On my moms laptop, (month old Lenovo B570/i3-3230/4GB/W7), when transferring files to my Crucial Gizmo! 16GB USB Drive, it is pretty much impossible to surf the web. Loading websites take 30-60 seconds, it's ridiculous. Is this normal? Her router is Linksys WRT54G. Router is not connected via USB, in fact the Laptop is connected through ethernet cable (not currently using wireless).

Internet connectivity on my laptop is lost shortly after beginning to upload/download files over the internet to my cloud storage provider. I also lose connectivity when transferring files to or from the laptop within my LAN to a desktop computer connected via wireless router as part of a workgroup. Connectivity is only restored once I restart the laptop or uninstall, then reinstall drivers for my wireless network card. The issue then reoccurs once file transfers begin again.The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. The driver for my Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN internal network adapter are up to date. I have a Linksys WRT610N ver.2 router, and an HP Pavilion dv6500 laptop.

We have deployed an ACE 4710 and its working perfectly. But the problem is that after I chage the default gateway of the servers I am not able to transfer files from one server to other. Is there any special configuration needs to be done on ACE to achieve this?Other than copy Ping, telnet and everything is working fine from the servers. These servers are in the same subnet & VLAN.

I have a public Ftp server and when i ever i transfer the zipped files more than 50 MB or 70 MB or more than that, it fails. I used to upload by clicking the ftp site and copy past the file to the location. After a certain point of time, the download fails with the below error on the explorer.An error occured copying a file to the FTP server. However, the latest issue has me stumped, and is unacceptable.Whenever I am transferring files between 2 computers, I get kind of OK speed (5 MB/s). However, while this transfer happens, no other device can connect to the net. Actually, even trying to go to router home page (192.168.1.1) times out.The clients still say they are connected to the router, but I just can't get anywhere.As soon as the file transfer finishes, everything goes back to normal.EA4500 replaced a WRT54G. Never had any problems with that router. It was such a workhorse. Just needed to upgrade to a n-router.I am on the latest non-cloud firmware.I have reduced the MTU size to 1200. Not sure that matters.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Lenovo Ideapad y500 a few days ago, and the internet speed has been incredibly slow from the get-go. Loading images on pages takes way longer than it should, I can't watch streaming videos that last 4 minutes without it pausing to buffer every 5-10 seconds. It took about 20 minutes to download a 50mb file. My 4 year old laptop loads everything way faster, especially when downloading files. I did a ping test on both and everything was about the same, except I got a download speed of .75 mb/s on the new laptop, and between 12-17 mb/s on the old laptopI did a few ping tests, and this is what I got:Ping: 25 msDownload speed: .75 mbpsUpload speed: 4.10 mpbs.
And then I tried the same test with the laptop plugged directly in to the router with the ethernet cable and I got a ping of 20 + download speed of 25.12 mbps, and I tried loading a few youtube videos and they ran perfectly. Then I ran the test again over wifi, only this time I ran it sitting right next to the router. Still got download speeds of about 20 mbps. As soon as I got back to my room (which isn't that far from the router) the download speed dropped back to ~.80 and everything went back to loading slow again. The thing is, running the test from the exact same spot in my room on my old laptop, I still was able to get download speeds of around 18 mbps. My network card is an Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230 and the router is Linksys WRT150N wireless-n.I've tried downloading the wireless drivers from Lenovo, and it didn't change anything. So those are up to date. There were no firmware updates available for the router on Linksys' site
We have a network drive (drive with Rj45 port) and it is shared by many computers. Frequently we are facing a problem while opening a file and we get the error message "The file is opened by another user" and can open only as ready only.
How can I find who has opened the file in the network drive?
I got a strange incident happening to my work computer. Whenever i step away from my desk and come back only to find Icons of files mapped to other network drives other than my local drive have disappeared from desktop. I have to restart my computer to get these back. It only happens when i have walked away from my PC and I have verified that no one has sat at my desk to use my computer while I'm away. The other PC are also networked to the same servers as mine and theirs are not affected at all.

Everything is set up in the router software. The tuner detects the USB drive as a UPnP device, shows the directories I've set up for media share. If I select an AAC or FLAC file to play, the tuner loads it and plays. If I select an MP3 file, it loads, shows it as 100% buffered -- and hangs. Every time. The other devices on the router's network (wired desktop, wireless laptop, wireless tablet) can load and play the MP3s along with the other file types from the same USB-connected drive. That's why I figure the router isn't causing the problem.
I moved to Comcast internet yesterday (from 3Mbps DSL), and the E4200 seems to be working well (although somewhere along the way it decided to delete all the files on the NAS drive...an issue for another day). On my laptops and wired PCs I'm now seeing 15-20Mbps down, and 4Mbps up. However, when I connect with my iPhone 3GS, I only see about 7.5Mbps down, and 4Mbps up using online speedtests. I have tried messing with the router settings and resetting all the network settings on the iPhone but nothing changes. I know my iPhone can handle more, because I get 15Mbps down when I visit family (they have a Netgear N300). I can only conclude that my E4200 is the cause.

I've done a bit of research and have come up with a few options: Asus rt-n56u, netgear wndr 4500, and the apple airport extreme. Both my desktop and laptop pc so I'm not sure if that effects the outcome. I am going to need a usb port for an ext hdd, which all of them have. All of the routers have a 5hz signal for better streaming. Would I be able to use the apple airport? It seems the have the best reviews. But I question the compatibility and some of the reviews due to possible fanboyism. Also, If I connect my desktop to the router via a crossover cable and have an ext hdd hooked into the router can I transfer files to the ext hdd and stream that data over a 5 hz signal?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf Anonymous Disk Access is selected, read-only files cannot be deleted; nor can the file attributes be changed. This is true even if one attempts to connect as an administrator. Unchecking Anonymous Disk Access and logging on as an administrator fixed this problem for me, but I'd think there are 2 issues.
1. Anonymous Disk Access should allow deletion of ANY files. I would expect this to be a "wide open" setting.
2. If Anonymous Disk Access is selected, a valid login should take precedence.
I recently copied files to my hard drive that was connected directly to my computer (via USB).When I connected the disk back to E3000 the files were missing. I connected it back to PC directly and verified the files are there.My PC runs Windows 7 Enterprise.Why can't I see files copied via local connection when I connect the disk to E3000.I carefully compared the permissions with files that I can see just fine and there is no difference - same permissions, same owner.I also get all kinds of permission errors when I try to delete a files from the network drive.

I recently set up a an external hard drive as a UPnP media server through my router. My media devices and my computer can see the drive fine. My question is, what is the best way to add files to the drive? It seems like a hassle to plug it into a computer directly every time I want to add more files, and FTP is kind of clunky. Is there any sort of software I can put on the drive or any better way to drop files onto it?I'm using a Seagate 2TB USB Drive formatted as FAT32 connected to a lemonade-equipped Westell 7501 router. I understand that it may be that I'm trying to get too high tech with my $7 router, but it seems that there should be a better solution.

When I moved some movie files to another folder they lost all of their data. The file names are still present, but all the media files show zero bytes and are no longer usable. Is there anyway to get these files back? I have been digitizing all our movies to the tune of about 90GB. What could be going on here? I disconnected the HD from the router and plugged directly into the laptop. Still shows the file names, but each file is still at zero bytes. Not a cool way to have a media server for your house!

However, when I come in through the Internet via an iOS device, I can see folders but when I try to enter the folder, all I get is a message that displays "|Folder|Enter Into Folder|Select|. There is no click-through capability other than "Return to Upper Folder", which takes me back to folders.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought a seagate USB hard drive today from Target. Its a 2TB and I was going to use it via USB attached to my router. I connected it and the Linksys firmware detected it and I was able to create the appropriate folders on the drive for storage through the linksys GUI.My issue is that I am now trying to move my movies and tv shows over to the drive and it isn't allowing me to do that.
I get an error message that says "You don't have access to //myshare. contact your administrator".

I have a Wrt160n router and a Motorola sb120 modem (provided by comcast after my original modem got fried by lightning, no I didn't have my router hooked up when that happened), I have been having trouble trying to get the modem to send the internet signal to my router. I have tried mac address clone that was suggested on this forum for someone with a different router but still no internet to my computer, its all hooked up through Ethernet cables, the computer I have it hooked up with a hard line is running windows seven. When I plug the modem straight to the computer it works and I have internet but when I hook up the router between them it has no internet.

I initially was having problems accessing the drive from both my HTPC and my laptop. I flushed the dns and reset winsock. reset IPv4 TCP/IP,and reset IPv6 TCP/IP.This fixed the problem from the laptop to the desktop, but the HTPC is still having problems accessing the desktop. The desktop however has no problems accessing the HTPC.Also have disabled auto tuning and the rdc.Forgot to add: Laptop is wireless the other two are wired.

Theres a few shares that all contain similar ammounts of data (about 80gbs worth) however one drive for some reason takes 5 seconds to open. View 4 Replies View RelatedBasic info: SBS 2008 (64bit), XP-sp3 (32bit) workstations, gigabit switch, SEP. App is Sage Masterbuilder.Network config: Server is 1gb to switch over CAT6. All the workstations are 100mb over CAT5. SEP is set to exclude all pertinent files on both the server and workstations.Problem: The program is called MasterBuilder and does job costing and much more. In the job costing feature there is an option to "Compute" job costing. In version 16.x, when the "Compute" was performed the task was done very quickly. After an upgrade to version 17.x it is very SLOW. According to tech support, our network is at fault since it is a database function over the network.Troubleshooting done: Tech support blamed our network speed (100mb) and switch. We had a Netgear 100mb switch so we replaced it with a GB switch however the cabling will not support GB. Being a managed switch I set all the ports to 100mb except the server port. Even tried the server plugged into a 100mb port and no change. I am confident there are no speed issues on our network. All other programs perform flawlessly. ACAD, Exchange, data transfers and many other high data use programs work perfectly. I updated the network card drivers in the server as well. There are no performance or resource issues on the workstations. I monitored the network traffic at the workstations, server and switch with no issues and about 2.5% utilization during the slow "Compute" process. The switch shows no errors at all, no collisions, no dropped packets, nothing. I also disabled the SEP.
During testing and while the slow "Compute" was going on, I copied a large folder (400mb) from the server to the workstations see the impact on network utilization. As soon as I start the copy process the "Compute" process speeds up to normal and zips by as it should. As soon as I cancel the copy process the "Compute" drops right back to very slow.
