Linksys WR 54G2 V1 - Get Xp To Connect To The Web?
Nov 5, 2011
I am trying to get my xp to connect to the web, it was working before I had to reinstall. I am hard wired into the Linksys WR&54G2 V1 router which is working fine while booted into win7 and 2 wireless laptops. I have Quest DSL. Symptoms are it just keeps showing "aquireing network address" and when I try to turn on win firewall it says "cannot register DNS".
I have included the net test.txt and a pic of cmd ipconfig/all.

I have a wireless Linksys E1500 router, and for quite a few months now, my router just stopped working properly. It quit, I unplugged everything and plugged it back in, and it worked, but from that point on, it's been displaying this:
I've tried changing the Ethernet cables

I just bought the e1000 router today and I'm already having trouble. I got it setup the first time and all my computers set up with it and it works fine for internet. Everything is snappy and responsive and I don't have any of the problems I did with my old belkin. However, I am unable to connect to the router using cisco connect or the web interface. I need to forward ports, configure wireless security, etc etc. All I did was disable the guest account through cisco connect, and then when the software just sat there doing nothing with the spinning circle in the middle, I opened task manager and killed the process to get it to go away. Now I can't connect using either cisco connect or the web interface.

I am trying to set up a wireless repeater at home and it requires that I get configuration settings from my wireless router. However I can't access the router configuration screen. The router is a Linksys WRT54G.I am trying to access it using the IP address 192.168.1.1.I keep getting an error that says the page cannot be accessed.
-I have tried using both my a wireless and wired connection to the router. I confirmed the internet connection before attempting this.
-I have tried using internet explorer and Firefox
-Some posts on this site suggested trying 192.168.2.1, and 172.16.106.1, neither worked (they timed out)
-I typed ipconfig and into the cmd prompt and found that 192.168.1.1 IS my default gateway
-I tried adding the "s" (https://192.168.1.1) and got a username and password prompt.I do not believe I ever set up a username and password for my router.

We can't find the Linksys router's manual and have no clue what is causing our WiFi not to let us access certain websites. For example, we are unable to access the Microsoft, Target, our local Library, YouTube and some other ones that we find out about once it doesn't let us get on them. We thought it was an issue with Microsoft Security Essentials because we hadn't updated it correctly, but that was not it. The reason we know it is OUR WiFi because we can access the sites I mentioned above whenever we use our apt complex WiFi, so it is not our laptop. We have the same problem with this when using our wifi on our iTouch. I hope that all made sense (had to access this site with my phone.)

I've tried everything I can think of to try to connect to the internet with my Linksys WRT120N router.
The Problem
A few months ago my internet was out for a few hours, but I thought it was a router problem so I disconnected the router and connected my computer to the internet through my DSL modem. Of course, I couldn't connect to the internet because the internet was just out for a few hours on my provider's end. But after that the router wouldn't connect back to the internet.
Computer Specs
Windows Vista 32 bit. Intel Core2 DUO, 2.20 GHz, 2 GB RAM
Here are a list of things I've tried.
1. Installing it with the install disc.
2. Installing it manually
3. Updating the Firmware
4. Resetting the router multiple times
5. Making sure that Obtain IP Address Automatically is selected
6. Putting my MAC address into the router settings
7. Renewing my IP address
8. Flushing my DNS
9. Disabling both my Firewall and then making sure Windows Firewall was off
10. While doing all of this I rebooted my computer and powered down my DSL modem and router several times.

I have belkin homeplugs connecting my O2 wireless box in one room to my ps3 in another room because the wireless signal is pretty bad through all the walls, I recently dug out an old linksys router and tried connecting that to the homeplug in between the homeplug and the ps3 to improve the wireless reception (ie. connect to the linksys router on my phone when i'm playing on the ps3) but when I connected it all up I was expecting the DCHP to sort out all the IP addressing and internet routing but this was not the case, i'm abl to connect to the linksys router no problem but the router doesn't seem to be interfacing with the O2 wireless box at all for an internet connection. Aany way I can sort this out manually?

I recently restored my computer to factory settings and had to reinstall everything. I can not get on the internet. All the lights that should be on are on on both the modem (Westell Wirespeed) and the Linksys Router (Wireless-G), I have strong signal and it says it is connected in my network connections, but no pages load. If I take the router out of the equation and just use the modem and ethernet cord the internet works perfectly. I have no clue what to do. I know the router works because it worked fine before I restored the computer. I am running Windows XP. I don't know what service pack though

I've been connecting my WRT54G2 router to our modem, and then using another ethernet cable to connect to my PC. That way I can have a wireless connection in my room and also be connected on my desktop. However, recently, I reset my router because I was having connection issues with a certain program, and I ran the setup CD afterwards just like I have every single time I've done this, but now I can't connect. I can access the router settings and everything just fine.It says I have a connection, and when I connect my desktop directly to my modem, I can connect just fine. When I have the router connected to the modem and try and connect wirelessly with another device, the access point pops up, and it begins to connect, but then fails in the end.

I have a Linksys WRT54GS router. It has been performing fine for many years. We have 2 PCs and 2 MacBooks that get on the wifi network with no problem. However, several months ago, a friend could not get his iPad online. Last week, a guest with a PC couldn't get online. I just bought an iPhone and it can't get online either. In all 3 cases, the devices found the network but when we typed the correct password the devices were unable to connect. The 4 laptops connect with no problem.
how to get my new iPhone and other new devices to connect?

How may I connect my Globesurfer III MiFi (with ATT Data Card) to a Linksys WiFirouter so that I extend the range of my MiFi device?Somehow, I think I need to convert the Linksys IP address to the Globesurfer address of 192.168.1.1 but, if that is so, how would I logon to my Linksys to change its IP address? You can see I am very green in all of this. I am told it is doable, but how?I am not even sure how to properly hook-up my Linksys to my computer and then enter its settings/ IP section. Do I connect with the WAN Internet input or the Ethernet outputs?

I've bought this router about seven months ago. I tried setting it up right when i got it but it didn't work. I ran out of time during my break and am now getting around to trying again. I've tried numerous resets and reboots, messed with most of the settings individually, but I never can connect to the internet through the router. The internet works with my old linksys router and directly connected to the computer, just not when connected to the router. I've tried calling up my internet provider, and the tech guy couldn't figure out what was wrong either. We have a DSL connection, and the MAC address of this computer is cloned into the router if that makes a difference.

A couple years ago I changed my modem/router to a Linksys WAG320N from a D-Link crappy half-broken one.
I used to connect my PS3 via wireless to said modem without any issues whatsoever, but I'm unable to do the same with the Cisco one.
I've tested both the PS3 and WAG320N wireless connections and they work just fine using different modems/routers and PCs. I also used an ethernet cable to connect PS3 and WAG320N and the connection is fine.
When I try to setup the network the following messages pops-up after inputting the router's password: "A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security settings for the wireless LAN."
What I tried so far:
- Switch WAG320N wireless mode from B/G/N-mixed to Only G (used by PS3)
- Change password protection from WPA2-mixed(AES) to WEP
- Remove password protection
- Change Channel Bandwidth from 40MHz to 20MHz
- Change Wireless Radio Band from 2.4GHz to 5GHz

I've bought a TP-LINK TL-PA211KIT and I've been able to get it working, though not via the Powerline Utility software that came with it.On a Virgin Media 100mb connection, through the powerline I'm getting around 30mb which otherwise would be about 5mb via wifi.I would like to plug a Linksys WRT-160N router into the 2nd adapter in order to extend wifi in the far reaches of the house so not just my laptop can connect. Unfortunately when I try, it doesn't work, but presumably I have to set up the remote Linksys router to match settings on the network somehow?

I just got internet and cable at my apartment the other day. My roommate and I got Cox Cable and my roommate had a used Linksys router to connect to the modem. I'm not sure how the Linksys was set up (I'll get that information soon), but the internet worked for her without her having to connect her laptop to the router. When I tried to use the wifi, I was never able to connect properly. It would say that I was connected to the router, but that I wasn't able to use the internet. Then I tried to connect the laptop to the Linksys router with a ethernet cable and the internet worked. Also, after I unplug the ethernet I am able to use the internet, but the connection goes out every so often. I also wanted to use my PS3 with the wifi, but at this point I doubt it will work unless I find some solution. As for specs, the Linksys is a Model # BEFW11S4 ver. 4. Oh, and now my roommate is having the same problems now.[CODE]

How to configure settings for router E4200I live in Finland and bought new Cisco Linksys WAG320n router modem as I am experienced Cisco user. However after spending several hours and setups on the WAG320n router I cannot get it to connect on the ISP ADSL line.
RFC2684 Bridged
LLC/SNAP
g.dmt or ADSL2+
VPI 0
VCI 100
But once I setup these or acutally any other setting I cannot get the router to connect. With the right settings I can get the DSL PVC status up and connected but the ModemRouter cannot connect and retrieve IP-address from ISP.
