Computer Can't Find Printer Tcp / Ip
Jan 1, 2013
I'm trying to add a printer back to my laptop. I've had to do this several times because our internet drops a lot. This time for some reason I can't add the wireless printer back to my laptop. When I add the printer it finds it but then it can't establish the tcp/ip connection. My workstation at the house can print to the wireless printer with no problem.

I am running a computer with Windows 7 Service pack 1 64 bit OS and I'm trying to install a wireless Canon MX420 printer. My computer is connected to my router through an ethernet cord and I have managed to set up my printer's wifi just fine. It appears connected on the printer's screen and I have disabled all firewalls on my computer yet it still won't detect it.

We purchased a new printer which is running on a network where one computer is running Windows 7 and the other Windows XP. The printer cable is connected to the Windows 7 computer. The print function works fine on the Windows 7 but doesn't work on Windows XP. Asking me for a "printer name" and I don't know what to put in that option. When I go to printers and faxes I click on each of the options under shared printers and it still asks for "printer name"?

I can usually solve most problems given enough time but after 4x hours work I have admitted defeat.I need the Mac Address of my Wireless printer so I can set mac filters for our laptops and printer. The printer is an HP F4500 all in one wireless printer.I managed to find out how to print a configuration page but there is no ip or mac address on it.Tried Ipconfig /all on the laptop and it only lists the ip and Mac address of the netbook.Phoned HP twice. wasted half hour being transferred all over the place then told to check their tech website. Nothing on their website about obtaining mac address naturally

Desktop PC running Windows 7 connected to D-Link DIR-655 via cable.I then have a Laptop also running Windows 7 connected to router wireless. Finally, I have a Brother MFC-490CW printer connected to the network wireless as well.Checked out the router status page - it shows all three devices connected properly. My PC, however cannot find the printer to save its' life; I've tried auto-detecting, entering the IP address; none of this seems to work, the PC just REFUSES to find the printer. If I connect the Printer to the router with a cable - my PC finds it alright.I'll admit - wireless networking is not my forte - and so I'm not sure, but my Laptop is connected to my specific wireless network (by name) while my PC is just showing as connected to "Network"

I just picked up a new Windows 7 laptop for my home. My live in girlfriend has a Vista laptop and we both connect wirelessly to our linksys network. We also have a lexmark printer that is connected wireless as well. The Vista laptop has worked and prints fine with the lexmark. Now I have been trying to connect my new laptop to find the printer but when trying to add a new printer or even trying to add a new device windows 7 never finds the printer. I have installed the drivers from lexmark and have even enabled sharing on the printer properties from within the Vista laptop and still my win7 cannot find anything. What can i do to add this printer?

Today when I tried to add a network printer, list of browsed printers in network is shown as pc1/hplaser1, pc1/hplaser2, pc2/hplaser1, pc7/hplaser1 and so on. They are all network printers, not local printers. Then why it is not showing the printers alone, why they show the pcs in the network and the same printer is shown in different pcs as they are installed in all of them.

my home network is of 2 wired computers and one wireless computer (this one) whats strange is that even though i have internet access, I am unable to see any of the shared folders on the wired computers even though the wired computers can see each others shared folders and the shared folders on the wireless one.what im trying to do is connect to a printer, the wireless one preferably, but i can settle for the one thats directly connected to one of the wired computers if i could. i think this strange network blindness on my side might be part of the problem. this wireless one is a xp, the one with the direct printer is a vista, not sure on the last one, im thinking xp, but if xp doesnt have a 64 bit version, then i would guess 7.

I am using a Compaq laptop, and i have Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter attached to it.I used to be able to connect to a Printer Brother MFC-J430W via wireless and print from it.But recently, when I try to print from it, it says that the printer is offline. I tried restarting my laptop, wireless adapter, and the printer, I also try restarting the spooler service but the attempt was not successful. Try unchecking SNMP and the printer is online but I can't print from it. So, I decided to uninstall the printer and reinstall it again. This is where another problem occurs. When I try reinstalling it, my laptop seems to be unable to find the printer (I have entered the IP address of my Printer but the printer still can't be found). Oh, and by the way, other laptop seems to be able to print a document from that printer.

Trying to print from a Dimension E521 using Dell AIO Center to a hard-wired networked 962 printer hosted on an Inspirion 530 using a LinkSys WRT54G V8 router. Cannot scan or fax from the Dimension via the network. During software install, the printer is not automatically detected on the network and it has to be manually assigned. Attempt to print test page via the network during software install results in a document in the print queue that hangs the printer with a print error. After the aborted test page, nothing works.
Using the VISTA Control Panel can successfully set up the printer and can print a test page to it. In this case, the printer install CAN see the printer on the network, so I don't think it is a network issue.
However, if the control panel is used to install the printer, the AIO center cannot find it at all and displays an error that software and drivers are not installed. Yes, Network and Sharing are all set up correctly and, no, the Firewall is not the problem as it is turned off on both machines.
Drivers are not the issue. I have deleted the drivers and reinstalled them so many times in the last week I can do it in my sleep.

I have a HP office jet 40vi printer that for the past several years has been connected to an XP networked computer and it has been shared for printing with other computers in my classroom. This summer the computer was switched with another XP networked computer.I installed the printer using the disk to the new computer, but I am unable to get the computer shared. When I try to share it and list it in the directory I get the following pop-up: Printer settings could not be saved.Operation could not be completed.
