Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WMP54g V4 - How To Uninstall Old Driver Completely
Sep 29, 2011I had an antenna break on a WMP54g v 4.1 and I was able to replace it with a WMP54g v 4 but I'm not having a lot of luck getting the driver to install. This is on Win7 32 bit Home Premium. I assume this is due to the fact that I was using a newer and switched to an older piece of hardware and there is some driver issues. How to uninstall the old driver completely so I can start fresh I have tried everything I know to do and can't seem to get anywhere.

Feb 4, 2011I have a Linksys wireless-g broadbrand router ( WRT54G ) in my bedroom along with my cable modem and everything runs fine in my room. But I also have a pretty old computer in another bedroom about maybe 15 or 20 feet away from the current setup. On that computer I have a wireless g adapter that's connect through a usb port and has very low signal strength. I sometimes use that computer and I'm always getting kicked off I'm guessing because the signal cuts out. So, today I plugged in the adapter in my room with my setup and had amazing signal. What can I do to give that other computer a good boost? I know I should update that computer but I'm guessing I also need to somehow boost the signal somehow.

Feb 1, 2011So I was having trouble loading a game on my computer and I was scrolling through forums looking for an answer and one answer that supposively worked for a lot of people was to unisntall and reinstall my network card.IT told me to go to devices -> right click network adapter -> uninstall -> then scan for hardwarer changes to reinstall When I clicked uninstall an error message popped up and said "Unable to uninstall device because device is required on startup" and then it apparently just uninstalled it anyway and it showed back up after I clicked "scan for hardware changes".Now ever since, everytime I try and connect to the internet my computer says "Limited or no connectivity" and I'm unable to access the internet on that computer, the computer I am on now can connect just fine, so it must have something to do with the network card that i supposively unisntalled.

It connected but the program seemed buggy as there seemed to be no way to close the program after I used it so I wanted to uninstall it and install a more recent version of QuickVPN (side question: is it possible to VPN connect to my RV082 router with a different version of QuickVPN?).
I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1 with all the latest updates. The AE1000 works great so far, in the one day I've had it, and it appears to start itself and connect when turning the computer on (unlike other people on here that I've seen). BUT, it's all pointless if I can't put my computer into standby. The adapter kicks it right back out as soon as I try to sleep the computer.
I've checked the device settings and "allow the device to wake the computer" is unchecked (in fact, it's grayed out). I rarely turn off the computer; I much prefer to just put it in standby. I don't want to have to unplug the adapter every time I do that.

Sep 9, 2012I picked up a AE3000 for an older laptop, but it will not connect to any network. It is on an older (01') dell laptop running XP SP3. I have tried using the disk and downloading the latest drivers on-line but no luck. It picks up all the networks around me and mine, but it says trying to connect and just can't. I tried it on another laptop and everything works fine. Is there an issue with this adapter and the original USB ports or XP in general? I have checked and rechecked the passcodes, I have deleted all of the profiles and started from the beginning again. I removed my anti-virus program as well as the last effort. Nothing I do seems to make a difference though.This is just used to access the internet on a laptop that is dedicated to a telescope.

Nov 2, 2012I had a hard drive failure recently and replaced my HDD with an identical HDD (WD 500 AAKS) and did a restore from my WD Passport Essential. Everything works as before except I can't install my AE1000 wireless adapter. The OS recognizes the new hardware and I attempt instalation form the setup CD. Istallation goes until it gets to the "Installing" step and then it just stays there forever until it comes back with an error. I am accessing the internet now through a cat 5 ethernet hook-up.
