Nov 9, 2012I have a virtual machine running in my desktop which connected on the gigabit lan port on EA4500 with firmware 2.0.37.What I want to be able to do forward a port that came from an external ipv4 address to the ipv6 address and a different port to my virtual machine (to remote desktop port 3389).The reason I want to convert the traffic to ipv6 is because virtual machine is running vpn and is not reacheable through ipv4 (unless bunch of routes are setup and things get complicated etc). I verified my phsical server and virtual server get both ipv6 ip addresses through ipv6 tunnel from comcast. Without tunneling I could not get ipv6 setup using automatic mode with comcast, it simply did not work for some reason.

Aug 15, 2012I understand you can't assign an IPv4 Address to a "port". But here's my issue. I have two network cables attached to a managed switch, the location of the two cables are very important. Two computers attached to the said cables.I would like to communicate with one of the computers on PORT 1 and PORT 2, regardless of what computer is plugged into them. They get there IP's via DHCP, and a static IP wont work - as the computer plugged into PORT 1 or 2 may be different.So. I have two ports on the switch that I always want to communicate with the computer on the other end. But I don't (will not) always know the IP address of the computer(s) connected.

Save changes and i get a changes save message. When the browser goes back to the applications/gaming screen no port shows as being forwarded. They provide the router, and register that router to their access list.I'm not very happy with the router they provided, so I'm planning to buy a E1200 and clone my current router's MAC address. But when I checked the interface of this router, the mac cloning page has a button saying "Clone my PC's MAC". And in the FAQ page of E1200 it says that the router can automatically capture the MAC address of the PC. Which is not what I want to do.I want to manually input my older router's MAC address into this router to clone it.

Sep 2, 2011I encounter a problem setting up port 80 forwarding on WRT54g router.
Configuration:
- Numericable modem
- WRT54G router : portforwarding configured, accepting anonymous internet traffic, no DMZ, no port-triggering... in fact everything is fine except for ports 80/443
- Linux Ubuntu server + Apache2 listening *:80 and/or *:15001
1/ Situation 1: Apache listening on server's *:15001
-> Accessing from Internet (outside LAN) works very fine.
-> Portforwarding of router:15001 to server:15001 (TCP) works fine.
2/ Situation 2: Apache listening on server *:80
-> Accessing from Internet (outside LAN) FAILS.
-> Portforwarding of router:80 to server:80 (TCP) doesn't work. Diagnostic using the client machine's firewall tool showed the request doesn't get any return... no traffic back at all.
The system being fully operational when using port:15001 shows the problem does not come from server configuration.I still have to try a bypass of my router by plugging the modem directly on the server eth card.
-> If that works it would definitely prove the problem comes from the router, precisely the portforwarding feature as applied to port:80.
My guess is the following:
- As WRT54g router's remote administration interface is precisely set to listen 80/443 ports.
- As I still did not disable remote administration as I need it, but I will come to such extremities (very soon in fact as despair is gaining me
- Looks like WRT54g is unable to forward port 80 as this is it's remote administration port. You can set it up, but it just won't work, and there's no warning
Solutions?
- Disable remote administration? (will it work ? cause I would not risk to disable it for nothing...)
- Have remote administration litening on different ports than 80/443?
- Is my diagnostic correct ? (at least, does it seems to be...)
- (shall I get another device? Update to alternative firmware project?)
PS : I could be asked for ifconfig/netstats/hdw-fmw version, I would post later as I do not have access now.Looks like to me it is recurrent issue on WRT54g (maybe I'm wrong and just an **bleep** in LAN/WAN configuration which is highly possible)

Apr 9, 2013Reset to factory defaults. DHCP turned on. Status page shows black for router IP, gateway, and DNS addresses. Powered router+cable modem on/off multiple times already. I also have another wifi router (WRT120N) and it works fine.
Pretty simple connection. Just a ethernet cable between the cable modem and E1200 internet port (Cable modem <---> E1200)

Sep 19, 2011I have a question about the function of an E1200 relative to a WRT54G. We currently have the 54G plugged into our LAN, the Ethernet cable plugged into one of the Ethernet ports, not the Internet port, on the back. It is giving wireless clients IP addresses according to our main LAN DHCP, as if they were hard-wired which is correct. Bad thing is, I have no idea what IP address is/was assigned to the 54G itself as it was not logged when done, way before my time. I cannot log into it and take a look at its settings and attempt to mimic what is going on in there on something like an E1200.
Therin lies my next questions. What could be occurring on the 54G that is enabling it to dish out like a WAP and does the E1200 support WAP function? If not, which models do that can be added to the 54G?

Conversely, if I set up single port forwarding for each of the ports in the range for the same computer then I am able to access from outside my LAN. Does port range forwarding actually work?

Apr 24, 2012I have been asked to "forward a port on an ASA 5505 to an internal ip address." Sounds easy for most of you, and I thought I did it right, but I am not certain. Basically, they want it set up so that when xx.xx.xx.xx:30000 (x's = the firewall ip with port 30000) is accessed from outside, it is forwarded to an internal ip on port 30000 (xxx.xxx.x.xxx:30000)
Here is what I tried from within ASDM 6.4:
1. NAT Rules-add static NAT route:
original-Interface: inside
-Source: xx.xx.xx.xx (local ip of computer on LAN they wish to access from outside)
Translated - Interface - Use Interface IP Address
Enable PAT: Original and Translated port both set to 30000
2. Access Rule - add
Interface: Inside
Source: any
Destination: xx.xx.xx.xx (IP of Firewall)
Service: tcp/30000

Jul 12, 2012I recently installed a First Alert Security System and assigned IP address to the DVR but within the DHCP (After reading many threads, I will asssign, ping and create a static IP outside of the DHCP, maybe this will resolve the issue). I am able to view the cameras on my iPhone and HP Laptop but only internally on my network. I am trying to port forward my DVR IP address to be able to view the cameras on a public website. Although I am going to chcek and see if assigning an IP to my DVR outside of the DHCP and hopefully this will be it, I am afraid that my CradelPoint CRT 500 Modem will not support it. I read on one thread that this is a common issue after you have exhausted all the options. How can I be sure that my modem supports that my router port forwards? I want to avoid configuring to run in bridged or pass-through mode.

Feb 23, 2013I have a camera connected to the router. IP address 192.168.1.145(static). It responds on port 7654. The camera connected either wired(if connected) or wireless otherwise using the same IP and port. the camera responds correctly on both wired and wireless from a LAN connected computer. If I try to connected via the Internet, camera will only respond if connected via a wire; i.e. the port forwarding is not forwarding internet requests on port 7654 to a wirless IP address, but will to a wired IP address. It has worked in the past, so the router seems to be capable of routing requests to the wireless LAN. Either I have changed some setting (unlikely as have reloaded saved configuration) or it is a hardware error in the router. Have had previous problems with the router which neccessitated a full reboot/reset to clear. Guessing there was some problem making the router run out of memory. Response to the configuration setup pages can be slow, and some (DHCP list and access policy) on occasions are just not responded to(AP) or not complete(DHCP - page opened but no data shown)

All this box really does is port forward external clients to 1 address on the internal lan for client software updates. Any example configs?
So lets say we have client a with IP 1.1.1.1 and client b has 2.2.2.2 - at the moment this is what happens client a and b come in through http and get mapped to the internal http server 10.10.1.2
So I need to setup about 100 clients which can come in through http only - get mapped to the internal IP and also keeping the internal server to be able to access anything outside.
Routers / Switches :: Linksys E3000 Router Will Not Forward Port 443
Dec 20, 2011I attached an Iomego Home Media network hard drive to my Linksys E3000 router (via ethernet cable). Before setting up the remote access on the Iomega, I forwarded the ports that it wanted (443 and 21) to the static IP of the Iomega. I checked to see that they were open using yougetsignal.com and they were both open. After setting up the remote access on the Iomega, the 443 port closed and I cant even get into the "manage storage device" page for the Iomega. Iomega uses TZo for the domain names. They tell me that the association is made between the name and my public IP address. My router is out of warranty since Sept, so Linksys wont give me the time of day. I contacted my ISP and while they block a couple of ports, 443 is not one of them.I've installed the latest firmware (1.0.04 - Build 6). Reset and rebooted numerous times, Port 443 remains closed.
