View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two Windows 7 Ultimate computers and around 10 Windows XP (Home and Professional, SP2 and SP3) computers trying to connect to it. It's just a LAN (no internet access).I have set all of the password-protected sharing off on the Win 7 systems. I have tried opening up ALL of the permissions and such (since security is not really an issue). When I try to map the network drive, it won't let me merely connect to it. So, I have to click map network drive on the XP computer and hit "login with other credentials" and enter the username/pass for the user account on the Win 7 machine (we'll say Bob for user and Smith for password for the sake of example). It will mount the share (which is actually the C: root of the drive) just fine.
The only problem is the moment you restart the Windows XP system, it will lose the connection. My fix for it was to create a .bat file that contained the following: [code] I put it in the Progam FilesStartup folder to run upon boot. For the most part, it seems to work after a fashion. Some of the computers, though, will drop the connection to the two Windows 7 systems and need to be rebooted 1-2 times before they get it back again. Even clicking the .bat file manually will have the same result (you will have to reboot) if it drops the connection while you're using it. Plus, sometimes it doesn't map the drive correctly (I assume because the batch file is running before the connection has a chance to initialize on the LAN).I've also tried adding an "Everybody" user to the permissions on the Win 7 systems with full access, but it only seemed to cause problems with the existing connections. It might also be prudent to mention that both the Windows 7 and Windows XP systems are all 32 bit. I've also disabled the firewalls on the two Windows 7 systems. Neither of them have any antivirus or security software installed.
I have two Win XP machines and a Linux Mint. I can access the shared folders of my Win machines from Linux but Win machines, in the Workgroup, shows the Linux connection as "MyMint server (Samba, Linux Mint)(MyMint)" but I can't access files on that machine. "MyMint" is the computer name.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have between 8 and 10 computers on my home LAN. They are split between the default workgroup name 'WORKGROUP' and the name I have assigned to my home LAN.There is a mixture of Win XP, Win 7 32 & 64 and various levels of Ubuntu.
After 6 long days of trying I have made not one step forward in allowing file/printer sharing. The Windows machines are all running Comodo Internet Security, on one of which I have created my idea of a set of rules to allow file/print sharing. The Windows XP machine, with a user created set of firewall rules, can see no computers on the network (using My Network Places), aside from itself and the shares created on it.It cannot see the computers which are not in the workgroup.
The most common error message this computer generates is 'network path not found'. A win 7 32 bit computer, in the workgroup, can see all other computers that are in the workgroup, including itself, twice. It cannot access any shares on the Linux computers. It is able to access shares on the Windows XP computer.ufw Firewall is installed and enabled on one Linux machine and has a vaguely similar set of file/print sharing rules. That machine can see nothing at the Network place.A couple of hours ago it could see the machines that are NOT in my workgroup but could not see the machines that are!
Another linux computer can see the two workgroups (named and default) within the windows network, but cannot browse either workgroup. The most common error message from sharing attempts with the Linux machines is 'unable to mount location. Failed to retrieve share list from server'.Right now I am reduced to transferring USB sticks between adjacent computers....
I recently acquired a 2509 router that I plan to use as a serial device router. My question is, how do you create the virtual com ports on Windows and Linux machines to point to the TCP address:ports in the 2509 router? Is there software or drivers that do this? Or something third-party?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a dedicated server "out there".They dont provide any OS media to install and use your licence key (obviously).I have a licence and my own DVD/ISO. I can use that, its not a problem. The issue is, I do have IP KVM/IPMI (I think that is what its called) and I can install the OS through that and mount the ISO. Problem is that it will take literally forever to install because my net connection is very poor (< 1MB upload)Is there a faster way to install Windows over the web in this situation? How can I make it "better" in this circumstance?now should I ever get the OS installed in this way, in future if I need to unfortunately wipe and start again, how can I make it a more quick process?

I downloaded the AnyConnect software for my Android Samsung Galaxy S3 and I can connect to my LAN and the internet via the AnyConnect software from my phone when off site so that is working properly. My questions has to to with regular computer clients. What do I need to install on my Win 7 laptop that will allow me to tunnel into my 550? If I just put in the IP address in a webrowser [URL] I get this: "The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client is required to connect to the SSLVPN server. Please contact the site administrator to obtain the VPN client." I also see a lot of talk about "clientless" VPN. Is that also possible with the ISA550?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi am experiencing some sort of issue with my Ethernet Controller. About an hour ago i had run a diagnostic report, (using my Norton 360 security program) while i scrolled down the report i came across an orange attention bubble that read "Inoperable Hardware Devices" then a chart lists hardware devices that aren't working, it looked like this:
Data Type Device Problem/ Description
-Device Type -Ethernet Controller
- Device Status -Device Drivers are not installed
(Code 28).
i tried to update the device but it doesn't work, it says that "windows was unable to install Ethernet Controller, ...Windows could not find driver software for your device"
