Wireless :: How To Change Connection Settings
Feb 10, 2011I am trying to set up a internet connection to my campus network. i followed there instructions to the T. The network requires me to change my proxy settings. But every time i change my proxy to connect to the to the network, it say that i am connected but i can seem to load any pages. it worked before but i just redid my computer an it doesn't work now. one of the steps in the list of instructions given to me by the university was to select "dial whenever a network connection is not available" but selecting this is restricted for sum reason what do i do ?

May 11, 2011I just bought a DIR 615 (firmware 4.0) which I am using as an access point linked to a Netopia router. The Netopia has QoS enabled and needs to keep it, however I was hoping to use the DIR615 without QoS. I am using a ReadyNas Duo as storage for music, videos etc.Now, here are my issues which I think are all linked.
1) I have a very slow connection wireless, between 1'500 and 2'000kbits/sec download. This was not the case with my very old Linksys router
2) When I try to rip a CD from iTunes to the NAS, it brings up error messages of lost connection and impossibility to rip in the middle of the songs. I did not have that problem with the Linksys router neither.
3) I would like to change the QoS parameters to see how it affects this connection issue, as well as change other Wifi parameters, but they show up as greyed out and I can't change them. (I feel that the DIR 615 might inherit some parameters from the main router, since it is used as an Access Point).

Nov 24, 2011I've had my WRT54GL for a few months now and have two computers that are wired and 3 that are wireless. I started having problems with conflicting IP's a couple days ago on one of my wired computers which was set for auto DHCP so I changed the settings and made it a static IP, this is when the problem started. I have Network Magic on all computers and even though it says I'm connected to the internet and the network, I am not able to get online. My other wired computer has been on Static IP for months and works fine.

Poor Connection Until Change MAC Address
Nov 29, 2011I have been having considerably slow internet compared to the other guys I live with and decided to investigate. I have run the speedtest.net on a good chunk of their computer and they all get around 40 mb/s while I am getting 2 mb/s. I have figured out that when I go in and change my MAC Address, I am able to get the same speed that they do for a short amount of time, but after a while(I haven't figured out a time interval) my speeds go back to the 2 mb/s. I can then go back in and change the address again and the same thing happens. I thought I might have a virus, but the different scan that I have tried running show nothing and when I do netstat from the command prompt, nothing abnormal shows up.

May 22, 2012We are connected to 2 different providers (PROV01 and PROV02) with eBGP full internet tables. PROV01 routes have higher local preference over PROV02.
We are having problems with our provider and would like your expertise. PROV01, higher preference has been having trouble with their router. The BGP remains up but the router stops forwarding traffic. as a resulta we lose connection to the internet but our traffic never goes to PROV02 since PROV01 BGP remains up announcing the 400K routes to us.
Is there a way to test internet connection though PROV01 and as the "internet is DOWN" automatically change traffic to PROV02? Can BGP parameters changes be triggered by IP SLA? Our router is an ASR1006 RP2.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 1721 / Change Remote Site Network Configuration With / Without Losing Connection?
Sep 19, 2012My company just assumed management of a remote entity. The network has several misconfigurations and I need to make some network modifications from my office w/o losing access or incurring lengthy outage to the clients. The network consists of 1721 router and three 2960 switches.
- I only have access to the router from the Internet. I telnet off the router to the 3 switches.
The site uses a single class C 192.168.1.0 / 24. The router is running RIPv2 even though this is the only network. The prior network person (contractor) set up separate native vlans on each switch and all the ports are defined as Native trunk and access are defined to the VLAN interface assigned to the switch. So of course the logs are flooded with Native VLAN mismatch, Each 2960 switch is a VTP server but has no VTP domain.

Sharing :: Change Network Settings So Internet Connection Appeared As Public Network
Jan 25, 2011I use my desktop for streaming media throughout the house. I found it was causing lag for gaming most likely because it was taking up all the bandwidth for the router. We had a 2nd router laying around as well as a 2nd wireless adapter so we set up a 2nd network that was not connected to the internet for strictly media streaming.I attempted to change the network settings so the internet connection appeared as a public network so that streaming of media was hopefully diverted to the non internet wireless adapter.I want a faster way of transferring large video files from my laptop to my desktop. I recently bought a crossover cable to do this through direct connection.Both use the same user name and password as well as run the same win 7 pro however the desktop is the 64 bit version. I set up both ipv4 with the same addresses.When it has worked I am only getting a connection speed of just over 10mb and once I connect the crossover cable between the computers it knocks out my internet connection on the wireless card.
