Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Wireless Non-existent After Config Change?
Aug 27, 2011
I was changing some settings on the router, disabled the WMM QoS, and I can no longer see either the 2.4 or 5GHz networks. I power cycled, tried resetting to defaults but the wireless seems to be dead. I can manage it wired, but that does me no good.
I posted before about my problem in forwarding certain ports in a LAN-to-WAN cascaded router setup, and I finally gave up looking for a solution, and went for a LAN-to-LAN. On the internet there is many articles to be found on how to accomplish the setup, but none of them is complete, and as such, I think I really screwed up someplace. My setup: ISP modem/router (192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0) DHCP enabled, and DHCP address range 3-100 NAT configured Static IP address for a Synology NAS connected to the E4200 SSID id_1
Then the E4200 Internet connection type: I set to Static IP IP 192.168.1.2 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 0.0.0.0 (to disable the WAN)
Then, the network setup: Router IP: 192.168.1.2 gave me the error that WAN and LAN IPs were identical. I played around quite some time but always got an “illegal value” error. Then finally I put the IP to 192.168.0.1 (IP I had in LAN-to-WAN) and this was accepted. And subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 The SSID I left unchanged from what it was, id_2 (also gives me the advantage that I know to which router I am connected)
I rebooted the E4200, and I was connected. But … I am unable to connect to the E4200 configuration page, and even Cisco Connect cannot establish the connection.
For some reason my E4200 keeps going back to Swedish (I'm in Sweden) even after I have manually set it to English and making sure to save the changes. What I'm talking about is the WEB interface reached by going to 192.168.1.1
Why does it do that and how can I make it stick to English without switching back to Swedish all the time by itself?
Is it possible to change the Guest Network Name on the E4200? And if so, is it possible to do so without having to do a complete reset of the router and without using the Cisco Connect software?
On a number of 6500 chassis it appears that linecard 3 did exist at somepoint, but was removed.Problem is that when issuing the 'show int desc' or 'show ip int brie' the ports for the still appear, and indeed same with 'show run' and 'show conf'.
I just bought a E4200, is there a way change the default text of the pop up message that is used when the client is requested to put in the password to access the guest SID for the e4200?
WRT120N router: After several hours on the phone with Technical support I got nowhere. Guy had me putting in "admin" in the user name then the PW. I kept getting the 401 authorization required message. After all that I reset my router and used the disk to setup again. After that I went again to the 192.168.1.1 and got the request for authorization, entered admin in the PW and it does nothing, just reloads the request and browser keeps connecting. I have WIN 7 HP, use Firefox 5.0 mostly, but tried on IE8 as well and it does the same thing. I am attempting to open a port.

how i can change WRT160Nv2 settings if i cannot find it with default 192.168.1.1;i'm using it as secondary router connected to FIOS actiontec primary, which has the 192.168.1.1; factory default reset linksys to that same IP, can't get it.cannot get internet without actiontec as its coax connected, and linksys doesn't have coax port.can'ty open configure page without internet connection, i believe.tried to use a neighbor's wireless but that's using 192.168.1.1 as well, can't log in to that.this started with firmware upgrade of linksys which left it invisible; didn't complete the upgrade, i don't think. but i've reset it and still nothing.
I recently (~month ago) switched to a new computer after my old one (which I had configured the router on previously with no problems) died.Since then, I have been unable to access my router's config page (entering in the ip address simply results in a blank page with no prompt for username/password). Switching browsers (I've tried Firefox 5 and IE 8) does not solve the problem, nor does disabling AdBlockPlus/NoScript on Firefox. Any way to access my router so I can begin forwarding ports again?
I'm having wrt610n and there is an issue, i can login to the config page via http, but using the same computer i'm not able to login there via https but the same time i can login via ipad and the other computer, using the https.i even tried to reset the router settings, but the result was the same, so what PC option can cause it?
I recently installed some wireless IP cameras and when attempting to re-install a camera I went into the DHCP Client table to verify which IP a camera was using to set it up, but I could not...and still cannot see any of my cameras in the table even though I can access three of them directly through the IE web browser. I initially power cycled both the E4200 router and Motorola cable modem, and then later just the wireless router...but I still do not see the devices connected. I currently have 2.0.37 firmware even though I was told by Cisco support that there was a later version available, just before being informed that I do not have support available and could purchase it. I attempted to locate a newer version, but the online upgrade portion of the Cisco Connect software searched the net and then states that I have the latest version available. I also opened a Firefox browser to see if maybe my browser was causing issues, but the same limited table appears without all entries available. I even opened the Cisco Connect software on another laptop with the same limited results. Other than a factory reset, get me E4200 dual band wireless router to show all attached devices through the DHCP Client table as it previously did approximately two weeks ago?
I have had an e4200 for about a month now and its been pretty good. But I have noticed that it completely locks up when I go to copy mass amounts of data through it. I have a NAS drive plugged into it and my laptop is on the 2.4 spectrum. I went to transfer 8gigs of data from laptop to NAS drive and the entire wireless portion of the router locks up. All my wireless clients drop and I have to unplug the router and plug it back in. Even the 5ghz clients drop as well. I have not tried hardwire, but the main reason I got this was for its throughput.
I own a E4200 v1 router and recently discovered that wired and wireless devices cannot talk to each other.Their IP address are acquired through DHCP and inside the same network, but cannot talk to each other by any means, such as ping or http connection.I tried switching wired device to wireless and this actually solve the problem. I've searched and seen thread talking about "AP isolation" settings in advanced wireless setting, but there's no such setting page in my router (running on v1.0.5 firmware). I've already disabled any filtering and firewall function on the router, but still no good.
I get about only 500 KB/s for accessing files (as a network drive), regardless of the size of the file (even full 4GB iso)If I watch a video via media server however I get around 3MB/s.My firmware is currently on 1.00 and I am not upgrading due to the notorious media server problem.
I have a E4200 router. The firmware version is 1.1.02. I am reluctant to upgrade; however, my iMAC is picking up the 5GHz broadcast setting, but the rest of my wireless devices only recognize my lower 2.4GHz setting. I have changed channels, my router address is changed because it conflicted with my Verizon DSL. I do not have FIOS. What can I do to fix this problem. I have an ipad, 2 iphones, 2 ipod touches, 2 laptops (PCs), an XBOX, and a PS3 that needs to connect to a higher broadcast. The connections are slow and at times get dropped.
On the E4200, can the wireless be turned off completely? I am no longer using any wireless devices and thought that if I can turn off or disable all wireless functionality it might be more secure and run cooler. Short of that...what settings can I use that would prevent any wireless device from gaining access?
I have a E4200 router and I was using it with a 1st generation MacBook Air for internet and also had my Samsung laser printer hooked up (USB) for wireless printing. It worked perfectly. Now I have upgraded to a new MacBook Air. The internet connection works fine, but printing won't work. Same printer. Same connections.
Do I need to refresh/reboot something? My new Mac has the printer driver. I get a message "printer if offline" "printer is not connected" -I feel like the router now does not recognize the new Mac's command to print. The older macbook air still works and prints wirelessly. The new one does not.
I have an HP laser printer (network printer) plugged into one of the ethernet ports of the E4200. I am able to print and communicate with the printer (via the built-in web interface) for the first few hours after the printer is powered on. After a day or so, however, (when the printer has gone into sleep/power-save mode) I can no longer print or attach to it - it is seen as being offline. The only way around this is to power the printer off and on again.I never had this problem with the E3000 or the (non-Cisco) router before that. I do not see any settings that would cause this to happen.
I have about 1400 devices in LMS for this one customer.
They have 1200+ IOS devices 200 + catos devices
My problem is we use 2 differnt change scripts in Config Editor for IOS and CATOS. I have a list of all of the IOS and CATOS devises in txt format.
Is there some magical way to just upload the txt files into Cisco works instead of searching for them during the Config Editor batch job creator? I find it takes hours to sort this batch job out
We have a new 4507R-E Switch which RME keeps reporting as "CONFIG_CHANGE" each evening. When you click to see the change, the only thing that has changes is the "ntp clock-period".
However, we have configured "ntp clock-period" as an exclude command in RME Config Managment.
I have a recurring issue with my e4200v1. My wired and wireless connections work fine, but I can't get to the administration website. I have https only set up, and after I get thru the 'certificate error' screen, I get an error that says web page is unavailable. Firfefox tells me that the connection was lost - error 101.I have tried wired and wireless, multiple computers, multiple browsers. I even turned the firewall off on one computer (or I think I did anyway). The only way I know how to fix it is by completely resetting then setting up the router all over again.
Upgraded from WRT610N to E4200. Since upgrading to latest firmware the wan just disappears both 5 and 2.5 Ghz bands. Happened with older firmware but not as often. Using it in briged mode. When this happens I can't even get to the management page with a lan connected pc. Have to do a hard reboot to get it to respond again. This is unacceptable for a router at this price point.
I want to know how to change the Router Password. I have two computers running XP connected to my WRT54G; one via cable and the other wirelessly. I'm using WEP security. The router setup defaulted to "admin" for the Router Password; I'd like to make it a stronger password.
A few months ago, I purchase, installed and configured a WRT 160N V3. And I couldn't be happier. I now would like to go back and change the passphrase that a user needs to enter when they connecting to my router. Currently it uses the default value. And I would like to make it a bit more friendly. I found a number of postings dealing with setting retrieving or changing the Admin password.
But I was not able to find anything on changing the “passphrase”. There probably are a number of postings on the subject, and I simply overlooked them.
How do I change my wireless router's (WRT54G) external IP address? I'm having IP conflicts with Yahoo and whenever I check the router's IP, it's always the same, despite the fact that my cable Internet provider uses DHCP to hand out IPs.
