View 7 Replies View RelatedWell I went to command prompt and typed command ipconfig /all and saw the ip address my system was configured to. Dunno why, but I manually set that ip address in my IPv4 internet settings and got access in my hostel. Now suddenly the access is gone. What should I say, the ip address that I set my laptop to has been shut down ? It doesnt work any more? How do I get another IP address like that which gives me no restricted browsing? What does the admin do in the laptop that suddenly it gets unrestricted browsing privileges?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have one dedicated IP issued to my home, along with another dynamic one if I need it(but I don't use it). I have a webserver, mail server, and name server up and running on a single machine exposed to the internet with my static IP. I have a domain name registered to my IP address. My webserver and name server work great, but I am having difficulty with the mail server. In order to have mail work correctly, I have been told that I need to get reverse DNS setup for my domain (something I had neglected to do). My nameserver responds to reverse lookups correctly when issued locally, but it looks like queries from the internet never reach it (I think my ISP catches requests upstream). I contacted them and they put a PTR record in for my IP pointing to ns1.mydomain.com. This all works fine, but the thought occurred to me that if in my hosts file I put my MX record in as mail.mydomain.com., any mail clients that do a reverse lookup of my IP won't get mail.
View 6 Replies View RelatedTo put it simply, my parents live far enough in the middle of nowhere that they have no access to high speed internet. Of course, there are always wireless solutions, but the options around here are pathetic and comparable to dialup. They were content with this; I moved back in with them for the time being and am not.y solution has been to dump just shy of $1,000 into a point-to-point wireless bridge setup that claims to have a range of 5 miles non-line-of-sight. I have one antenna set up four miles away on top of a building that has high speed internet.Unfortunately, I was a stupid fool and set that end up without enabling security, thinking that it wasn't a big deal. Nobody in that town has a mind for anything but farming and drinking. That was my mistake. Some asshole set a password and forced me to do a factory reset on the access point and now I can find no IP address. It's like it only reset halfway to factory defaults or something
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn my router I can set rule that all traffic incoming to router's extAddr:8888, is forwarded to my intAddr:8888. But I also need reverse rule that packets originating from intAddr:8888 are translated to extAddr:8888. Can I do that? What technique can I search on google to find more information, because it is not port forwarding. I would calll it reverse port forwarding or static port address translation, but I do not find anything useful in internet searching these keywords.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up a WAP4410n Wireless access point and add to my home network. One problem I can't seem to get around. The IP adress range setup does not accept 1 (example 192.168.1.245) as a range setup for IP address. How do i get in communication with the unit when I can't view the setup due to the factory default set as 192.168.1.245? If it were 192.168.0.245 I could easily change my routers IP range to include it.

Another port is connected to a switch to which ethernet cables to three other rooms are connected. My problem is that when I connect my Bell PVR (9242) to the 'switched' ethernet cable, I'm apparently not able to get a dynamic ip address, which the Bell unit requires, and can't connect to the network.can I connect another router, in place of the switch, to deliver dynamic IP addresses to whatever I connect to the ports in the other rooms in my house?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am working with MS Windows 2008 R2 and a Belkin F5D8635-4v1 router.
I have already set up a dynamic IP address which points to my router at home. In my home network I have multiple PC's that I would like to access from the internet. I would like to achieve this without needing to change my port forwarding rules on my router each time...
My thoughts are that I use a single dynamic IP address pointed to my router. My router then forwards to a server with some sort of software that can then forward to the correct PC based on the host name.
So I have 3 domains set up all pointing to the router's IP address:
dest1.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
dest2.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
dest3.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
The router is not smart enough to redirect by host name, so it will just forward everything to 10.0.0.20 The server based at 10.0.0.20 must then have software to now redetermine the target based on the host name. The rules would be set up as follows:
dest1.domain.com -> 10.0.0.22
dest2.domain.com -> 10.0.0.24
dest3.domain.com -> 10.0.0.26
I would like to be able to browse the Internet from my home IP address while I am away from home (using a notebook)

I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc).The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:
- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface
Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range.That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.
- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.
- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.
Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.
Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)
Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).
it is possible to route netbios broadcasts between VLANs using a RV180W. Presently i have the network configured with two vlans (one for each building). The RV180 operates as a DHCP server and internet gateway for VLAN 1 and a linksys product operates as the DHCP server and internet gateway for VLAN 2.With the addition of a static route between, we can ping freely between the VLANs, transfer files, etc. However, members of VLAN 2 must be addressed by IP in windows explorer by members of VLAN 1 and vice versa. I understand this is because Netbios broadcasts are not routed between the two vlans, precluding addressing computers by name. While this is not a critical problem, it would be "nice" if i could configure the RV180 to route only Netbios between the two (still hold other broadcasts such as DHCP). I understand this ispossible on higher-end cisco products through the use of IP-Helper addresses, but I cannot find any information on doing such on the RV180.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed a Cisco 2106 with a single 1131 AP at home! I know, lucky eh, it was used in our office but I now have it only on a temporary basis and have it set up as a home lab. I am using a single SSID with WPA2 AES encryption with PSK using default values and no P2P blocking enabled.Initially the controller was running ver 5.2.78, the connection was very slow compared to the wired connection and I couldn't VPN over this link although I could over the wire?I thought I would upgrade to ver 7.0.98, which resulted in the VPN now working but still slow speeds.I tested all cables and connections and swapped out the cables with no difference along with checking the interfaces on both sides with no errors reported. I was also testing on both A & G radios with again no difference and erratic ping response times. I also noticed that Windows homegroup was now not working along with RDP using the netbios name (using the IP worked ok) and strangely I cannot telnet to the controller although it is enabled and enabled for wireless management (it says telnet not allowed on this port when trying to ssh!! a telnet connection just times out); I can connect via https with no problems . All these features work flawlessly going through the router, just not over the Cisco WLAN?I then downgraded and upgraded along with rebuilding the controller thinking it may be an issue with my AP or controller. This resulted in the connection speed to return to normal but still none of the other features mentioned are working as they should. I also removed all firewalls and acls from the end devices and the router with no effect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an SG300-28P. I have 2 VLANS/subnets that are successfully routing between them.Machines on both sides can ping each other just fine, but none of the usual Windows/NetBIOS browsing is possible. I've recently learned that NetBIOS is not usually forwarded between subnets. How would I enable NetBIOS packet forwarding between my subnets?
Reading the manual, it seems like enabling UDP Relay might be the answer but I've been unable to get it to work (same with DHCP relay).
Here's the layout: Cable modem in the basement. Several devices in which I'd prefer a wired connection in the basement. Upstairs on the 1st and 2nd floor of the house are many devices in which wifi is fine or preferred.Here's the problem: As you might guess, wifi is weak upstairs and certainly on the patio and 2nd floor. I have an access point upstairs that I've experimented with but it is flaky.
