I have Linksys e3000 , I used the web interface to set up the storage. I also from the Administration option of the Storage inside Web Interface changed the netbios name or Device name to the one I like. Now the name does not resolve to the ip address. It used to when I had recently unpacked. I can still access my drive by IP address.

I did this once and because I wanted to change a few things I deleted the share and changed the users and usergroup that I've made.Now I can't created a share anymore, also tried another disk(flashdrive) nothing seems to work.The only thing I didn't do is reset to factory default, but that's the last thing I want to do.I use the E3000 router with firmware 1.0.04

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am very pleased with my purchase of the E3000 so far. However, one function seems to allude me. One of the main reasons for purchasing this router was because of its Media Server functionality. I wanted to be able to stream to my UPnP devices (ps3, xbox360, etc) without having to keep my power hog of a PC running. I have set up the HD using the Storage tab of the Advanced Router Settings, and created several Shares on the Media Server tab. The good news is that I am able to access the share on my PS3. The bad news is that I can't on my Xbox360s. As the Xbox360s has built in wireless N, I would really like to be able to stream to that system.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI updated to Firmware Version: 1.0.04. And now I can't logon to the router when my storage device is turned on. However, I can logon to the router when the device is off. If I turn the power on the storage device and try to navigate the router it says ".....Can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.1." Then I have to reboot the router to be able to log back on.

There is a button next to it that says "claim", which I press, but nothing happens.I don't have the option to create a shared folder, and I can't access the drive from my Mac.On a somewhat related note, I've enabled the media server and can find it on my PS3, but there is nothing in the root folders. How do I put stuff (movies, music,etc.) into these root folders?

I have an E3000 and I just cannot get my pogoplug NAS working with it. It shows up as it should on the local network, but cannot connect with the mothership for internet access when behind my router. I have tried stock firmware, DDWRT, and Tomato, all do not work. I have tried assigning it a static IP, DMZ, new cables, different ports, all do not work. It activates immediately with an old WRT54G in the same configuration, which is Cable modem-->Ooma VOIP-->E3000-->Pogoplug.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just setup my new E3000, upgrading from a WRT54G. The uPnP worked great on that router and my last three routers before that. Xbox never required I setup anything -- I can prove this simply by swapping routers and putting one of the old ones in place of the E3000.However, the E3000 (Firmware Version: 1.0.02) is not working with uPnP. Xbox connectivity test comes back and says that my NAT type is "Moderate". Most stuff works fine, but I'd like to get it all working. I worked with a Linksys tech who got NAT to "Open" by configuring triggered port forwarding. I am happy to have my issue resolved, but confused why uPnP didn't work? I mean it was easy for me to configure port forwarding, but for my less technical friends, should I simply not recommend this router because it can't do basic uPnP?

One day, my drive stopped responsing, and because I had a Security IP camera uploading pictures on it, I thought it was full. The partition was corrupted so I formated the drive. Since then, whatever disk I plug to the router, the "create share" window is not working properly.

I am moving abroad for an extended amount of time, though, so I would also like to connect to this USB drive using FTP. Using the new Cisco Connect Cloud interface, I have enabled FTP sharing for the USB storage device with port 21 and using standard UTF-8 encoding. Whenever I try to connect to the FTP server using my router login credentials, I get the following error message:"There was a problem connecting to the server xx.xxx.xxx.xx. The E4200 does not detect my hard drive, nor is there a bar saying "detecting".
My problem started when I could not create any new folders through finder. I had to store new files in the root folder. Every time I entered the admin password, I got a message saying I did not have sufficient permission to perform such a task. I then went on to create a new user within the admin group and continued getting the same message. Finally, I formatted the drive directly through my computer and reconnected. And now my HDD is not detected at all.
I have an iMac running OS X Lion. The HDD is question has been formatted to Mac OS extended (journaled).
I have an e4200v2 with latest firmware. I have changed the administrator password from "admin" to a password of my own.I have recently added a USB hard drive to the router, and it says that admin password to access the share drive is the same as the admin password as the router, but it is not. The password to acces the USB drive is "admin" and there is nowhere to change this password to something secure.

if you log on to 99.225.89.229:8080 it will ask you for user id and pass word to log into my router.
if you try to log on to 99.225.89.229:21 it wont even connect asking you for a user id and password.
my guess is the router is not allowing port 21 to be accessed, but I'm not sure.
I have TV set box connected to modem router supplied by ISP provider. To the same router I connected EA 4500 to which I wired connected Network Hard Disc at which I store music, photos and films, which I can not access via TV set box. If I connect Hard Disc direct to the modem router to which set box is connected, access works fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am uable to access my files on the USB Storage Device connected to WRT610. Its configured properly. I can see the drive on my network. When I double click it asks for password which I enter and it takes me to the shared folder. But when I click it it says Not Accessible....You donot have the persmission. FTP works fine.I have noticed that on the disk page in the Shared Folder Area when you click on the Summary, the box with Groups With Access is Empty. Whereas on the FTP area in the same summary it clearly mentions the admin group.I have tried every thing including factory reset, hard reset, using new group, new user name etc..The technician from Linsys even spent an hour on my computer and ultimately he gave up and gave me number to contact technical support.

I hit Create Share and it brings up the dialog box where I enter the display name. Share entire partition is checked already. I save settings and I see the box going to the form where you assign the Group roles, but then the box disappears and closes. All I see is the original Storage setting page with the Create Share button still there.I tried this on Win 7 using both IE8 and Chrome browsers.

Is the USB storage set up.One thing (very important) Linksys has failed to explain how to gain access to the USB storage once connected to the router. Once the USB storage drive it set up. Or at least I think it's set up. Nothing shows up on my network page. So how am I to get access to the drive?
