I have been struggling with setting up a WDS wireless network using 5 AP's for my office.im using Dlink DAP1353 AP's and they support WDS but its a mission. The LAN infrastructure is there already but do i connect all devices to the LAN or just one?Do i use the DHCP server or do i let one access point handle that? i keep getting signal conflicts and a lot of don time.
View 7 Repliesi had an extra network under my wireless networks that was just called "network" which was not connected to anything, but since i had this, on the bottom right of my screen where it normally showed the bars for the wireless connection, it had the bars grey with a red X on them, but my connection worked fine still.I am using windows 7 64x bit. I always use a wireless connection on my laptop.

The WDTV can act as a media player for both the Windows 7 PC and Samsung Galaxy S3.The TV can act as a media player for the Windows 8 PC.If I connect the Windows 7 PC via Ethernet, then the TV sees it and can act as a media player for it and the WDTV no longer can.The TV can't act as a media player for the Samsung Galaxy S3 nor can they see each other to use the Galaxy S3 as a wireless remote (Viera remote android app) .Why can my wireless devices talk to each other and my wired devices talk to each other, but the wireless devices can't talk to the wired devices?
I have an acer aspire 5552 laptop that wont connect to the internet. When I tried troubleshooting I get the message "network cable not properly plugged in or may be broken". When I go through the control panel/system devices/network adapter the only thing that shows is pdanet. Right now the only way I can connect is through my cell phone using pdanet. How can I get my network adapters to show back up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a bit of an unusual networking situation here in my home and need proper configuration, so I stop losing my web connection on a daily basis.The reason I'm forced to have the 2nd router is that my wife telecommutes and the 1st (primary router) is provided by her company. For whatever reasons, her company will not allow the wireless radio in their router to be turned ON - which forces me to add the 2nd wireless router for our 3 computers that require wireless access.
1 - Since the primary router has DHCP enabled, I am assuming that I should Disable DHCP on my wireless router. Am I correct?
2 - What other settings on the wireless router do I need to pay particular attention to in this situation?
months ago, i installed a USB card so that my dvd burner could run at 2.0 or 3.0. it has worked fine. every now and then the card becomes unlodged from inside the computer, and i have to push it back into the slot.Tonight, while the computer was on, i was putting it back in, and it popped all the way out, my computer shut down and when i restarted it, i got the error message "windows did not find properly installed network adapter/ if you have network adapter update/re-install drivers"Only problem i have is when i go to device manager, i see NO network adapter?

We have several hubs (actually it is a cage with a patch panel and a cabinet with several switches containing over 200 ports) in this facility. The roof is supported by columns and the columns are number 1-35 from south to north and A-W from east to west. So the hubs are easily idientiyable by the column number that they are close to, but this is where the standard ends. Some people use the patch panel and port of the patch panel, some people use the server stack number and the port. What is the proper way to label these. Linking a website demonstrating this standard s I can print it off and share with others would be great.

Now Win 7 64 Device Manager is empty- no network adapter found - I get the notice that "there are no properly installed network adapters". I use the on-board network adapter on the mobo, no plug in network card, hard wired to DSL -- like I said, it worked fine for a few days now it's GONE after reformat.

I've found the right one and it still want install. Says it's the wrong one but i'm pretty sure it's the right one. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the WUSB600N wireless adapter, and I'm using it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I'm using the latest driver available, 3.0.10.0. When Windows first starts, the adapter is not working properly and fails to connect to any networks, no matter how long I wait. If I unplug it and plug it back in after Windows is already running, I do not have this issue. This also does not occur when "restarting" the machine; only when turning the machine off and then back on.

But starting a couple days ago, the WiFi would not connect properly. I have to use the troubleshoot feature a couple times on my computer for it to work. My other laptops and other devices have no problems connecting to my network.

It remained orange(which is its off state) and so I went to the device manager and the wifi adapter was shown there but with an exclamation mark. Showing the error "the device cannot be started(code 10)". So I uninstalled and rebooted, only to get the same error when it got reinstalled.
View 19 Replies View RelatedFor awhile now I've been having an issue with my laptop connecting to the Internet. What happens is that when I power up my laptop and login, it doesn't connect to the Internet immediately. I have it set to automatically connect to the Internet. My wireless connection does appear when I click on the lower right icon that shows the wireless connection list of wireless networks near you.The only way that it will connect properly to the Internet is when I unplug my wireless router for 15 to 30 seconds and then plug the power back in to go through the process. Once I check the wireless icon, it finally does connect to the Internet. I hate having to keep on doing this because usually I have to go down steps in order to get to the router. Yet, when I connect to the Internet with my other laptop, it connects immediately to the Internet without having to do anything with the router. It puzzles me to why this is happening.

I can log in my facebook account, check notifications, but that's it. Images won't load, the page won't render properly, can't check messages or use games or apps. Another thing worth nothing is that the page loads extremely slowly. Most other websites work normally. This has been going on for 3 days now.
I've done lots of troubleshooting already. I normally use Google Chrome so I tried IE and Mozilla but the page looks the same. The default font (Times New Roman) and white background are the symptoms of something (what?). I've only got a wireless connection and I'm suspecting there could be a problem there because my wife has the same problem on her laptop. We share the wifi connection.We've tried a lot of things: clear browsing data (cache, cookies, etc.) flush dns, restart computers, browsers, update anti-virus software, but no success, so far.

So something must've happened around 3 days ago when everything still worked fine. One thing I haven't investigated is this wifi device: Huawei E585. I have no idea how to do any troubleshooting with it. one more thing I tried: proxy servers. I thought our ISP might have changed something somewhere (although all our friends have no problems) so I tried to log in through a few different proxy servers. The login page looked normal so I logged in. The page kept loading forever but it never showed any content. I didn't even get to see that Times New Roman font. But then again, it couldn't be an issue with my facebook account because I can use it normally on my cell phone. Well, as normally as you can use it on a cell phone.
I recently bought an asusg73jw xa1 from amazon and at first it worked just fine. But around a month later, when i started it up. It couldn't connect my home's wireless router or if it did, it would have no internet access. I'm pretty sure this problem isn't with my router because all the other laptops in my house can connect perfectly to my router at the same time. After around a week and i tried to connect again, the wireless started working again like nothing ever happened. This only lasted for around 3 days until my laptop once again could not connect to my router. Now the only way i can use the internet is if i connect my laptop to my router with a wire.

Sometimes it works fine but most of the time I get a really poor connection or it will say connected but no network access. Every other device has no issues whatsoever, I can even sit with my laptop behind my pc and have a decent connection. View 1 Replies View RelatedThe electric went off in my house about an hour ago, causing my computer to turn off as a result. Ever since, the internet on my PC has been acting up.
My internet was working perfectly before the power cut both on my laptop (my mum was using it at the time) and PC, however, while I've got no problems with the internet on the laptop, my PC keeps losing the connection to a ridiculous degree. It'll drop the connection for over a minute at a time, come back on literally long enough for me to refresh/load 1 webpage (~5 seconds), then go back off again for another minute or two.
All the lights on the router are on and I've even cross-referenced (lacking a better term...) the internet connection between my lap top and desk top and my laptop will work fine when my PC is telling me there's no connection and nothing will load on it. It seems to me that something has happened to my desktop when the power went out but I have no idea where to begin to even try to find out what's wrong.
I've tried turning off the router by both the wall and the little button on the back of it, and I've restarted my PC twice as well and still the internet doesn't work properly. My laptop picked up the connection as soon as the router came back on with no problem but my desktop struggled to find the connection and only picked it up after turning the router off twice aand restarting the computer twice as well and as I said, when it finally did find the connection it just keeps dropping it.
I have a Netgear CVD31T modem delivered by my internet provider. I can't change any settings on the modem. My connection speed is 30 gb up and 5 GB down.Until now I used a Linksys WRT54GV ver. 2 router to share my connection between my computers and NAS server and it worked ok. In speed tests I normally get approx 25 - 28 GB speed. To optain more speed on my LAN I want to buy a GB router. And here started my problems. First I tried a D-link DIR655, then a Netgear WNDR3700 and latest a Linksys E3000. I all 3 occations my WAN speed droped drasticaly down to between 3 - 5 GB speed, at under a ping test I have a loss of between 10 - 30 % and time on approx 50 ms.If I connect my PC directly to the modem or re-connect my old router it works perfect. I have tried to replace cables etc. etc.

I cannot even access my router settings by typing in my ip address, instead i get a message saying the page cannot be found. also i was disconnected from xbox live with the internet to xbox live part not working. I bought a TP-Link TL-WR841N which i have managed to setup up properly, i am able to connect to the wireless and get internet access. However the minute i walk out of the room or a few meters away i am disconnected and i can't re-connect, i get the "windows cannot connect to TP-LINK" message. The signal strength in on excellent and i know it works because when i stand near it, it works perfect.I phoned TP-LINK technical support who were pretty useless and couldn't fix the problem.

1. the DAP-1522 will not connect to the 5GHz network of the DIR-815. Although, this doesn't surprise me as none of my 5GHz-capable devices see it, other than intermittently and at low signal. It is most likely an issue with the 815's 5GHz radio/network.
2. OTOH, the 1522 does appear to connect to the 815's 2.4GHz network just fine. However, there is no Internet access for any of the devices connected to the 1522's ports.
I know the 1522 can work correctly on 2.4GHz, as it previously did fine with my prior 2Wire router from AT&T. (I've just switched to Comcast, using the DIR-815 connected to their SMC modem.)
Also, I know the router and modem work fine (at least with 2.4GHz), as all of my wireless devices connect easily and with screaming bandwidth to the router and Internet.
So I have a DIR-825, I got from a family member as they didn't need it anymore. (Don't know if its under any warranty at all) I have a few different problems with it:
1. It doesn't install correctly. I insert the disc, the "Checking adapter enabled" finishes quickly and easy. Then the "Checking network status..." goes for about 30 seconds - 1 minutes and then I get the "Your new router does not appear to be connected properly." It gives the Follow these steps message of checking connections/resetting/etc, which I have done multiple times without success.
2. Despite the failed install, I DO get an internet connection. It starts to get weird though. I have 3 different connections currently connected to it with the following properties:
Modem>Computer (Wired) - 16 MB/Second
Modem>Router>Computer (Wired) - 3 MB/Second
Modem>Router>Laptop (Wireless) - <1 MB/Second
Modem>Router>iPhone (Wireless) - 13 MB/Second
I've tried looking through the options on my router but nothing looks like it will work .
I can't get my VOIP ATA (linksys SPA-2102) to work properly with the shiny new DIR-835. I updated the firmware to 1.02 and messed around with various settings but it just won't work. Well, I can get registered and everything looks ok but, when I receive a call, the person at the other end can't hear me. I can hear them fine, but they can't hear me. I don't have any problem when I call someone. Still, it is frustrating. The problem persist even though I put the ATA in the DMZ.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Dlink DCS-942Ls had been updated to the latest firmware both 1.12.1608WW and 1.12.1628EU. (I grouped them into two firmware devices). They are all H/W version A1, agent version 2.0.15-b11. If I setup time to automatic time configuration and sync with NTP servers ( all from drop down list and Thailand NTP server time1.nimt.or.th) , they did not work and I must set time manually every times I power off and on these IP cameras. I knew that this issues has been raised for long times and still exist in the current firmware.Simple way to eliminate this problem is specifying NTP server into IP number. ping your national NTP server URL and then get the IP address , e.g. time1.nimt.or.th has IP 203.185.69.60 , or ntp1.dlink.com has IP 61.67.210.241. I have tested many ways and the results can be comfirmed that URL NTP letter cannot sync time but IP number can do. I also has a DAP-1360 Repeater mode and test with its "System Check" ping test, the result are success either URL NTP server name and IP number. NTP protocol is different to ping test. I'm not sure that which parties (ISP, DNS, Router, IP camera device) should fix this error. I decided to specify NTP server with IP number to all network devices from D-Link. Minor risk may occur if a national NTP server change its IP number.
