My situation before I bought the router:
- my Internet speed is 120/20 (Mbps download / Mbps upload)
- speed test with my ISP gives 125/20 for 99% of the tests- speed test with [URL] gives 125/20 for 99% of the tests
- I never have had a router; my PC is connected directly to the cable modem
- My ISP is Vidéotron from Quebec in Canada : [URL]
My new situation with the new router :
- last Tuesday, I bought the router Cisco Linksys E4200
- the installation went fine and Internet works well
- during the installation process, the firmware is upgraded to 1.0.03
- speed test with my ISP gives 100/20 for 99% of the tests
- speed test with [URL] gives 100/20 for 99% of the tests
My observations :
- according to router status port, Internet port is 1 Gbps
- according to router status port, port 1 (where my PC is connected) is 1 Gbps
- it seems that speed cannot get more than 100/20 with the new router
- when I disconnect the router and I reconnect my PC directly to the modem cable, I still get 125/20
Calling Cisco support :
- Many tests are done during 3 chat sessions
- The speed is still 100/20
- The recommendation is to replace the router with a new one
Friend support :
- A friend of mine brought his router which is the same as mine- The speed is still 100/20 with his router
New router :
- As recommended by Cisco support, I got the router replaced from the store.
- I installed the new router
- During the installation process, the firmware is not upgraded; the firmware is 1.0.01
- The speed is now 125/20
- I upgraded the firmware to 1.0.03
- The speed is now 120/20
- I downgraded the firmware to 1.0.01
- The speed is now 125/20
Conclusion :
- My speed is maximized at 100/20 with the firmware 1.0.03
- I will stay with firmware 1.0.01 until firmware1.0.03 is corrected.
If I connect wire directely to the PC Ethernet port the Internet speed is about 400 Mbit/sec (speedtest.net)When my PC is connected through the Linksys E4200 Internet speed is not above 90 Mbit/sec.
There is a new firmware for the E4200 router and I have no clue how to get the file. I've been searching in the support section » download tab without success. Any link to the new firmware how to get it?
I was looking for alternative firmwares until Linksys fixes their broken device. What do you guys make of this Tomato firmware? Do you think it has usb drive and Media Streaming (Twonky) support?
The file uploads fine, but I get an error message saying the router can't be updated atthe moment. I want to do the update because as of now, the router can't see my drive connected on usb (one ntfs partition and another one called wbfs, maybe that one is causing the issue about the drive).
I currently have Model name: Linksys E4200 Firmware version: 1.0.04 build 11 Software version: 1.4.12100.0
I'm trying to upgrade to the second and most up to date version. (Version: 2.0) firmware. Any links or way to do this? I tried doing it through my router settings under administration -> firmware upgrade but it won't update automatically. I have to find the actual update file and update the firmware through that.
Nom du modèle : Linksys E4200Numéro de modèle : E4200Numéro de série : 01C10C17152754Version du microcode (firmware) : 1.0.03 build 14OS : Windows 8Version du logiciel : 1.4.12284.0Type de connexion (réseau étendu) : DHCPAdresse IP (réseau local) : 192.168.0.1Adresse IP (réseau étendu) : 192.168.1.101Adresse IP de l'ordinateur : 192.168.0.135
I downloaded this file :[URL]I upgraded it, I typed 192, etc. in firefox, when to the maintenance tab, put the dowloaded file in "new firmware location" and clicked "update". It said: "you put a wrong file".this is written in the same tab : Current Firmware Version 6.0.0 Build 100906 Rel.43560
I am waiting for half year. And I read the forum know the NAT though put perfromance of 1.0.01 is poor than that of 1.0.03 of E4200.Actually a bit disappoint to CISCO LINKSYS products. It is not value to cost high selling price with poor functions and performance.
I have a problem with new E4200 WAN speed. I have 1Gb connection from my ISP, and my old Netgear router gives me about 350 Mbps WAN speed, but with new E4200 I only got 110 Mbps max download speed.Cisco live support tried suggested to change MTU from Auto to 1400 (and try different wlan channels, even that I don't use wlan). This MTU size change makes no difference with WAN speed. I have latest firmaware installed, router reseted several times, tried different cables etc. Also with same cable sets my old Netgear still gives about 3 times better WAN speed.WAN port (and all LAN ports) seems to negotiated at 1000 Mbps at both ONT (optical network terminal) and Linksys settings page, but unfortanately there is no way to change the setting from auto to manual at E4200 settings (and it is not possible to change any settings of ONT by user). I was thinking that if somehow it won't auto negotiate properly (even if the setting page says its ok) but maybe it actually negotiated 100 Mbps port to WAN.
Had E4200 for several months worked great. The last 3 weeks speed drops intermittently through the day.Up graded to latest firm way yesterday 11-10-11 still have the issue, i.e. first thing this am had 15mbps and 1 hour later was below 1mbps. Have not added anything new equipment or software wise in the house during this time.
Just purchased the new E4200 v2 device, 1 day of testing on different modes give me that:Direct connection without router: urls....Changing Qos didn't work at all.Testing on Ver.2.0.37.131047. Cisco what's up with you?
i have installed a e4200 with a computer connected by Wiffi N300 and two nas connected by Gb LAN. When i copy files from nas to computer or computer to nas the speed is limited between 3 and 7 Mo/s.If i do same whis a Gb switch the speed is up to 30Mo/s.
link to the original v1.0.0 firmware for the E4200. That was the best firmware for me and sadly I can't find a link to go back. v1.0.0 really had no problems for me. I initially skipped v1.0.1 becuase it disabled IPv6 which is a feature I want. v1.0.2 broke my YouTube and Netflix streaming. So I went back to v1.0.1 and my Netflix and YouTubue steaming returned to normal but I lost IPv6.
Any solution to Netflix and YouTube streaming problem on v1.0.2 when IPv6 is configured. (I'm positive the video is streaming over IPv4, but the IPv6 connectivity is available.)
I had a e4200,and i used 5ghz wireless.i can't set it to channel 149 or other high channel,my old wireless ethernet card can only support that.make the next version of the firmware can setting 5ghz channel to channel 149、153、157、161.
I cannot connect to my company’s VPN after installing the current firmware (FW_E4200_1.0.02.013_US_20110524) on my E4200 router. Version 1.0.01 was on the router when I received it, and it worked without issues. As soon as I upgraded version 02, I could not initialize a VPN connection. When I try to start a VPN session, I get a "page not found" error when attempting to initiate SSL VPN service using a Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway. VPN pass through is enabled for all protocols in the e4200’s setup. As soon as I revert to firmware 01, everything works fine again.
I did a fresh download and re-flashed the 02 firmware just to make sure that it wasn’t an issue with a bad download or a faulty flash. The problem is consistent and repeatable. I have upgraded and downgraded twice, and the results are exactly the same. My VPN connection works with firmware 01, and it fails with version 02. There is a something different in the 02 firmware that is blocking VPN access.
I've tried to upgrade/downgrade process twice with the same result. After few days without any issue 2.1.39.145204 gets stuck (=routing to internet doesn't work although I can ping from wireless network to all LAN IPs) and I need to reboot the router.
I have about 7 devices. Guest network is disabled, parental control is disabled, USB is not used, DHCP service is used, WPA2 mixed personal mode is used, MAC filtering is disabled, DMZ is disabled, DDNS is disabled, port triggering is not used. All the rest of settings are in default values.
As far as I notied the previous version 2.1.39.144146 doesn't get stuck at all.
I am unable to connect both of my smart phones to the access point. I am using WPA2 encryption on the AP. I can connect my phones to other AP's using WPA2. I have other devices that connect to the AP except my Android phones. I would like to be able to get some debug logs except the web interface says that the logging fictions are disabled when in bridge mode. Cisco/Linksys tech support: Any troubleshooting tips other than resetting the access point and or reflashing it.
I've assigned an ip address to my htpc using dhcp reservation. On my old router I could use the client name, for instance: ssh name@clientName Instead of: ssh name@ipAddress Currently I cannot do this with the stock cisco firmware (unless I'm mistaken). Is there something I have to do to get it working? Or do I have to resort to tomatoUSB/WRT.
I just bought a Cisco E4200 (from someone on Ebay, so returning is probably not an option). I was in the process of setting it up when it wanted to do a Router Update. Unfortunately, it did not specifically say to not do it WIRELESS. We had a disconnection in the upgrade process. Now the Power light just blinks. I can ping it from a hard-wired PC, but cannot get to the Administration Web page to retry the firmware update (I did download it from the site). Also Cisco Connect cannot connect to the router.
Oh Yes, I have tried holding reset button for 30 seconds, unplugging for 30 seconds, and replugging in the router. I do not get any different results.
I just upgraded my E4200v1 router to a new EA4500. The install process went fine and I'm running firmware 2.0.37.When I was running the E4200v1, I had wireless speeds of 24-30mbs. Since upgrading to the EA4500, I only have 5-8mbs wireless speed.
My transfer speed from HDD which connected to linksys e4200 reach max 2,3MB/s how it is possible to watch fullHD movie if its required minimum 5MB/s? Maybe I should make some adjustments? HDD-WD My Passport 750Gb Also connection speed max reach 144mb/s?? how to make 300mb/s ? wifi adapter is Intel advanced N + WiMax 6250 AGN last driver installed, also E4200 last firmware installed 1.0.0.2 all settings by default Max download speed 75Mb/s by utorrent but provider gives 100Mb/s By cable its ok, max speed 100Mb/s as giving provider
Can I do this with a E4200? I want to do this for gaming reasons, and I mainly want to slow my speed down. I currently have my console hard wired to the router. I have accessed the firmware for the router but don't see how to change speeds.
I have brand new Cisco E4200 and WD Passport 500Gb.When it connected to router wireless (802.11n 300Mbit/sec) file transfer speed is around terrible 3 MB/sec. Same hard drive directly connected to my Mac Book Pro Unibody produce 30MB/sec. However my internet connection thru the router fairly shows 12MB/sec.It sounds funny, but for me is 4 times faster to download file from the Web rather the from hard dive that I'm holding in my hand.
I recently bought an E4200 and noticed that the wireless speed keeps dropping as it stays connected. As soon as I power it on, my iPhone and notebook connect at 54Mb, but as they remain connected, the speed keeps dropping to 48, 36 and one morning, my phone was oscillating between 5 and 11. The iPhone was almost at the same spot, and the signal was around 85~95%. On my 3 year old DIR-300, the speed don't change at all, and it's in a place where I can see around 15 connections. On the E4200 I can only see 2 other networks.I've already tried switching channels, fixed and auto channel, updating firmware and a few other common configurations. At first, I thought it was my repeater, but I turned it off and it didn't work. Turn my cordless phone off didn't change it also.
I usually download and update on my Nas in my house. I conneting my nas to the e4200. My laptop get full wifi from my router, but the speed up and down is very slow. I setup the wireless everything is auto.
I think i make big mistake to update E4200 firmware from 1.0.00 to 1.0.04.My ISP speed is 300 then i connect pc.Download Speed: 299.22 mbps (37.4 MB/sec transfer rate)Upload Speed: 267.63 mbps (33.5 MB/sec transfer rate)Then connect E4200 With 1.0.00 firmware speed is ~200.But now firmware is 1.0.04 and speed only 100Download Speed: 103.43 mbps (12.9 MB/sec transfer rate)Upload Speed: 101.88 mbps (12.7 MB/sec transfer rate.
After an indeterminate period my E4200 (firmware version 1.0.03) stops renewing the Internet IP address. This happens in both router mode and bridge mode.In router mode the E4200 is set for DHCP and connected to the cable modem, in bridge mode it is connected to a Dell switch with DHCP being provided by my Win2008R2 server. It appears that the device stops recognizing the existence of the Internet port - no lights come on when a cable is plugged in - whether connected to the cable modem or my Dell switch. Plugging the same cable into one of the 4 lan ports and that port lights up immediately (i.e. it is not a patch cable problem). If the E4200 is left switched off for some time (possibly days) it will work properly again for a while.
The device has been trying for days to auto-download and all it does is fail constantly. Saying that my connection is slow - gee, I have FiOS, I know it's not slow, maybe it's your Servers Cisco?Well, where can I obtain the direct DL link to that firmware file instead of relying on an unreliable device to get it and apply for me?
I have an E4200 router with 3 WET610N access points. I did the firmware update on the E4200 router about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away. Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop. A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152. Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.
I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2. The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless. This only happened since the firmware update. And this equipment was working fine before this. Is there a way I can restore the previous version of firmware?
I have a new E4200 with the latest firmware and my slingbox seems to not be playing nice with the router. It refuses to take the IP I reserved for the SB, but always defaults to 192.168.2.254. I use a 2 subnet just in case you're wondering. I have tried multiple reboots and the IP does not change. I have tried turning off UPNP, figuring that was hijacking the dhcp server, but that hasn't changed anything. I also notice that a few of my connected devices do not show up in the dhcp list, yet they connect and work ok.
