I have an E3000 working as a wireless and wired router and 1 portable connected over Wireless-N
I recently upgraded from a Linksys WRT54GS. I had not problems with the WRT54GS but I needed the gigabit router and 5Ghz N-band. Ever since I upgraded I am experiencing constant pauses or hangs for about 1-3 seconds between the LAN traffic to the portable machines and vice versa.
I have been using a Linksys E3000 router for a few months now. Love it. But this last week, when ever I wake my monitor up after it's power saving mode kicks in, I lose my internet connection for about 15 seconds. If you look at the router before the monitor is on, I am connected. The light is on for port 1. But as soon as my monitor gets turned back on, it light just turns off and will reconnect after about 15 seconds. I've looked it up online and can only find things about when the entire system wakes up, and usually those people have to reboot their entire system to get a connection again, or turn the router off then back on. My PC (Windows 7) is directly connected to the router. I got to the point where I named the router in the install process the first time, but then it hung.

Have tried to use the CD to re-setup with no success. I've tried the hard reset holding in the button for 10 seconds and unplugging but nothing has changed.
I have 2 X E4200 router, one is directly connected to the internet and the other is in the bridge mode connected to the first router. I have apple TV connected directly with the bridge router on one of the Ethernet port.I notice that when you start apple Airplay mirroring on the iPad2 both the routers will hangs with no reason and the only way to fix it is to reboot the routers. I have reset both the routers to factory default twice they both are running firmware 1.0.03 build 14 .Â
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been through three chat sessions on this without resolution and support tells me just to factory reset. After some time (weeks) after a successful local login to the admin page subsequent attempt to login just hang. After entering the admin password the page changes and says "Waiting" under revolving circles. It will sit there for over 1 hour. I have tried IE, chrome and firefox on Windows 7 and Windows 8 on three different machines and it behaves the same. Of course I have to go through this same process with the support people every time and every time they come to the conclusion that I have to do a factory reset. But so far Linksys denies that there is a defect.

Â They installed a gateway to replace their old modem, but I have had it bridged so it should act as a modem. Â Speedtest.net shows downloads on the order of 40-50 Mbps and uploads around 5 Mbps. Â If I try doing something interactively that pushes the speed and size of files (like flying over Google earth using my mouse to guide the direction and speed) my connection seems to hang. Â I have to reset the router (unpower and repower it) to get my internet connection to work. Â This has also happened when I quickly downloaded a series of large images - I click to get the next page fairly soon after the current page has finished downloaded. Â My router is a WRT350N. Â

View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased a WRT160N router last Friday. After setting it up, everything seemed to work fine, but after a couple of hours, the router stopped responding to any requests. The LEDs stayed on as if nothing had happened, but the router was dropping everything coming from both the WAN and a wired LAN interface. Since than, I had to restart it 3 times during the last 3 days.The firmware is 1.53.0, which seems to be the latest firmware for the European market - even when I try to get a newer firmware, this site only offers the US version 1.02.2.Should I update the firmware to the US version 1.02.2 ? Is there any difference between the 1.53.0 and the 1.02.2 version ? Is there a way to restore the original firmware in case the update fails ? I haven't found any link to 1.53.0 version..Also, does this firmware updating affect my warranty ?

There's 1 computer wired to it, that works fine. Then I have 2 laptops and a pc wireless to it. One laptop is a mac and that seems to be fine, another is a Compaq notebook that has trouble connecting and the pc has the same problem. The signal strength is very good to excellent so thats not the issue. What happens with the pc is, it will connect but at times its only for a few seconds then it disconnects. Sometimes restarting the computer fixes it for a while but it will eventually start having the problem again. It detects the wireless network just fine, and the router's firmware is up to date. I have a feeling that its the settings in the router but im not sure what to change.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere's the problem : I've installed this router to a friends of mine home and since then in the gam "Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War 2 : Retribution" they can't play together (they're connected via WAN) in a 2v2 without getting disconnected FROM THE INTERNET (not only the game, the whole ADSL line collapse after an over 3000ms of ping for few sec.). Same thing if one of them try to make a 3v3 (so 1 with the WAG160Nv2, and 2 other persons via internet.), 3000pings for few sec and then they get DC from the internet, after few sec the router gets back online but still they can't play together or make a 3v3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe've got a network consisting out of Cisco 3750 and 2960 units on which STP is enabled. We are trying to get a WAP200 working in this environment. Problem is that the WAP200 is sending out STP data every 2 seconds (checked with Wireshark) wich is causing mayhem on the network. The situation will not settle down to a stable situation.Question:Is there any way in which the STP traffic generated by the WAP200 can be disabled ?

When I connect to the router wireless 192.168.1.1 and log in, it takes a few seconds for the web interface to display. Same happens when switching to the different config tabs. Is there any reason for this? I would think it would be immediate but it takes anywhere from 3-5 seconds for IE9 to respond.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy new EA4500 works fine all day, both wireless and wifi, on both bands, but nearly every evening, the wifi signal disappears, as shown on a wifi app for my smart phone, but not on Issid on my laptop, strangely, and my PC laptop and iPad both disconnect, then reconnect. Smart phone disconnects too. It isn't like the signal drops in strength, it just goes away! I have tried various settings on modes, and bandwidths, I am using different SSID's on each band, WPA2 security with a long non-dictionary passphrase and MAC filtering. The hardwire connection works great at 30+ Mbps even when the wifi is disappearing from the wifi scanner and the wifi connections are dropping. In other words, the cable connection/modem is working fine, but the wifi radio signal stops or the SSID drops off the signal. I really can't tell, but I know it is becoming very frustrating. The old WRT54GS works fine if I put it back on-line in the evening when these things start to happen.Â

I have turned off everything I can think of in the house that transmits or might transmit, in case it is an interference thing. I have tried disabling the 5 GHz side, since I can't see what is happening on that band, and the last thing I tried was changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400. So far, the past evening, it was okay, but I am not confident it will stay that way.Â
Since a few days my WRT120N gives an audio alarm (beep) about every 10 secs. Cannot find how to overcome this or find the root cause. Installed new s/w version. H/W reset. Nothing works.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a EA4500 to replace my old WRT54G earlier this year. At first the router worked fine. After the automatic firmware upgrade to Cisco Connect Cloud, I was never able to get the Connect Cloud stuff to work, constant 500 Internal Server errors when trying to access the router with the Internet cable attached. Â So I downgraded back to the old firmware and all was well again. Then I started having problems a few months ago, when I would wake up in the morning, the router would be cycling the Internet port on and off. I could usually reboot everything and it would work the rest of the day. I lived with it like this a while, and support couldn't seem to find anything wrong. Eventually it started getting worse, until the point I could hardly ever get it to stay connected. I got Cisco to RA the old router and I figured problem solved. Now while the EA4500 was gone, I used my WRT54G again, and everything worked fine for nearly two weeks while I was waiting on the replacement EA4500.
So today the new EA4500 showed up, I connected and configured it, and it worked for a short time. Then suddenly I lost Internet, looked up at the modem and the LAN light was going on and off every few seconds. So I'm back in the same boat as before.I've tried changing cables, same setup works fine with the WRT54G. Modem works fine with WRT54G and connected directly to the computer, zero problems. I tried lowering the MTU, turning on MAC address cloning, and various other things.My modem is a HughesNet HN9000.
What the heck is key renewal? And why does it change every 3600 seconds? Does that mean my password will change? If so how do I connect additional devices to my Wi-Fi after the 3600 seconds?

Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back.The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.

I have what I thought was the password but no idea what the username was. I tried Administrator and what I had written down as the password but nada. I reset the modem and tried to log in with the default usr/pass ( usr= leave blank , pass= admin) and it is still not working . I also tried other combination of admin, administraror, password and still nothing. Any usr/password that might work? Also I though of I might get around this problem by flashing to dd-wrt or tomato do I need to do anything in webadmin to do this?

However, several months ago, a friend could not get his iPad online. Last week, a guest with a PC couldn't get online. I just bought an iPhone and it can't get online either. In all 3 cases, the devices found the network but when we typed the correct password the devices were unable to connect. The 4 laptops connect with no problem.

But the problem I'm having is not being able to make it a secure network to keep my neighbors from pinging off of my internet. I know when they come home everday without looking out my window. I've set a static ip, and setup everything according to portforward.com and previous experience, I've never had to get ports to work with either this router or computer, so I can't say if it's ever worked for either.
