View 1 RepliesI have multiple customers with either 877 / 1801 routers with dsl issues, we keep dropping sync , get slow speeds etc,
I have already updated to firmware 4.018, in some cases it has resolved the issue in others it has not, BT say their lines are ok, but still i keep getting issues.
I understand from the Cisco documentation that a service-policy applied to an interface on an ASA 5500 series firewall, will override the default global service-policy. However, I am not clear on whether it will override the entire global service-policy, or only the parts where they overlap. In other words, would the resulting service-policy on the interface in question be just what was applied in the service-policy on the interface, completely replacing the global service-policy? Or, would it be a combination of the global and interface service-policies, with the interface one taking precedence where they overlap?
if I wanted an interface to have the same service-policy as the global service-policy plus on other item, can I just add the one item in a service-policy that I apply to the interface, or do I have to replicate all the items from the global policy, plus the one additional item, and apply that to the interface.
I would like to know if AIM-VPN/EPII-PLUS (at the moment installed in 2821 ISR) is compatible with 1841 modular router?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to use a WAG160N as a straight forward router (wired & wireless) and to "switch off" the ADSL connection? I have a cable modem and planned to connect the modem to WAG160N by an ethernet cable and then assumed that it would connect to the rest of my network and use the modem as the route to the internet. But I cannot work out how to configure it to get this internet connection.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased an old cisco 831 for practical studies for a cisco certification. I purchased the console cable (serial/rj45) and a usb->serial converter cable. However when I open my terminal application (tera term) After I select the right com port (3) and make sure the connection settings are right. It will just sit idle and not show any data from the device. Was I sold a faulty device? It lights up and has three lights on.
Everytime I look at a manual or cisco video I am given the impression the terminal application will just automatically connect. But whenever I try I get nothing.
I have a Pix 501 running 6.3 code sitting behind a cable modem. I use ip address outside dhcp setroute because I don't have a dedicated IP from my cable provider.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using the WAG-120 N as an AP and switch for 3 laptops and 2 desktops. Our department is assigned only one Static IP from our server, so only one pc can connect to the server and the internet. I use the first lan port of the Wag-120N as a WAN port and i assign the Static IP address there, along with the subnet, default gateway and DNS addresses. The connected clients are assigned then an ip address from the router's DHCP (192.168.1.10x), but cannot connect to the internet. How can i configure the router to allow the clients to connect?

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. View 2 Replies View RelatedOur family has about three computers that use a wireless network that we all share. We have an old Gateway, a WCG200, that is bridged to an E2000, which was set-up ever since we required better security when someone used our connection to illegally obtain movies. We got a letter which warned us of any future violations that could cause legal action, so we looked into our wireless connection to better secure it from any other individuals outside of our household. The WCG200 is connected to the outlet in the wall via cable, and then connects from the Ethernet to the E2000. The E2000 has a stronger security setup than the WCG200, which is the advice we received from our ISP and would allow us to keep the Gateway. It provides a strong signal, but from time to time, we suffer latency or slow loading through all of our online devices, even though our connection speed displays a solid 72.0 Mbps. I've tried the Event Viewer to see any problems, and I have noticed some small things:
- WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.Wirel?
- WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped. Module Path: C:WindowsSystem32cmihvsrv64.dll
- The server {E10F6C3A-F1AE-4ADC-AA9D-2FE65525666E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
- Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet: The network link is down. Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected. [This last one is strange, since I use the Wireless Network Connection with a DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card, while the Broadcom adapter is under the Local Area Connection and displayed as not connected.]
Other than that, I'm not quite sure what the recurring problem comes from. Our WCG200 has a firewall enabled and our E2000 has an SPI firewall enabled. The security mode of the E2000 is a WPA2 setup. We have disabled the wireless network of our WCG200 in order to make use of the E2000.
I have a WAG160N wireless gateway . Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't get a new IP from my ISP when my Cable modem router(EPC3925) is set to router mode, i have tried factory restore, unplugged etc..but still no luck. It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?
