View 3 RepliesWell, I have a WRT120N Router for 11 months to now. I never had a problem with the Router, but since 2 days ago, It didnt connect to the internet.
My network is: Internet > Cable Modem > WRT120N > Computers
As I said, the problem is that the Router doesnt has Internet Connection.
Things to take in consideration: The Cable MODEM ISN'T the problem Because if i connect the modem directly to a computer, I have Internet connection without problems.I Diconnected and Connected both Modem and Router in several ways and several times, and it doesnt work.I also tryed clonning my PCs MAC address to the Router and it was the same. The Router Indeed receives the External IP Address from the Modem, and also, it changes if i restart the modem (as my ISP IP is DHCP). But there is NO internet conection. The Router had the 1.0.05 Firmware, and i upgraded to 1.0.06, and the problem persists. Another thing to take in account is that if I turn off my modem and the I turn it On, sometimes, the router receives Internet connection, but in matter of Seconds (minutes as much), the internet connection falls.
This is NOT an ISP problem, because as I said, if I connect the Modem Directly to any PC, i have a perfectly normal Internet Connection, And also, I called my ISP and they Said me that there werent any problem on their network.
I have also tryed with the "Router Dianostics" (the Ping and Traceroute options that are in the Router's Webend and also, no conection. So its NOT a Cables problem.
I have a Linksys E1000 router just upgrade to the latest 2.1.0.2 firmware...I have a PPPoE connection which used to run smoothly on the router..however off late...suddenly the router stopped connecting..it always shows "connecting" in the status tab of the router page...and eventually says failed to obtain IP address...however when I attach the cable directly into my PC it works just fine.I also had a word with my internet provider...he's kept the MAC open (or something like that) so he said that isn't the issue and he keeps saying there must be some issue with the router. However, occasionally the router DOES connect for half hour or so and then just refuses to connect again !..
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently, after a few hours my laptop suddently loses connection to the router and from then it keeps connecting and loosing the connection for a few hours. Sometimes it connects successfuly .This happens while my other pc, connected by cable to the router, works perfectly. The next day i open the laptop the internet works fine.I noticed ,when i had another router, that the laptop often had problems connecting to it while my pc was working. It would connect a lot slower after i would reset the router.I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on both.
View 3 Replies View RelatedToday i just brought Diablo 3, played it but i started to get disconnected from the server.(i know this sounds like a game issue but it is not) So i got bored from it and shut it down. No sooner did i do that my internet started to disconnect on me. i mean that one min it is working the next it is not. then i worked fine for a bit. But about 30 after it stopped my wifi router stopped connecting to the web, I tried to reset it multiple times but to no avail. I though it was my modem but i plugged in an old router i have and it connects with no problems. so those facts leave me to think there is something wrong with my wifi router. i had a spare brand new one sitting around and it did the same thing as the old one.

I unplugged router and modem for a minute, replugged modem then router back in and laptop still will not connect to router. I can connect to internet if don't use router and connect from modem to laptop. I do not think anything is wrong with her router or any plug-in connections because I have no problem connecting to her router with my own laptop or my wifes laptop! I have a Dell ( VISTA ) and a Dell ( XP ). I'm thinking maybe wirless card in my daughter's Tobisha could be the problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Linksys WRT120N router was working fine for all of 1 and 1/2 months and suddenly it stopped making the internet connection. At first nothing could access the internet but now that I've reset the router (via the little reset button in the back) my Kindle can access the wireless, but of course no password etc. I actually don't know how to put back the username and password for it. When router is connected: When I troubleshoot the connection by clicking on "Repair Connection" it takes about 2-5 mins "obtaining a new network address" then I get an error saying "The wired connection to your router was not automatically repaired. X Local network: Not connected.

My modem and router are always on.Last night I was using the internet, no problems. This morning I woke up to find "No Internet Access".My computer was connecting to the router just fine, but the router was showing a orange Earth symbol on the front (not green).I connected the computer directly to the modem and internet works just fine. After powering off both the modem and router and checking all the connections ... still the router is not "reading" the internet from the modem. And still the internet is there if I connect the modem directly to the computer (that's how I am online and posting this right now).

There is nothing wrong with the router as all my other wifi devices still work on the network (xbox 360, flatmates laptop etc.) so I assume its something to do with my laptop.I have tried restarting the router and it hasnt worked, neither have any of the windows tools. I have run ipconfig/all while the the connection was down and will post the report at the end of this post (I am currently connected to the internet with an ethernet cable).I have checked that all my drivers are up to date and they are so I dont think that is the problem either. I even called my internet provider and they couldn't figure it out. His internet worked perfectly fine when it was on safe mode with networking. I even disabled his firewalls and I ran malewarebytes but found nothing. I thought this was just his computer but then a day later my computer is doing the same thing! my computer has worked perfectly fine for over a year on the same router and everything but now it has the same exact symptoms as his. I don't know if this is a router issue or not. .

View 3 Replies View RelatedA Dell Inspiron laptop (2011) with Windows 7, will not connect to the internet. Wireless network shows good connectivity and I tried plugging in my ethernet cable between the router and my Dell and it didn't work. My desktop and other devices (Wii, other laptops, itouch) can connect wirelessly without a problem. I have had this laptop for about a year and it has worked perfectly until today. I was using the internet an hour prior to shutting down the system. When I restarted it an hour later the wireless connection was there, but there was an error saying that I could not connect to the internet. I tried restarting the router and the system and nothing worked. Could this be a hardware problem with the network card? I have been using the network card heavily for internet gaming and noticed that the laptop has been getting very hot.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLast night, my wireless router suddenly stopped working. I no longer saw my router listed in my available wireless networks, and neither could my girlfriend from her computer. I unplugged the router to see if one of the available networks had disappeared in case my router had somehow been reset, and nothing changed so my computer isnt even seeing my router. Right now, I am wired through the router so I know the router works, but the wireless part doesnt for some reason. I was looking up stuff in the FAQ, and think the firmware is corrupted since the LEDs are all blinking. I was trying to update my firmware following the instructions I found using tftp.exe, however it failed. One problem is that I can't set up a static IP address since I need to access the web-based utility to check my DNS server but I cannot access the web-based utility anymore (maybe cause of the corrupted firmware?). On a related note, there is someone else in my building using a linksys with the default network name of linksys. I had changed my network's name and security-protected it, though that is all likely gone now since I tried to reset the router. My question is what will the network name of my router be if I saw it since "linksys" is already taken. or will there just be two of them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have WRT54G connected to a cable modem for internet service. Came home at lunch yesterday and all was working fine. Came home after work last night and couldn't connect to the internet. Called Charter cable this morning and their troubleshooting showed I can connect to the internet fine if I bypass the router, so the issue must be with the router (and of course not their problem...). How do I trouble shoot this? I've tried powering down the router and releasing and renewing IP addresses but it hasn't worked.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router that has stopped working. All it will do is all 4 of the Ethernet port lights on the front light up solid green along with the Internet light. Is there any hope of fixing this?
It wouldn't make that much of a difference, but I already purchased a new LInksys Cisco EA3500, but I cannot get it to do my port forwarding. I have tried everything and nothing works. Have spent hours on the phone with tech support with no solution. My old WRT54GS just simply worked. The port forwarding worked perfect. I have tried the exact same setup in the new EA3500 and no luck no matter what I try.
So, is there anything I can do to get the old WRT54GS working? I have tried holding the reset button in for 1 minute and then unplugging it
My M20 Valet Plus stopped working suddenly last night. Now no power lights will come on and it now longer transmitts as a connection point . No apparent sign that it's alive. I've owned it troublefree for just over a year, but it is out of warranty. Any way to tell if there is hope of reviving it or if I'm just out of luck? Nothing happened at my end to cause this -- no power interruptions or other odd occurrences.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy belkin wireless dual band router just stopped broadcasting on the 2.4 band. The 5 band still worked (my wife's phone could still connect to it no problem). My cell is a motorola Razr maxx and only works on the 2.4. I have an app (wifi analyzer) that allows me to see what is happening with my network - specifically when i would try to connect to my network - my network name would be listed but as soon as I hit "connect" it would disappear. Only to come back into the list saying "MYNETWORK saved, secured WPA/WPA2". Every time I would try to connect same thing. Contemporaneously, I would check the network activity using wifi analyzer and could see that roughly each time I tried to connect to my network - it would drop off completely.Ok - after scouring the internet - it does seem that a wireless router can stop broadcasting on the 2.4 and still have the 5 band work. (btw - my pc is hardwired through the router and is not affected). So I bought a new Linksys 3500 dual band router. I installed it and it has worked fine....up until yesterday. Now I have the same problem. While my wife's phone still works on the 5 band it will not work on the 2.4. In fact nothing will work on the 2.4. Could I have just bought a crappy router?I'm not sure what pertinent info to list...Cell Stratosphere - works on 5 band not 2.4Cell Android razr maxx - will not connect on 2.4 (5 is not an option)Kindle - can not connect on 2.4Roku - can not connect on 2.4Tivo - can not connect on 2.4Older Linksys modem works with no problem.PC (sefl-built) running Windows 7 64 bit (w/ Norton) is not having any problems with connectivity - as it is hard-wired into the router.I've switched the 2.4 broadcast channel from 1 through 11. Nothing.I've cycled both the modem and the router about a dozen times - does not fix the issue.I have reset the router back to factory settings 3 times - no fixI am using WPA/WPA2 - but I have changed the router to run as unprotected - nothing changes.I've even out of desperation gone back and tried restoring my system to earlier restore points just to see if anything would happen. zilch. So did i just catch some bad luck by buying a faulty router?
