Linksys Cable / DSL :: AM200 Consider Invalid IP 2.113.120.209
Jul 26, 2011I'm trying to setting up a Linksys AM200 in routing mode, with static ip (WAN), but when I insert 2.113.120.209/30 ip and subnet, a popup show up and sais that the ip si not valid. The same happend when i put the address in local side.
I put the same configuration over another different device and everything goes fine.
I reset the configuration of the AM200 from the factory defaults

Mar 23, 2012I can't get a new IP from my ISP when my Cable modem router(EPC3925) is set to router mode, i have tried factory restore, unplugged etc..but still no luck. It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?

Nov 8, 2012Using Cisco 1811W with IOS 15.1(4)M5. FE0 and FE1 are connected to the internet via Billion ADSL2+ modems operating in bridged mode. Both lines are similar so I'll only discuss FE0 from this point on.Local subnet is 192.168.128.0/24 with router on 192.168.128.1 as default gateway. Modem on FE0 has static LAN IP of 192.168.128.2 and when plugged into the switch on the LAN side, the web interface can be accessed at that IP address. Unplug the modem from the switch and plug it into FE0 and it now works as desired providing access from the router to the internet but the web interface is no longer accessable at 192.168.128.2
I tried adding a static route "ip route 192.168.128.2 255.255.255.255 FastEthernet 0" and also "ip route 192.168.128.2 255.255.255.255 Dialer 1" Neither worked and presumably it isn't that straight forward. Possibly NAT or other routing configuration required.Although there isn't much to configure when in bridged mode, I mostly want this setup so I can look at the ADSL connection status and for the modem to write messages to syslog (works when plugged into switch on LAN side), or SNMP access.

Mar 9, 2011I want to configure my router to use 2 ADSL lines each with a dialer and a modem in RFC2684 mode. I have a 2821 (IOS 12.4) with an HWIC-4ESW.
My network topology is like this :
ADSL Modem 1 (RFC2684) --
(Fa0/0/0)
Router -- (Gi0/1) MyLAN
(Fa0/0/1)
ADSL Modem 2 (RFC2684) --/
1. I configure my DSL Modem in RFC 2684. The first use 172.16.0.2/29 and the second 172.16.0.3/29. I connect this devices to Fa0/0/0 and Fa0/0/1.
2. I configure Vlan1 to use the network configured on my modem :
interface Vlan1
ip address 172.16.0.1 255.255.255.248
3. I try to ping my devices :
#ping 172.16.0.2

Feb 5, 2012I've a Shiro DSL805E Modem and to connect to multiple computers, I connected an Encore 5 Port Switch. Now I got laptop and thought of getting a wireless network, so I bought TP-Link TL-MR3420 Wireless Router and connected it to the one of the wires from the Encore Switch. But I'm unable to access the internet through TP-Link Router but the internet works fine for the computers which are directly connected to switch. how to do ip settings for TP-Link Router. But when I connect router directly to modem by bypassing switch, it works fine but not via switch. Linksys Cable / DSL :: WCG200 Bridge Mode From Wireless-G Cable Gateway To Wired?
Mar 14, 2013Our family has about three computers that use a wireless network that we all share. We have an old Gateway, a WCG200, that is bridged to an E2000, which was set-up ever since we required better security when someone used our connection to illegally obtain movies. We got a letter which warned us of any future violations that could cause legal action, so we looked into our wireless connection to better secure it from any other individuals outside of our household. The WCG200 is connected to the outlet in the wall via cable, and then connects from the Ethernet to the E2000. The E2000 has a stronger security setup than the WCG200, which is the advice we received from our ISP and would allow us to keep the Gateway. It provides a strong signal, but from time to time, we suffer latency or slow loading through all of our online devices, even though our connection speed displays a solid 72.0 Mbps. I've tried the Event Viewer to see any problems, and I have noticed some small things:
- WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.Wirel?
- WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped. Module Path: C:WindowsSystem32cmihvsrv64.dll
- The server {E10F6C3A-F1AE-4ADC-AA9D-2FE65525666E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
- Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet: The network link is down. Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected. [This last one is strange, since I use the Wireless Network Connection with a DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card, while the Broadcom adapter is under the Local Area Connection and displayed as not connected.]
Other than that, I'm not quite sure what the recurring problem comes from. Our WCG200 has a firewall enabled and our E2000 has an SPI firewall enabled. The security mode of the E2000 is a WPA2 setup. We have disabled the wireless network of our WCG200 in order to make use of the E2000.

Oct 25, 2012The network card in my PC supports 1Gbit ethernet, my 2TB NAS also supports 1Gbit ethernet, however both of these are currently run through a 100Mbit cable modem/router thus reducing the connection speed. I was wondering if I purchased a 1Gbit switch and connected all my devices directly into that, then connected it into the cable modem, would the PC communicate with the NAS directly via the switch or would it go through the cable modem?

Dec 12, 2011I just bought a Linksys X3000 to work with my ADSL connection (provider is Singtel from Singapore). I managed to use Cisco connection application to logon and setup the router OK, yesterday. I even connected my PC to the router by LAN, and also a few devices wirelessly.At the end of the day, I switched off everything... but next morning, when I booted up the router, I found that all my devices cannot access internet. Upon checking the server (192.168.1.1), I found that it does not have a IP from Singtel, although on the router the internet symbol (globe sign) is lighted up.I rebooted the router twice, getting the same results (note: I waited for a long time each time, until the globe was lighted up).I disconnected the X3000, and reconnected my Netgear DGN2000. It worked (and retrieved an IP address from Singtel). I then disconnected the Netgear and reconnected X3000. To my surprise, this time X3000 got the IP address and then internet is working again.

My main modem is a Lynksys WAG120N Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router, which as you can see is also in charge of both wired and wireless networks at my place. The second one is an older D-Link ADSL modem (JUST modem).Since I have an extra LAN port on my Lynksys modem, I want to know if and how I can connect the second modem, and combine the two rates.

I am having trouble with one of my customer's networks and I think I have the problem narrowed down. r issues.I have a customer with a FS726T switch and ~20 computers connected to this switch running DHCP assigned addresses.The switch is assigning addresses in the 10.0.0.xx rangehe customer currently has an old T1 line coming into a Cisco router, which then directs traffic to port 20 on the switch.The problem is, we are replacing the old T1 line with a newer 50mbps cable connection.The cable company pre-configured their router with a static IP address the 68.116.xx.xx range. The Subnet is also different than the Netgear's subnet. I would like to keep the old T1 connection in place. I believe they have data that needs to go to their mainframe/backbone server at corporate.
I cannot log in to the cable modem. IT is an SMC SMCD3G with a staic IP. I tried changing my PC's IP address to the same gateway but cannot get into the cable company's modem, even using a static IP with the same gateway as the modem's gateway address. I don't want to reset the modem/router and lose the cable company's settings.I am pretty sure for the devices to communicate, the following has to be true?:1) Cable modem and FS726T must be on the same 10.0.0.xx IP range?2) Cable modem and FS726T must be on the same 255.255.255.0 subnet mask?
Cisco WAN :: Connecting Cable Modem Through 3560 Switch?
Apr 12, 2011I have a 3560 series switch and two comcast cable modems. I connected the modems to them switch via cross over cables and set an OSPF routing on their subnets. I connected my wireless router to another port of the switch and set its gateway IP on the switch port. I can ping the modem with the switch and I can ping the wireless too. But I cannot access to the Internet via the wireless router.
I need load balancing on two cable modems and get a single network connection via the wireless router.
