We purchased a new printer which is running on a network where one computer is running Windows 7 and the other Windows XP. The printer cable is connected to the Windows 7 computer. The print function works fine on the Windows 7 but doesn't work on Windows XP. Asking me for a "printer name" and I don't know what to put in that option. When I go to printers and faxes I click on each of the options under shared printers and it still asks for "printer name"?

I tried restarting my laptop, wireless adapter, and the printer, I also try restarting the spooler service but the attempt was not successful. Try unchecking SNMP and the printer is online but I can't print from it. So, I decided to uninstall the printer and reinstall it again. This is where another problem occurs. When I try reinstalling it, my laptop seems to be unable to find the printer (I have entered the IP address of my Printer but the printer still can't be found). View 3 Replies View RelatedTrying to print from a Dimension E521 using Dell AIO Center to a hard-wired networked 962 printer hosted on an Inspirion 530 using a LinkSys WRT54G V8 router. Cannot scan or fax from the Dimension via the network. During software install, the printer is not automatically detected on the network and it has to be manually assigned. Attempt to print test page via the network during software install results in a document in the print queue that hangs the printer with a print error. After the aborted test page, nothing works.
Using the VISTA Control Panel can successfully set up the printer and can print a test page to it. In this case, the printer install CAN see the printer on the network, so I don't think it is a network issue.
However, if the control panel is used to install the printer, the AIO center cannot find it at all and displays an error that software and drivers are not installed. Yes, Network and Sharing are all set up correctly and, no, the Firewall is not the problem as it is turned off on both machines.
Drivers are not the issue. I have deleted the drivers and reinstalled them so many times in the last week I can do it in my sleep.

is it possible to use the Print Server on the TL-WR1043ND without installing the "Printer Controller Utility"? I have a HP LaserJet 1022 (in compatiblity list) connected which is recognized by the TL-WR1043ND. I want to connect the printer manually to my Windows PC using standard tcp/ip port, but I can't get it working. I tried RAW with Port 9100 and LPR with lp1. What are the right settings??
I'm currently configuring a HP Laserjet P4515 printer. It has its own built in Jetdirect so, all that jazz is done.
I'm having issue when I telnet to port 9100. I type the typical Jetdirect commands: ? / MENU yet I receive no information back from any commands I type. Even configuration commands. Typically, all this gets me is a printed page (since 9100 is also the print port) with the commands I've attempted to type. Some garbled, some not.
