View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an AE3000 dual band wireless adapter using the Win 7 Pro OS. At work our routers all use the same SSID, but utilize different channels. In terms of signal strength, the strongest signal is usually, but not always, one of the channels on the 2.4GHZ band (usually 11). However, in terms of speed of connection and lack of overcrowding, the best signal is invariably one the channels on the 5GHZ band (usually 161). My AE3000 will inevitably connect to the strongest signal (channel 11) even though it only slightly stronger than the signal on channel 161 and furnishes a much slower connection than that obtainable on channel 161. Is there any way I can "force" the AE3000 to connect via channel 161 rather than channel 11?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased two of these units. One used with a quad core AMD rig and another with a single core AMD rig. Both systems are running Windows 7 but the older single core system is having issues. I noticed that I keep hearing the sound of a USB device being disconnected but wasnt sure what it was until I noticed when I try to copy large files over wireless the AE1000 disconnects from my system like I've unplugged it. I've swapped the two units and it didn't solve the problem. My newer quad core doesn't experience the issue at all. I've also tried different USB ports but that doesn't solve the issue either.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am redoing my homes networking and I am looking for a firewall. I heard that you can install clear os on a server and use it as a firewall and a dhcp server. So i was going to install it on a rack in my server cabinet. does the server need to have a wan port and a lan port? Or how does the server get connected? So, so far its the cable modem into the clear os firewall and then into my switch. Is is possible to use the clear os server as the dhcp server for the whole house? From the switch I am going to connect the rest of my servers, and the rest of the house. I was going to connect two wireless routers for my house. Would that work with the clear os server?

Where can i find driver for WPC54G ver.4 (FOUR). I looked for on official site, and there are drivers only for ver. 1, 2, 3, 3.1, 5, and 7! Where can i find drivers for ver.4?
My OS is MS Windows 2000 SP4.
I had been using my Linksys wireless-G PCI adapter WMP54Gv4 in a PC running XP (SP3) and an Airport Extreme wireless router for the past 4 or 5 years without any issues. Then recently, my wireless signal had become flaky on all client machines (on both PC and various Macs, which reported weak signal and kept dropping and searching for a new PPPoE from my DSL line). AT&T verified our line was fine and even sent a new modem but troubles persisted, so I bought a new Airport Extreme last week. This solved the network reliability issue on the Macs just fine.
However, the PC with the WMP54Gv4 adapter now crashes whenever the new Airport Extreme is turned on. There have been no hardware or software changes on the PC, yet it now reliably produces a BSOD stating "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". This crash also happens when booting in safe mode with networking. I can avoid the system crash when booting in safe mode without networking or booting normally without my Airport Extreme turned on, though I do see this error: "Linksys Wireless Network Monitor: Access violation at address 0040756D in module EMP54Gv4.exe"
So I cannot run any tests of the PCI card on the machine when the wireless network is on, since the operating system crashes.
The evidence thus points to an explanation where my wireless network from the new Airport Extreme is tripping up the operation of the linksys wireless card in a way that XP hates. I know the wireless network is OK, since it works fine on my Macs. I confirmed that my driver (v3.0.3.0) is still listed as current for this PCI card, so it's not a matter of having an out-of-date driver.
Here's another observation that may be relevant: When I first started using the new Airport Extreme with WPA2 protection, the PC could run without crashing, but it could not connect to the wireless network. I also had trouble connecting via my Macs. Then I switched the Airport Extreme to use WPA/WPA2 security, which is when the network-based PC crashing ensued (though the Macs can now connect just fine).
We bought an Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster (WPC54GS: [URL] for an laptop ( HP Pavilion dv6137eu : [URL] for my sister. at the specifications of the laptop, it tells me (translated): Pc card slots: 1 ExpressCard/54 slot (also supporting ExpressCard/34) first question: is that slot the right one, fitting the cisco wpc54gs?
if we bought the right thing, whats wrong then? : The problem is, she installed everything like how its told in steps 1a-g of: steps [URL] then she plugged in restarted like the next step told. even after a new restart, the laptop seems to not recognise the card. even the power light isn't light up. Is the power light only light up when its also installed and recogised by the computer? or does it have to light up from the moment its connected to the slot? we couldn't also find it at the device manager:
the network adapters we found are, i think, the build in ones. at what folder at the hardware tree had the card in de bus has to appear? i dont know what the only device thats not recognised here, must be, but we cant install it with the cdrom of the cisco card, so i dont thing it is the cisco card?
I just got my dell dimension 2400 up n running again.

2) I need internet connectability i have a working att wireless router brand new just got delivered today and i have a d link wireless reciever thing i just got from my buddy but how to get the internet up n running without boring holes in the floor / wall or dragging a cable 18 miles from the router to the computer so i need it to be wireless
3) I am not sure what to do with it do i just need soft ware updates or do i need hardware updates to get it up to speed with the so called "big boys even though its far larger than any laptop my goal is to have a fast running internet capable game capable and multitasking computer with which i can do.
