Linux Mint 10 Won't Detect WiFi Hub
Feb 27, 2011I recently installed Linux Mint 10 (Julia). Having found the network options, it seems unable to find my BTHomeHub2, although Windows 7 finds it perfectly well with 5 bars.Interestingly, the network icon in Linux only shows VPN connections and Wired connections, no wireless section. My computer is a Medion Akoya E4120 D with a Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter. The wireless adapter is inside the PC, attached to an internal USB port I'm guessing.So all in all, how do I get my wireless internet to work with Linux Mint 10?

3) I am not sure what to do with it do i just need soft ware updates or do i need hardware updates to get it up to speed with the so called "big boys even though its far larger than any laptop my goal is to have a fast running internet capable game capable and multitasking computer with which i can do.

So i was going to install it on a rack in my server cabinet. does the server need to have a wan port and a lan port? Or how does the server get connected? So, so far its the cable modem into the clear os firewall and then into my switch. Is is possible to use the clear os server as the dhcp server for the whole house? Nov 1, 2012A N600 Router Model F9J1102v1 router first installed in July 2012 with WPA-PSK, MAC Address Filtering and "Self Healing" enabled would not allow a new PC to connect via an RJ45 port. Belkin support ask for the unit to be reset to factory settings which is done and the Security system re-enabled again. Valid MAC Addresses start to be added and midway a PC is discovered in the Network without its MAC address added. Closer scrutiny reveals that another unknown device has also found a way into the router and that the 'Block' option on the MAC list is also failing to work. Anyone think of what one should do with this security shambles other than turn the thing off quick?

Apr 22, 2012I am using Scientific Linux 6.2 (Variant of RHEL / CentOS) . Every day at a particular time there is a power outage at my place, and after 1 hour power is restored. My laptop is connected to a network switch, that has no Backup power, and connection is disconnected when power is gone. Laptop keeps running in battery power.
Now when power is restored, the ethernet connection (eth0) is not automatically restored in linux. It only says connection available under wired connection. The same thing happens to the Wireless Network Connections. What can I do to automatically connect to these networks, whenever they are available?

May 6, 2012I'm having trouble getting my Ubuntu 10.04 machine (Sony Vaio VGN-SR490) to connect to the Internet by way of an Ethernet cable connected directly to my router. I'm able to connect to the Internet using this same cable using a Windows machine, so there's something wrong with the way Linux is configured.
Here are my network settings on Linux:

It looks like the network adapters list is empty. I will now install both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux dual-boot. I'm still not able to access the internet, even through Windows. I'm wonder if this could be a hardware problem with the computer or a problem with the router itself. Other computers can connect to this same router, and work fine.

To mitigate that we use vmware and run Windows XP at the same time as our Windows 7 systems. I'd love to be able to use remote desktop though and connect to a system located elsewhere even another office computer and have that one on the VPN, but of course as soon you connect the remote desktop connection goes down with it.I'm just wondering if there's any ways around this. I'm assuming not, but I'm not sure how VPN fully works. Like if I had 2 network cards in the remote system, when I VPN in does it block connections from all network cards? Ideally I'd like to use something like Amazon Web Services since their Windows Server tier has the free option which is good, or will use another VPS type system running Windows Server.

Nov 5, 2012I am using Win XP and am hardwired to a router (NETGEAR N600 WIRELESS DUAL BAND ROUTER WNDR3400). This was connected hardwire to a cable modem and I had no problems. I recently downgraded to a DSL system and now have problems connecting to the internet. I was asked to disconnect my router and the problem seems to go away. After reconnecting my router it may be fine for a day or two and then the problems start again. Internet drops off while using it or I get a message saying "web page not available because DNS lookup failed. If I bypass my router at this time I can connect. Both my laptop (wireless) and my desktop (Ethernet) are having this problem.Norton Connect Safe is also in use which assigns its own DNS addresses.
