Micro-cells To Boost Cellular Signals In An Office?
May 1, 2012
My company gets horrible service for our company-provided AT&T iphones. So, at this time - I am looking for microcells to boost our AT&T signal. We currently have some macrocell in place, but the problem is that its authentication-based. I want every person - whether its an executive, guest, thief, bystander, WHOMEVER to get a better AT&T signal when they step into our office building.
I have a Wi-Fi booster that can connect to remote distance networks, and I want to share the Wireless Networks that the booster connects to all the local computers in its range (maybe in Ad-Hoc?). The computer that has the booster has it's own separate built-in Wi-Fi.
For example, the booster gets a signal from Wi-Fi network A, and I want Network A to be broadcast to the computers who can't receive Network A's signal. I really don't mind how this is done, preferably without having to buy new hardware.
We have a ASA 5505 setup with VPN and using Cisco client 5.0. The VPN works without a problem if we use normal internet access (from home, motel, etc). However if we use a cellular wi-fi hotspot or tether a phone it will connect to the vpn but will not allow us to get on the office network

I have a WLC 4404. I added a new AP to the network and it is associated with the WLC now. But still its not braodcasting the ssids. I compared the configuration with the ones installed before and configuration is same.
i am working on a project called Networked control of inverted pendulum.i have done my simulations in matlab as a hardware perspective.i have to establish a network in a micro-controller board connect sensor actuator controller nodes from the board to the network.
I have IOS content filtering using the Trend Micro subscription service working on a 2911 running 15.1.(3)T3 with the security license option and a 30 day demo Trend subscription. Once I figured out that the content filtering for Trend appears to be completely broken in 15.2 (even using docs for 15.2) I went back to 15.1 and it works great.
Everything seems great so far except I would like to have a more 'fancy' or custom blocked page where a user can have a couple links to either go to the trend micro reporting page [URL] or some other page, and maybe some branding so they know the page is coming from our network and is not some fake security thing or phishing attempt or whatever.
I know I can use the 'parameter-map type urlf policy trend ' section to do a tiny bit of customization of the text that appears on the default blocked page display and there is an option for it to go to a simple redirect instead ('block-page redirect -url') but how to do more with either the built in page or the redirect- url to keep the information of what page the user was trying to access and why it was blocked (category etc.) while adding more features.
Oh, one last thing, this doesn't support any kind of 'user override' or anything like that does it? So that a network can have a filter applied but an admin could override the filtering to allow temporary access to something?
I recently deployed this module on Cisco ASA 5520 (v8.2.5) at a client's place. I'm having problems. Even if there's 1 user, browsing Internet is super slow. If I were to bypass the CSC SSM (for 10 users) module by removing the "service-policy TEST interface inside" command, browsing Internet is very fast. Based on my troubleshooting, if I were to disable Web Filtering, Web Reputation and URL Blocking & Filtering, and leave all other services enabled, then the browsing is fast. how come I enable the 3 services stated above and browsing the Internet is slow, even for 1 LAN user. I don't have any thing configured under these 3 services. Just by enabling the services alone, it's already slow. It doesn't make sense for Cisco to sell such an expensive product and it can't even handle 1 user with no settings but services enabled.

I've been able to activate and configure the Cisco 819 router to connect to Verizon via interface Cellular 0 but when I connect a laptop to the router, int Cell 0 goes down.
Here's a snippet of what happens after I connect a laptop:
rt1#ping 8.8.8.8 Type escape sequence to abort. Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 8.8.8.8, timeout is 2 seconds:
I operate a network of sites for a state air monitoring program. One site has two trailers that were previously connected with a wireless ethernet bridge. I installed a cellular router to give them internet access, and they were both able to utilize the connection through the LAN. The ethernet bridge recently went down, and I tried replacing it with a standard wireless router and wireless adapter I purchased from Staples (I needed something right away). When I linked the two trailers with a wireless network connection, it disconnected the LAN and I was unable to access the internet. Is it possible to do this? I'm assuming a wireless ethernet bridge would be better, and also the cellular router does not have a wireless function on it, or I would assume that would be best?
We're seeing a strange issue with a Cisco 819 that we're testing out. We are able to ping out over the Cellular interface just fine, but as soon as we plug a device into one of the FastEthernet ports we immediately drop the cell connection. The Cell interface then continues to bounce until we unplug the device. We are intending to setup a VPN tunnel, but we've even stripped all that out for the sake of troubleshooting.
The tunnel connection is establishing correctly but when i change the priority in he hsrp configuration of my gig 0.1 interface to be the active on this router the cellular 0/0/0 interface goes down, by the way this is going to be my redundancy.
I have a 2801 router with a HWIC-3G-cdma card that I have inherited from a predicessor. How to use a cellular card on a router and need to get this thing up and running. Any example config that I can see or point me in the right dorection to get this up and running? I have the cellular card set up as Cellular0/1/0 on the interface, I assume that that was done by default, and it has an IP address. The Static Route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Cellular0/1/0, in the config with only 2 other interfaces as being direct connection. But that is as far as I recognize. Do I need to set up a router protocol? Which one? How do I use the cellular card? Do I need to have an ISP connection?
I have an issue regarding using cellular interface on cisco 881G. The 3G module is Aircard 504. SIMcard is working on other devices, it have obtain IP address from mobile operator. But on cisco881G it doesnt work.
I'm having extreme issues in getting my vpn client to connect to a cisco router with a hwic-3g-hspa cellular interface
I have tested the config remotely by traversing the tunnel I have setup with a cisco vpn client and the client does connect, however when out on the road it doesn't respond, I'm litterally hitting my head against a brick here, everything just seem right I can't explain it.
I have done debugs and there is no sign of life, its as though when the vpn client connects to the router its not responding any way here is my config for the vpn clients part that is.

I have a Cisco 881G with PCEX-HSPA-3G card for which I have successfully configured for internet. As the above one has come to end of life, we got the replacement 881G with embedded 3G modem.
I can't get Cellular 0 to use ppp encapsulation:
Router(config-if)#encapsulation ppp Cellular0: Only SLIP encapsulation supported Router(config-if)#
I have problem with HWIC-3G-GSM configuration. The cellular interface doesn't get IP from ISP.The configured profile is always inactive.cellular 0/2/0 gsm profile create 1 m2m.plusgsm.pl chap plusgsm plusgsm
Can Cisco 881G cellular interface (Modem Firmware Version = K2_0_7_19AP C:/WS/FW) work with r-uim cards? I can't find correct answer in documentation .
I would like to configure the 881G to use both the cellular interface and Fe4 WAN port for internet connectivity.Interface Fe4 is connected to an ADSL router.
I have configure each interface with a default route and weighting:
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Dialer0 200 ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 FastEthernet 4 100
I need to configure Fe4 to get an address as a DHCP client:
interface FastEthernet4 ip address dhcp no shut duplex auto speed auto
How do I remove Fe4 from VLAN1? There is some existing config around VLAN 1:
interface Vlan1 ip address 10.73.0.1 255.255.255.0 ip helper-address 192.168.140.13 ip tcp adjust-mss 1400 no autostate ip sla 100 icmp-echo 10.64.4.15 source-interface Vlan1 tag 3G Keepalive frequency 10
Then I guess I need to adjust my Internet-IN ACL to allow broadcasts and UDP 67 and 68?
I got a Cisco C880 router( IOS version: 15.1(2)T1 ) with PCEX-3G-HSPA-G card installed When I insert my 3G card and issue show cellular 0 network, I found that the network is not my 3G card ISP, may i ask how can I manual select the ISP?
I am working at a client site today. This specific client has decided to replace their legacy 2600 branch office routers with newer 1921 ISR G2 routers as they move from a Legacy Frame WAN to a MPLS network with a different provider.
The backup in the former scenario was actually an ISDN solution. Moving forward, the provider has sold them a 3G backup solution. To support this, we have purchased Cisco line cards for the 3G. The part number for the cards is "EHWIC-3G-EVDO-V=".
I was asked by the client this morning if there was a way to tell what the IMEI number for the 3G card was. I performed a shew inventory, as well as a shew hardware, but I do not see this IMEI number. I also checked the label on the packaging box that the cards came in, but do not see this number. Is there a way to tell what this number is for each card?
What is the easiest way to boost the the signal from a wireless router(1 year old), weak signal going into a different room. Yes has to go around a wall into another room.
I have a wireless router that rests across the house next to the modem. The signal is too weak to reach to the other side of the house. Is there a way to boost the signal so I can get wifi from across the house or any other way to get an internet connection without several fifty foot wires going across the house?
Im on BT broadband, and have 2 phonelines in my house. the broadband was on phoneline A. However, to save money we shut down phoneline A and switched to phoneline B. However, the signal quality on B has dropped like a stone. The Downstream speeds are normal, but the download speed is 0.24, compared to the 2.05 it was before. Yesterday i rang BT to tell about the problem, and after 30 minutes of 'checking' they decided to put our broadband on a higher profile? and reassured me that this would sort our problem. Our downstream speeds now read 0.13. Its made the problem a lot worse.
I recently switched providers and now i'm down to a 1.5 MBPS download speed (advertised at 3 MBPS but our area is only serviced for half that) so I'm trying to find something that will smooth out the capabilities of my PC's with streaming videos and such for my nephew on sites like disney.com and other sites. I can post specs later if you guys need em but one PC which I know its issue, it is around 10 years old so I'm not expecting great performance. The knew one though is only a year old with 1GB DDR2 Ram and windows XP Home. The older one has 512MB Ram....I think its SD with windows XP pro. Again I can post full stats later if needed but not really trying to trouble shoot. More looking to boost. We run 2 computers and a Wii off our wireless modem. I'm curious if somehow the computers could be configured to operate on seperate...ports I guess to minimize the lag on the modem. We are noticing that if one computer is downloading something it cause the second computer to lag or makes streaming anything all but impossible.
