View 2 Repliesusing virus scanner over the network and this is related to my workplace. a pc with win xp can share all drives (including c:) over the network with another pc with win xp as well. let's say pc1 and pc2 (both with win xp). i can scan pc2 from pc1 once i hv shared all the drives. but for win vista n 7, i found out that it is not possible to share c:...yes, there are some ways to share it but the entire c: cannot be shared. n i also know that c: cannot be shared entirely due to security purposes. but can i bypass this only for virus scanning purpose? i know many will juz ask me to install the anti virus on the infected pc, but if possible i want to scan it over the network. if i hv to scan 20 PCs at the same time i find it easier to do it from a single pc than to install the anti-virus at every single pc.

So i am planning to implement a router in between those network and as it implement default routing so we can share all the resources. make both the network secure from virus as one of the network should be worm free. What i personally think that implementing a router will reduce worm replication.

I recently got a new computer from work, and it won't connect to my home network. I restored it to factory condition, and reinstalled the drivers for the wireless adapter card, but it won't identify my home network. The network adapter is a D-Link WDA 1320 and I'm trying to connect it to my home network which is AT&T Uverse, and the router is a 2wire 3800hgv-b. Hopefully that is enough information for at least an educated guess, I'm not so hot when it comes to home networking matters. This doesn't happen on any other computer.

I was able to connect one laptop (running Windows 7), with no hassle, to the internet just fine, however, I've tried connected another laptop (running Windows Vista) and can connect to my router but cannot connect to the internet and it's telling me it cannot identify the network =/ I also can't connect to the internet if I use my ethernet cable. I phoned up tech support also and they recommended I update my drivers, but Windows is telling me I have the most up to date driver for my network adapter.

Now, after I bought a new router (TBLink) my laptop cannot access internet through this router wirless netowrk, and cannot even make ping command to the router address.I tried many things to work around this problem: reinstall the driver of Wireless adapter, change the connection setting on both router and computer, cleaning ARP Cash ...etc.
1) the router works fine for other wireless devices like my HTC widows mobile phone and other laptop running Windows 7.
2) When I assign a static IP for my laptop it can connect to the network but still could not make the ping command to the router or reach any network resources.
3) I have Bitdefender Internet Security running and up to date.

I can get online using an ethernet connection to the router, but it can't identify the network and the wireless connection gives me just Local Only. I have another laptop that can connect to the router, and the Toshiba can connect to other networks. For whatever reason, the issue only appears when this laptop attempts to connect to this router. I've looked for suggested fixes, but none of the following have worked: Disabling firewall Deleting network adapters and having windows install them again Confirming that dynamic IP address is assigned Confirming that DCHP is enabled Running KB928233 I've tried every suggested fix I could find and nothing has worked. I have a Clear Home modem connecting to a Toshiba Satellite A215 with a Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter and Realtek RTL8101E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC.

Mid-day Thursday one of the laptops in my office suddenly was unable to identify the wireless network.
I have had this problem in the past with the other Dell laptop. Both are Windows 7. Tried uninstalling the adapter 4 times now. Changed SSIDs on my network. Added a SSID. Nothing works.
I am able to identify and get online if I put the IP address and DNS server in. Nothing I do lets it use DHCP.

I recently got my laptop fixed after it being out of commission for about a year (it turns out there was just too much dust collecting in it) and when I got home and tried to connect to my wifi network, I didn't have internet access. I received a message that said I had sucessfully connected to my network but it was only a local connection - no internet. It also shows up as "Unidentified Network." This is peculiar to me because my boyfriend's laptop is able to connect to the internet wirelessly just fine, and I am currently using the wifi on my iPhone. I ran the ipconfig and several ping tests in cmd and used a wifi inspector.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've used a newly purchased laptop, Acer Aspire 5733Z-4614 to connect to wireless networks before, including the network I'm currently on (/w another laptop), however, recently it has been unable to go through to the internet, but does successfully connect to the network. The encryption seems to be OK, since both laptops are using the same WPA2-Personal AES, and this (currently connected) laptop does just fine. I've read through a few other articles on this site but haven't been able to pinpoint the problem. To my knowledge I have not changed any settings since it has worked correctly.

I'm having trouble connecting my desktop to my home network. It was working fine last night, got home from work and voila, can't connect to my router anymore. My setup is cable modem, router, desktop via ethernet to the router, laptop. The laptop, which I am using right now connects just fine wirelessly to the router. Nothing has been changed to the desktop, no software installs, no hardware installs, etc.. No malware / viruses were found either. I'm using windows vista sp2 x32.- Power cycling - Firmware updates - Network adapter driver updates - DHCP working fine on router - No MAC address filtering - Also tried static addressing - Restoring factory defaults on router - Desktop restore to last night's restore point ( when it was working ) - All kinds of diagnostics - Ethernet cable testing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy laptop normally always works on the wireless network, but every now and then its randomly stopped working and said "identifying network" followed by "could not identify network, unidentified network." When i would troubleshoot it would say stuff about the default gateway and not a valid ip address. THis was fine because it would always just start working on its own in a day or so. However these arnt coming up when i do the troubleshoot this time, and its been over a week and no improvement.Im obviously writing this from the desktop. and the stats below are the desktop stats.

I'm having is I used to have a virus on my computer, until running a number of scanners to get it off. I'm pretty sure it's clean at this point, but now I've ran into the problem of not getting any internet from my ethernet cord. I've tried plugging in another and it gave me the same problem. I've tried running WinSock hoping it was just a registry problem I could fix, but that didn't seem to work. I also tried running "ipconfig /all" in my command prompt and got this error: [code] I'm running Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2.I'm at the point where I'm considering just reinstalling Windows, but I figured I might as well ask someone who knows better than I do of a better alternative.
