I have networking skills but I am unsure of how to properly configure routing so that everything can be seen on the network and access internet.Switch is for all towers/servers and router is for laptops.
I have two NICs and two seperated network connections on Windows Vista System. I want all visits to websites that are blocked by our Corporation LAN go to the external network, so I can use my personal emails etc.All the other applications still use corporation LAN.
1) Corporation LAN subnet: (Connection 1 - DHCP)
IP: 142.241.X.X
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 142.241.X.X
2) External network LAN subnet: (Connection 2 - DHCP)
IP: 192.168.1.X
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

I am about to get a group of 5 public (external) IP addresses from my ISP. I have a Netgear WNDR3700v2 router. I was told that 1:1 NAT would be the way to assign static public IP addresses to some of my computers, while making the rest use private network IP addresses (issued by a DHCP server), and have all the computers accessible in the same domain network.
Is this possible using my netgear WNDR3700v2 router? If not, what do I need?I was looking at the Netgear FVS318G wired router, and I would then use my existing router as an access point. Does this make sense?

* Set-up port forwarding (port 80(http) and port 443 (https)) on router
* open both port (80 and 443) on my computer and exmy windows firewall

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had this small internet cafe with 15 units pc. and browsing the web is not that stable. i have to unplug the internet modem everytime i can't connect to the internet.I think it has something to do with the settings that was in the router since it was just configured by a tech guy which i think not 100% sure of what he did, though it can connect to net for sometime but most of the time it is down.

So there will plenty of storage to place pictures and movies etc etc.Every room in the house will have a coax cable and CAT6. What I want is for fast file access to the server all computers in all rooms can use the CAT6 cable. That isn't the issue, because i will use network dives and mapping.e're planning on putting a TV in every room, so we want to perfect our media setup. But how can i make it, that the server will be able to stream different movies to different TV'S at the same time? The TV'S can get the video feed via coax? Or should I pull one more cable to all the rooms?So how can i have it that the media can be accessed at the same time? I want absolute max throughput possible to be achieved in all focal points. We're all in internet related industries. Between gaming and web-development latency and throughput are major factors for us.

The fastest line we can get is Comcast 50mbdown/5up (Wideband).
I am looking for the best way to achieve wireless and wired performance for our setup.
Our gaming computers may be in our bedroom, and we also may bring it down to the office every now and then for LAN sessions. Most wireless will be happening downstairs with our laptops, but since we may do LAN sessions then hard wired latency may be important there too.
I dont know if placing one D-link DGL 4500 on the top floor would be enough; which I currently own. url...As far as I'm aware wireless signals transfer best top down. Would this wireless router be enough on top floor and that's it?
I am planning to imlpement an ASA 5505 in my home network and I am wondering if this is a valid configuration. I am wondering if it is necessary to have 3 separate internal subnets or if these can be cabeled together in a more efficient fashion?
I plan to keep the 2 servers (game, e-mail) branched off the ASA directly in a DMZ configuration. The rest of the clients connect through the wireless/wired router.
Any unforseen problems with a setup like this (Modem -> Firewall -> Internal Router)? I have read sites that say I will have to accept an IP via DHCP for the ASA's external interface.
The above problem has just occurred. I am networking a W7 computer to an Windows XP SP3 via a Cat 5 cable connection. Checks of all cables and NIC interfaces show that there ok. I can ping each NIC card and get a response. The NIC cards are configured for obtaining automatic addresses. My connection to the Internet via a Motorola Surfboard modem is ok. I have checked the drivers and they are ok.

We are running ACE 20 modules in highly available active / standby (all active contexts on one module) mode. Currently they are on A2 (2.4) version. We are going to upgrade them to A2 (3.6a). The question is that how ling can we run them in two different SW levels? In otherwords can we have few days between upgrading both modules?

The 2 AAEs are connected separately to the router, and this allows us to get coverage in most part of the house (it's a large house with concrete and granite walls). I also have a HP Officejet 8500 'wireless printer' that is wired to the router as you can only print to the printer when it's in standby with a physical connection to the router (that's a different story). So my goal is to replace everything as the router is slowly dying and as a result of this, I want to be able to access the Internet wirelessly throughout the house, and be able to print from any where in the house without anything connected via cables. And as a bonus, I would like the Internet to be accessible 100 yards/metres down the garden (workshop is there). Basically, blanket coverage!

I'm new to managed networking. So I'm having trouble understanding how to set up my switches properly. I have a closed network with about 20 switches and 2 IDF's. No router, and no internet. I have a SLM 2024 in want to have 4 ports set up with a VLAN. I have another SLM2024 I want to be on the same VLAN some where else. Switch 1 uses port 24 GBIC as and up link port to one of the IDF's. Switch 2 uses ports 12 and 24 copper(LACP) to make a hop from another switch(ports 1 and 13 LACP)which inturn is connected to the same IDF on port 24 GBIC. How do I set up switch 1 ports 7,8,19,20? Also, how do I set up switch 2 ports 7,8,19,20? VLAN 11
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a very basic version of XP on my old laptop (Gateway MT3707).After hours of searching for the correct drivers, I found them, and installed them. After installing the correct drivers for wireless internet I was able to pull up the list and find my network on it.When double clicking on our wireless network it asks for a network key (also called WEP key or WPA key).Now we have a password for our network, but after an exhausting amount of tries that won't work. I not sure if that is what its looking for. In our apartment we run mac OSX, windows vista, etc., but usually the password for the network is satisfactory. I have never ran into this problem.I hate to be a noob, but I don't know where to go from here.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a pair of 6500's setup with VSS and there is currently only one link between then. However one end of the link is on Po10 and the other end is on Po25. If I move the Po25 over to Po10, will things break? It seems to be working fine now. I'm about to add a second link and I'm concerned about the current configuration. It makes more sense to me to have both ends of the same link on the same port-channel ID. I've seen documentation which states otherwise however.

I have been having an annoying issue for the past few weeks with my ASA setup. We are using the ASA as our Remote Access Gateway and originally had it setup in a Active/Standby failover configuration using 2 x 5520 ASA's.The original setup of the devices was that the 2 x ASA were setup in a failover configuration, with both of them connecting back to the internal network via a 6500 device. Because of using failover I created a VLAN on the 6500 and put the two ports that connect the ASA's into that VLAN. I then configured the VLAN interface to be the EIGRP interface for the neighbour relationship to the ASA's.
The problem I am seeing is that the EIGRP neighbour relationship between the Active ASA and the 6500 keeps flapping. It occurs abour 4-5 times every day at randmon intervals. Sometimes the neighbour relationship will stay up for 6-7 hours, other times it flaps every 1-2 hours. I initially thought it was due to the failover configuration so I removed one of the ASA's and removed all of the failover configuration, but the EIGRP neighbour flapping problem still exisits. [code] Since removing the failvoer configuration I am thinking it could be a physical cable problem?
We have 2 ASA 5510's setup in an active, standby failover configuration. When the primary fails over to standby, the 3rd party cert does not failover to the standby ASA. The users then receive the CERT missing, invalid message and have to select yes, no to move on. This does not occur when the primary is not in failover mode. It is my understanding that failover fails over certs but in our case it does not apper to be working correctly.

1. Switches Catalyst 3750-x (as core switch) and Catalyst 2960S (as access switch)
2. Both switches have VLAN 20 and VLAN 1 on their database and both are active. BTW, after I figure out how to properly configure interVLAN routing the native VLAN 1 will not be used anymore. This is just an initial test.
3. VLAN 20 SVI interface (IP 192.168.20.200) on 3750 is up and can be pinged from catalyst 2960.
4. VLAN 1 SVI interface (IP 192.168.170.200) on 3750 is up and also can be pinged from Catalyst 2960.
5. Catalyst 3670 can ping a client computer (IP 192.168.20.10) connected to Catalyst 2960.
6. IP route enabled on 3750
7. Trunking is enabled on etherchannel connecting both 3750 and 2960
8. Client computer in VLAN 20 (connected to 2960) can ping VLAN 20 SVI interface 192.168.20.200 on switch 3560.But, the client computer in VLAN 20 can not reach any computer in VLAN 1 and vice versa. Strangely, the switches which these computers are connected to can ping each other or any connected client copmuters without any problem as described above.
