Also one more thing I can see that ACS 5.3 generates lots of logs is there any solution to reduce such logs. It seems many unuseful logs which are system related are getting logged into device which might no be good for memory requirements of device.
is there any method to control an access to the different WLAN(PEAP) on the same ACS 5.2 and WLC?That is, there is two AD groups the one have access to domain network only the other group have access to internet only and may be third group that have access to both networks.Currently if i add new authorization policy the user will have access to both networks.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to share the My Documents folder from an XP machine with ONLY one user (the administrator) on a networked Win 7 machine. I have turned off simple sharing on the XP machine. I hate XP!! So complicated to do anything. Anyway, under security, I have tried share this folder, and not to share folder. I have gone into Advanced and messed around with permissions, taking out Everyone, using Admin only, using Network. At one point I ended up not being able to access My Documents on the local computer and had to jump through many hoops to change ownership and disable read only so that the user could use her own files! The problem is, under Advanced in the permissions area, I cannot see the users on the remote pc to choose which one should be allowed access. how to actually find a particular user on the Win 7 pc and give ONLY that user permission to read (not to change) the files in My Documents on the XP pc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBecause of limited budget and a paranoid boss, the MS Access database at work is running through a simple Linksys wireless E2000 N router rather than a more dedicated server setup.A desktop server PC is storing the Access database and 3-4 laptops are connecting to the split database linked tables via laptop wireless N adapters only.Upon having several people accessing and updating records we've noticed a huge amount of instability frequent network interruptions.I have several theories/observations:
1) While not an ideal location (one end of the building), signal strength is consistently shown as 4/5 bars to 5/5 bars, even through several walls
2) Interference: Several other routers, all on 2.4Ghz could be creating too much interference. (none of the laptops support 5Ghz)
3) Number of individuals accessing the database at one time. This is where I'm unclear. Could having 3-4 people working on the database at once pose any potential problems? I'd ordinarily think not but I am coming up short with explanations.
Last week two of us were working with the database, updating records and such, from probably 100 ft or more away with no issues. Then the last few days just to stay connected requires being within 5-10 feet of the router AT MOST. No settings have been changed and network disconnects/interruptions in Access are happening every few minutes.
Our company has a Server in the office to which we all map network drives. This server is backed up to a Cloud Server (egnyte.com). Whenever I am working on a database on the mapped network drive, it freezes up after 5-10 minutes with the alert "Your network access was interrupted. To continue, close the database, and then open it again."
This problem does not occur with any other Office Products, only Access. It happens to all databases on the server and to all users.
It does not do this when the file is saved on my desktop or when I am working on it directly through the cloud server. When working on the cloud server, however, I went to Compact and Repair my database and a window came up saying the file location did not exist and my whole database disappeared. It was already saved in the file location, I was just compacting and repairing.
Is there some problem with using a local server that backs up to a cloud that makes it lose connectivity every few minutes? Why is this only happening with Access?
I have a client that has 3 AP541N's and they want to enable guest wireless access. However, their VOIP provider has their managed switches locked down so we can't add VLANs, etc.So I cannot touch the switch or router config on this LAN.
Looking into AP541N documentation I see VAPs mentioned, can I enable those and have secure guest wireless access with the same private IPs that the rest of the LAN use right now? (That is, the employees are 192.168.2.x and the guest wireless users would also be 192.168.2.x.)
Or do I need to do something else to properly enable guest wireless? Like add another piece of equipment? I did try to add a Cisco RVS4000 to the mix but it wouldn't pass the VLAN across the switches that I setup for the guest wireless SSID. goal is to leave the switch and router in place, and work with the AP541N's that I have and get secure guest wireless.
I have two networks joined together via a VPN (two dd-wrt routers).I can ping and access certain devices on the host network from the client network. However, I can not access any windows shares. It says it can not connect.

The client has its IP address set automatically by the HOMENET wireless router, along with a manually set gateway address to route internet signals through the host computer rather through the router. I am new to Windows 7 and have not been able to set up the client to see or share files between the host and client when connected by wireless. When connected by a LAN connection to the router, I can see both computers and share files between them, but have not been able to connect to the internet. The Win 7 machine can connect directly to RESNET and access the internet that way but the incoming signal averages about 45% which is far below the level needed for acceptable use.
every once in awhile we have a machine that seems to just lose the ability to access network shares and networked printers. The way I have been "fixing" the issue is to join a workgroup temporarily and restart computer and rejoin the domain.
I understand this is probably not the best fix available, but I am not sure what is causing the problem and/or what a better solution to this problem is.
why this happens and how best to solve this without just rejoining the domain?

I’ve been asked to spec out the correct size UPS to support all of the network equipment for this new office.I went to the Cisco website and I see on the datasheet for the switches and router where they talk about the wattages and BTU’s but how can I go about deciphering from that information what my total wattage and BTU will be for each switch and router? What numbers should I be looking at? For instance, we have 3 3750 48 port PoE switches. So if I look at the datasheet for that switch they have 4 different columns, one for 100% throughput power consumption, one for 5% throughput, another one for 100% throughput for max PoE load and one for 5% throughput with 50% PoE loads? Is there a common method for deremining UPS requipments? For the switches I pretty sure I need to assume max PoE load in the event every port has a phone plugged into each port.

I've some VPN encryption method questions. Is it recommended to use different encryption algorithms for both VPN phases (phase 1 and phase 2)?I’ve read once that it is much secure to use different encryption algorithms for each phase. In my opinion, I would go for the AES256 algorithm in both phases. But maybe it is a better idea to use AES128 or AES192 in the first phase and AES-256 in the second phase… I don't know. After saying this, I’m also wondering about the best VPN encryption setup for a site-to-site VPN (IKEv2) when using a Cisco ASA like the 5510, 5520 or the 5515.Which encryption method is recommended for phase 1 and phase 2Which PFS / DH-group should be used (considering CPU load and security)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded my company's network significantly, and in the process removed our Cisco edge routers and firewalls (gasp!), and replaced them with another vendor who gave a better price point for the router. However, i was only able to get ONE edge router, whereas before I had two, so I want to recycle one of my old 2921's as a cold standby (in case the brown sticky stuff hits the rotating air distribution blades, and $other-vendor router dies).Trouble is, the 2921 does not, I believe, have sufficient system resources to take the full routing table we're getting from our two ISP's.What I would like to ask is people's thoughts on the best method for me to configure the BGP setup on the 2921 to do the following:
-Accept the default route from each ISP and discard *everything* else in the route table
-Modify our advertisement (ad prepend) out the "secondary" ISP to reduce the priority of traffic coming in over this link.
-Configure the OUTBOUND priorities so that the "primary" link is used by preference for outgoing traffic (which will effectively shut down the secondary link for outbound traffic
