Computer Won't Identify Any Network
Aug 26, 2012
I recently got a new computer from work, and it won't connect to my home network. I restored it to factory condition, and reinstalled the drivers for the wireless adapter card, but it won't identify my home network. The network adapter is a D-Link WDA 1320 and I'm trying to connect it to my home network which is AT&T Uverse, and the router is a 2wire 3800hgv-b. Hopefully that is enough information for at least an educated guess, I'm not so hot when it comes to home networking matters. This doesn't happen on any other computer.

I recently got my laptop fixed after it being out of commission for about a year (it turns out there was just too much dust collecting in it) and when I got home and tried to connect to my wifi network, I didn't have internet access. I received a message that said I had sucessfully connected to my network but it was only a local connection - no internet. It also shows up as "Unidentified Network." This is peculiar to me because my boyfriend's laptop is able to connect to the internet wirelessly just fine, and I am currently using the wifi on my iPhone. I ran the ipconfig and several ping tests in cmd and used a wifi inspector.

I'm using a coaxial networking system and would like to electronically identify each section of coax in my network with a mac id for tracking purposes. Is there any way to do this without taking much space? Is there a microchip that I can install, preferably something that can withstand extreme environments?

I've recently moved house and decided to go with Virgin as my ISP. I was able to connect one laptop (running Windows 7), with no hassle, to the internet just fine, however, I've tried connected another laptop (running Windows Vista) and can connect to my router but cannot connect to the internet and it's telling me it cannot identify the network =/ I also can't connect to the internet if I use my ethernet cable. I phoned up tech support also and they recommended I update my drivers, but Windows is telling me I have the most up to date driver for my network adapter.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop that I can't get to identify my wireless network. I can get online using an ethernet connection to the router, but it can't identify the network and the wireless connection gives me just Local Only. I have another laptop that can connect to the router, and the Toshiba can connect to other networks. For whatever reason, the issue only appears when this laptop attempts to connect to this router. I've looked for suggested fixes, but none of the following have worked: Disabling firewall Deleting network adapters and having windows install them again Confirming that dynamic IP address is assigned Confirming that DCHP is enabled Running KB928233 I've tried every suggested fix I could find and nothing has worked. I have a Clear Home modem connecting to a Toshiba Satellite A215 with a Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter and Realtek RTL8101E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC.

Mid-day Thursday one of the laptops in my office suddenly was unable to identify the wireless network.
I have had this problem in the past with the other Dell laptop. Both are Windows 7. Tried uninstalling the adapter 4 times now. Changed SSIDs on my network. Added a SSID. Nothing works.
I am able to identify and get online if I put the IP address and DNS server in. Nothing I do lets it use DHCP.

I've used a newly purchased laptop, Acer Aspire 5733Z-4614 to connect to wireless networks before, including the network I'm currently on (/w another laptop), however, recently it has been unable to go through to the internet, but does successfully connect to the network. The encryption seems to be OK, since both laptops are using the same WPA2-Personal AES, and this (currently connected) laptop does just fine. I've read through a few other articles on this site but haven't been able to pinpoint the problem. To my knowledge I have not changed any settings since it has worked correctly.

I'm having trouble connecting my desktop to my home network. It was working fine last night, got home from work and voila, can't connect to my router anymore. My setup is cable modem, router, desktop via ethernet to the router, laptop. The laptop, which I am using right now connects just fine wirelessly to the router. Nothing has been changed to the desktop, no software installs, no hardware installs, etc.. No malware / viruses were found either. I'm using windows vista sp2 x32.- Power cycling - Firmware updates - Network adapter driver updates - DHCP working fine on router - No MAC address filtering - Also tried static addressing - Restoring factory defaults on router - Desktop restore to last night's restore point ( when it was working ) - All kinds of diagnostics - Ethernet cable testing.

My laptop normally always works on the wireless network, but every now and then its randomly stopped working and said "identifying network" followed by "could not identify network, unidentified network." When i would troubleshoot it would say stuff about the default gateway and not a valid ip address. THis was fine because it would always just start working on its own in a day or so. However these arnt coming up when i do the troubleshoot this time, and its been over a week and no improvement.Im obviously writing this from the desktop. and the stats below are the desktop stats.

I have purchased a new home where cat5e was run from several locations throughout the house to the basement. Unfortunately, the runs were not marked. I know you can short one end of each cable and measure (voltage resistance?) at the other end in the basement to identify it. I need the process and equipment required so I can wire my home. The cables are not terminated.

I'm a little confused about doing a translation using static identitiy NAT.I have a prorietary router that I would like to move behind my firewall (ASA 8.2x). Right now it runs in parallel with my router from a DMZ switch. I have change ISPs and the location the connection comes into my building so this confiugration is less than desirable. The vendor requires a static public address. So I am hoping/assuming a regular NAT statement of:
static (Inside,Outside) 72.12.206.211 192.168.1.xx netmask 255.255.255.255 .will work since the routers inside interface connectes to my inside LAN network anyway.
However, if they insist on having a Non-Nat'ed Public IP how do you do that? I have researched Static Identity NAT that shows the following: 72.12. 206. 211 (outside) FW (inside) 72.12.206.211
and they show a static statement of static (Outside,Inside) 72.12.206.211 72.12.206.211 netmask 255.255.255.255.How do you set up the nat statements for this configuration? Do you assigne the "external" IP address to the router even though it is behind the firewall (which is what I am asuming).

Just bought a Sony Bravia KDL-46EX723 today and i am currently trying to connect it to my BT home hub via a "wired set up". BT home hub does not seem to be detecting the TV at all, when i try to do an auto set up it searches for a while and then comes back with, cable connection:failed, local access:failed, internet access:failed.I have went on to my network page to see if it was connecting to anything else and it is finding my external hardrive no problem via the Ethernet cable.I have tried looking at my computer IP details and adding them manually to the TV, but no joy, just comes back with the same errors.

I am migrating my home network from a desktop centric environment to a mobile centric and taking mydesktop off line in the near future and instead relying on my tablet and laptop computers. I have two external hard drives that are currently connected to the desktop and a printer on the desktop. I believe that I need a NAS adapter and a print sever to connect the drives and the printer to the network rather than to the desktop compuer, which is going away. How then do I identify the drves and the printer when they are directly connected to the network? Is that something I do when I install the NAS adapter and print server?

Have win7 system, cisco WIRED 1720 router, ~1.5mb frame relay via C&WPanama, nortons antivirus installed. IP config dump is at the bottom, but in this event, I don't think my problem is local. An important work-related chat quit working today, and I have narrowed down the issue to not being able to connect to the provider website from my current location. (I can connect via US proxy, but cannot run the java applet via the proxy, it seems it is still trying to go from here to there).
The site I am trying to reach is host7.parachat.com, IP 64.13.158.24
I can load this page (just a landing page comment) as well as their main pages via us proxy, but time out trying to load directly. Fiddler returns a 502 error, socket connection failed.
have tested on 3 machines (all on same router), then on a laptop which hadn't been booted or updated in over a year (also on same router). Trying to find a free wireless network to test with the laptop, but that hasn't been found yet.

I've got an application running on a Windows 2008 server that I have verified as live on port 8085 at localhost. I've also verified on the server itself that port 8085(and in fact, all ports) are open right now. Despite this, I have no connection to this port on the server. Let me back up a bit an explain the architecture I'm working with.windows_server >> Switch >> Firewall >> Firewall >> InternetEverything but my server is managed by my hosting company who is insistent that this is a server issue. Is there a way to find out at what point my connection to port 8085 is failing? I feel like it's stopping at one of the Firewalls but need proof of this theory to get something done about it
