I am doing a security course and I need to find out the IP addresses of the devices on my network in order to carry out a ping of death on one of my devices. I've done the ipconfig command but that doesn't give me the information I need.
View 5 RepliesI have a hobby network at home, the structure of which follows:*Modem * - active SPI firewall -- Then the E4200 distributes data via wifi to/between the following machines --*Server - providing services such as http, FTP, VPN, Mail, MySQL, OpenDirectory, Plex media server, etc.*Two other workstations that access their user details/settings from open directory on the server.Now the purpose of this network other than providing standard access to Internet services from within the LAN is to provide access to the services maintained on my server to users on my LAN when they leave it/go mobile.Now with my limited knowledge of networking I have been using port forwarding to direct service requests through the firewall, however I have found with the E4200 that I have a limited number of custom port fields to use (about 15) which is extremely limiting when I have as many potential services that my server can provide.I could move the Server to a DMZ but then dosen't that put all my other services that have no need to be exposed at unnecessary risk.Do I need to invest in a separate hardware firewall and put it after the modem and before the router?

Dunno why, but I manually set that ip address in my IPv4 internet settings and got access in my hostel. Now suddenly the access is gone. I'm looking to know if there is a way I can find its ip address by maybe with a crossover cable, or by bridging its connection to my computer and somehow seeing what ip it's requesting.
I have one dedicated IP issued to my home, along with another dynamic one if I need it(but I don't use it). I have a webserver, mail server, and name server up and running on a single machine exposed to the internet with my static IP. I have a domain name registered to my IP address. My webserver and name server work great, but I am having difficulty with the mail server. In order to have mail work correctly, I have been told that I need to get reverse DNS setup for my domain (something I had neglected to do). My nameserver responds to reverse lookups correctly when issued locally, but it looks like queries from the internet never reach it (I think my ISP catches requests upstream). I contacted them and they put a PTR record in for my IP pointing to ns1.mydomain.com. This all works fine, but the thought occurred to me that if in my hosts file I put my MX record in as mail.mydomain.com., any mail clients that do a reverse lookup of my IP won't get mail.

Of course, there are always wireless solutions, but the options around here are pathetic and comparable to dialup. They were content with this; I moved back in with them for the time being and am not.y solution has been to dump just shy of $1,000 into a point-to-point wireless bridge setup that claims to have a range of 5 miles non-line-of-sight. I have one antenna set up four miles away on top of a building that has high speed internet.Unfortunately, I was a stupid fool and set that end up without enabling security, thinking that it wasn't a big deal. Nobody in that town has a mind for anything but farming and drinking. That was my mistake. Some asshole set a password and forced me to do a factory reset on the access point and now I can find no IP address. It's like it only reset halfway to factory defaults or something

But I also need reverse rule that packets originating from intAddr:8888 are translated to extAddr:8888. Can I do that? What technique can I search on google to find more information, because it is not port forwarding. I would calll it reverse port forwarding or static port address translation, but I do not find anything useful in internet searching these keywords.

The IP adress range setup does not accept 1 (example 192.168.1.245) as a range setup for IP address. How do i get in communication with the unit when I can't view the setup due to the factory default set as 192.168.1.245? If it were 192.168.0.245 I could easily change my routers IP range to include it.

I have a high speed wireless DSL router from my ISP (Telus). I use one port off the router to connect directly to my desktop computer. Another port is connected to a switch to which ethernet cables to three other rooms are connected. My problem is that when I connect my Bell PVR (9242) to the 'switched' ethernet cable, I'm apparently not able to get a dynamic ip address, which the Bell unit requires, and can't connect to the network.can I connect another router, in place of the switch, to deliver dynamic IP addresses to whatever I connect to the ports in the other rooms in my house?

The two other computer at home (running full versions of Windows 7) work fine over this network.When I look at the Station list in the Router's interface the MAC address for the new laptop appears but it has no IP address. I have already set up a dynamic IP address which points to my router at home. In my home network I have multiple PC's that I would like to access from the internet. I would like to achieve this without needing to change my port forwarding rules on my router each time...
My thoughts are that I use a single dynamic IP address pointed to my router. My router then forwards to a server with some sort of software that can then forward to the correct PC based on the host name.
So I have 3 domains set up all pointing to the router's IP address:
dest1.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
dest2.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
dest3.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
The router is not smart enough to redirect by host name, so it will just forward everything to 10.0.0.20 The server based at 10.0.0.20 must then have software to now redetermine the target based on the host name. The rules would be set up as follows:
dest1.domain.com -> 10.0.0.22
dest2.domain.com -> 10.0.0.24
dest3.domain.com -> 10.0.0.26
I would like to be able to browse the Internet from my home IP address while I am away from home (using a notebook)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc).The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:
- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface
Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range.That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.
- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.
- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.
Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.
Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)
Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).
Want some input on what will be the best solution in this scenario.Basicly this is a small ISP network.In each area, behind the C3750s, there are som DSLAMs, access switches and wireless base stations.Some of the clients need L2 connections across the network, as they have several offices.The C3750s are all Cisco WS-C3750G-12S-E.The management networks must be isolated, but be able to reach each other.What do you think would be the best solution realising this network, based on the awailable hardware?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThree weeks ago I moved all the APs at one of our sites from WISMs (running 5.2.193) over to a pair of 5508s (running 7.0.220) and everything appeared to be fine through testing and implementation. We've got about 400 devices on this network and almost everything is working without issue, except for about 10 Honeywell Dolphin hand-held scanners that our distribution department uses. On occasion when the users go to use them, even when sitting 15 feet from an AP, the device will kick out an error that the "wireless network was not found - please move closer to an access point or return to cradle".
As much as I would love to say it's a device issue, they said the problem started the same day I moved the APs to the new controllers (they gave me the date they started experiencing the issue, I was able to link that back to the date I made the move). They worked without issue on the old controllers / code and, for the most part, both old and new controllers are configured similarly (except for enabling a few new feature that the new code supports like client-link and band-select). These are b/g clients and I did diable all .11b data rates when moving to the new controller. Also, this happens in multiple locations, not just in the receiving / distribution area.
Lastly, I'm at my wit's end on this. The issue is totally random and when they are having an issue I can't even see the device trying to connect (by debugging the client on the controller). One suggestion I've made is that we may need to upgrade the device firmware, but I'm not sure why it would work with the old controllers and not the new. I guess the worst case scenario is that I can move the couple APs they have in the receiving area back to the old controllers to see if the issue continues.
laptop not finding any wireless network Suddenly....and the hardware(dell wireless 1702 802.11b/g/n) not recognized suddenly it was working then start to lose signal sometimes then stopped ....i removed the driver software and re-install but nothing changed.

I searched every CD that came with the darn thing and I still cant find the driver I need...
