time out" about 30 seconds. And Windows, SQL server, Nexus 5010 do not show any errors. We run cluster and cluster does not fail over. And I don't know which cables or nics cause this issue. When it happened, almost all servers are unreachable. For example, SQL server 1 -> SQL server 2, IBM HS22-1 -> SQL server 1. However, some connections are not dropped sometimes. It varies each time.PS: I run this topology last year without any problems but it started intermittent link down from 2011/1/7. Because there is no errors in Nexus 5010, it is difficult to troubleshoot. Cisco TAC recommended us to implement virtual port channel yesterday. Could I use "errdisable detect cause" to detect what caused the intermittent link down? Is there any error logs or switch parameters/status can use to troubleshoot?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - Error Message While IOS Upgrade

Jan 6, 2013

Have a small stack of two 3750 routers.  Get the following error message every few secounds:

%STACKMGR-4-STACK_LINK_CHANGE: Stack Port 1 Switch 1 has changed to state DOWN
%STACKMGR-4-STACK_LINK_CHANGE: Stack Port 1 Switch 1 has changed to state UP

Now I replaced the stacking cables but no joy. It was ok for an hr or so but then the error messages popped up again. Also random links on this stack back to access layer user switches have been going up and down randomly. So I have decided to take the next step and upgrade the IOS.

Although when I try and copy a new IOS I get the following error:

%Error writing flash:/c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin (No space left on device)

Seems this image is 130MB while the image that is currently on it is 74MB and free space is 54MB. How do I get the image onto the router? If I delete the current image from flash will that cause the router to stop functioning?

Also I noticed there seems to be more than one flash directory. See below:

copy tftp: ?
flash1:         Copy to flash1: file system
flash2:         Copy to flash2: file system
flash:          Copy to flash: file system
null:           Copy to null: file system
nvram:          Copy to nvram: file system
running-config  Update (merge with) current system configuration
  startup-config  Copy to startup configuration
system:         Copy to system: file system
vb:             Copy to vb: file system

The current router image seems to be in flash1 and flash 2 also. Could I delete the image from flash1. Upload it there and then boot the router from flash1?
