Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Port Forward To Broadcast For WOL?

Jan 25, 2011

Some routers are able to forward to broadcast directly by sending a port to 192.168.1.255, other's I've been able to trick by forwarding to 192.168.1.254 and then editing the arp table with 192.168.1.254 <-> ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff. Is there any way I can edit the arp table of the E4200? Is there a way to telnet in or get a console connection?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 / Open Nat / Port Forward Xbox?

Aug 13, 2012

I'm using Cisco Connect Cloud to connect to my E4200 router. I wish to open my NAT type as currently its moderate on all games.Where the hell is the area to add the port ranges?? Is it even an option on the new connect cloud? If it is, it doesn't make it very easy to find. Would be allot easier if you had a tab/app for "Gaming/Applications" like you did previously.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Media Server - Certain Files Cannot Properly Parse

Jul 18, 2011

I decided to play around a little more with the media server feature... I've succeeded in getting SOMETHING consistent out of the 1.0.02 firmware. It's not 100% useful.

Here's what I did - whether it's pertinent, who knows:

1) I made the Media Server "Name" completely unique. My router's name was "Penguin" and that seemed to proliferate throughout the settings on the router everywhere (SMB server name, FTP, Media Server, etc.). I decided to just call the media server "Server." I then checked the option to DISABLE the server, and saved settings.

2) With the Media Server OFF, browse to the share on the USB drive, and completely delete the T wonky folder.

3) On the Media Server page of the router config, add your media sources.

4) Enable the Media Server, save, and you'll then see the T wonky folder come back, and if you go into that folder, you'll see some files being "built."

I tested a few videos and some music with the XBMC media player on my Mac book and a Windows 7 PC. I was able to add music and video sources on my small selection of test music and videos. I was also able to play them. MP3 tags and embedded artwork showed up properly, and the streaming over wireless was very good.

Now... Here's the kicker. This was just a VERY small sample of my entire collection. I had about 5 albums in MP3 format on the drive, and about 10 movies that I personally converted to MP4 with Handbrake (ripped each movie to about 1.4gb). When I threw my entire 90gb music collection on the drive and told it to scan (it, being the router Media Server page), it seemed to populate the albums up to a certain point, and then crashed. I saw the data files in the T wonky folder getting larger for about 5 minutes, then it stopped growing. At that same time, XBMC wasn't able to see any music or videos. Even after turning off the media server, then re-enabling it, I wasn't able to see anything. If I deleted the T wonky folder, and went back to a smaller subset of my collection, it once again worked "reliably."

So, one of several things is happening here.

1) There are certain files the media server cannot properly parse, and it's crashing the services that run it.
2) Something is corrupting the media database files which then prevents it from showing up.
3) There's a maximum number of files or file size that your collection can be.

If only there was a syslog we could get to on the stock firmware...  Linksys.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Getting DHCP Reservation To Work Properly With Windows 7 Machine

Jun 7, 2011

I have the e4200 and I am having trouble getting DHCP reservation to work properly with my Windows 7 machines. Perhaps there is a step that I am missing. Basically I go to the DHCP reservation setup page, select my machine and add it to the reservation table. Then I save the changes. As soon as I do this my computer goes offline. If I reboot my machine, it is still offline. I've tried the same procedure to reserve the IP address for my phone and it works fine so I wonder if the problem is with Win7.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Firmware Upgrade Failed?

Aug 24, 2011

I just bought a Cisco E4200 (from someone on Ebay, so returning is probably not an option).  I was in the process of setting it up when it wanted to do a Router Update.  Unfortunately, it did not specifically say to not do it WIRELESS.  We had a disconnection in the upgrade process.  Now the Power light just blinks.  I can ping it from a hard-wired PC, but cannot get to the Administration Web page to retry the firmware update (I did download it from the site).  Also Cisco Connect cannot connect to the router.

Oh Yes, I have tried holding reset button for 30 seconds, unplugging for 30 seconds, and replugging in the router.  I do not get any different results.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Port 80 Forward Fails

Sep 2, 2011

I encounter a problem setting up port 80 forwarding on WRT54g router.

Configuration:

- Numericable modem

- WRT54G router : portforwarding configured, accepting anonymous internet traffic, no DMZ, no port-triggering... in fact everything is fine except for ports 80/443

- Linux Ubuntu server + Apache2 listening *:80 and/or *:15001

1/ Situation 1: Apache listening on server's *:15001

-> Accessing from Internet (outside LAN) works very fine.

-> Portforwarding of router:15001 to server:15001 (TCP) works fine.

2/ Situation 2: Apache listening on server *:80

-> Accessing from Internet (outside LAN) FAILS.

-> Portforwarding of router:80 to server:80 (TCP) doesn't work. Diagnostic using the client machine's firewall tool showed the request doesn't get any return... no traffic back at all.

The system being fully operational when using port:15001 shows the problem does not come from server configuration.I still have to try a bypass of my router by plugging the modem directly on the server eth card.

-> If that works it would definitely prove the problem comes from the router, precisely the portforwarding feature as applied to port:80.

My guess is the following:

- As WRT54g router's remote administration interface is precisely set to listen 80/443 ports.

- As I still did not disable remote administration as I need it, but I will come to such extremities (very soon in fact as despair is gaining me

- Looks like WRT54g is unable to forward port 80 as this is it's remote administration port. You can set it up, but it just won't work, and there's no warning

Solutions?

- Disable remote administration? (will it work ? cause I would not risk to disable it for nothing...)

- Have remote administration litening on different ports than 80/443?

- Is my diagnostic correct ? (at least, does it seems to be...)

- (shall I get another device? Update to alternative firmware project?)

PS : I could be asked for ifconfig/netstats/hdw-fmw version, I would post later as I do not have access now.Looks like to me it is recurrent issue on WRT54g (maybe I'm wrong and just an **bleep** in LAN/WAN configuration which is highly possible)

Routers / Switches :: Linksys E3000 Router Will Not Forward Port 443

Dec 20, 2011

I attached an Iomego Home Media network hard drive to my Linksys E3000 router (via ethernet cable). Before setting up the remote access on the Iomega, I forwarded the ports that it wanted (443 and 21) to the static IP of the Iomega. I checked to see that they were open using yougetsignal.com and they were both open. After setting up the remote access on the Iomega, the 443 port closed and I cant even get into the "manage storage device" page for the Iomega. Iomega uses TZo for the domain names. They tell me that the association is made between the name and my public IP address. My router is out of warranty since Sept, so Linksys wont give me the time of day. I contacted my ISP and while they block a couple of ports, 443 is not one of them.I've installed the latest firmware (1.0.04 - Build 6). Reset and rebooted numerous times, Port 443 remains closed.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Port Forwarding On TCP / 80 And 443

Aug 31, 2012

I'm a happy user of the E4200 for a few weeks now, and all in all it's a very robust and useful router.Within my network I have a webserver running using both HTTP (TCP 80) and HTTPS (TCP 443). I want to make this webserver available to the internet and so I configure port forwarding to forward port TCP 80 and TCP 443 to my internal webserver. As soon as I now apply these settings, I loose connection to the webinterface of the E4200 and get connected to my internal webserver. I would expect the router would only forward connections coming in through the external interface of the router, however this is apparently not the case (or at least not in my setup). So I tried setting up remote management on a different port to at least allow me to remotely manage the router, but this does not work from my internal network.

Right now, I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, or have miss-configured something. Is it possible to switch the webadmin port to a different port (like 8080 and 8443)?
