Sharing :: Setup A Home Network For Primarily Sharing Music / Pictures And Videos?
Jun 22, 2011I wanted to setup a home network for primarily sharing my music, pictures and videos.I have a PS3 which can stream the video/music and display the pictures from a media server to my TV.I was wondering between NAS and a desktop computer? and wanted to know which was the better or cheaper solution? (2 much 2 ask for both)
Main Issues
--Will NAS work with PS3?
--Incase of a computer, i know i will be able to use logmein or gotomypc to Download files directly to that machine even when im not home and when i do get home its ready to go. Can the same be achieved with a NAS?What else should i consider? i.e. pros and cons of both.

Jul 5, 2011recently i was trying to share files between two computers using a networking switch.(windows xp) I tried using network setup wizard on the host computer it only gave me two drive options f drive and the floppy disc drive. so i selected f drive to copy files. I inserted a cd and clicked next but nothing happened. i tried clicking format button and it asked me to 'insert a cd to f drive' so I avoided the format button.My computer has a backup system which someone installed and im not too sure about it so I was wondering if f drive was referring to the backup system (sort of looks like an external hard drive with lights on it connected to modem) or maybe referring to usb port. I did not try using my usb yet. The second pc I noticed did not have network setup wizard on control panel and was not sure if i needed it. I heard that a router has a firewall and is more safer than using a networking switch. at this stage i dont need internet connection for the second pc

Oct 19, 2011Ive had the WRT160Nv3 for a while and its all been great but recently ive had some issues.Im not sure if this is my ISP but the connection to the router drops out or i lose connection to the internet.I thought the firmware was out of date so i updated to 3.03 from 3.02 and it doesnt seem to fix the problem. what it did was create new problem. now when you edit settings it says >> JAVASCRIPT; true or if i try to edit port forwording it wont save the data i enter.This was all brought to my attention when I tried to connect to my wireless and my SSID was not what i set it as, the router had some way been reset. could something of happened to the router for it to be acting all crazy.

Cellular And Wireless Router On Same Network?
Apr 10, 2012I operate a network of sites for a state air monitoring program. One site has two trailers that were previously connected with a wireless ethernet bridge. I installed a cellular router to give them internet access, and they were both able to utilize the connection through the LAN. The ethernet bridge recently went down, and I tried replacing it with a standard wireless router and wireless adapter I purchased from Staples (I needed something right away). When I linked the two trailers with a wireless network connection, it disconnected the LAN and I was unable to access the internet. Is it possible to do this? I'm assuming a wireless ethernet bridge would be better, and also the cellular router does not have a wireless function on it, or I would assume that would be best?

Apr 25, 2013We're seeing a strange issue with a Cisco 819 that we're testing out. We are able to ping out over the Cellular interface just fine, but as soon as we plug a device into one of the FastEthernet ports we immediately drop the cell connection. The Cell interface then continues to bounce until we unplug the device. We are intending to setup a VPN tunnel, but we've even stripped all that out for the sake of troubleshooting.

Mar 7, 2011I have a 2801 router with a HWIC-3G-cdma card that I have inherited from a predicessor. How to use a cellular card on a router and need to get this thing up and running. Any example config that I can see or point me in the right dorection to get this up and running? I have the cellular card set up as Cellular0/1/0 on the interface, I assume that that was done by default, and it has an IP address. The Static Route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Cellular0/1/0, in the config with only 2 other interfaces as being direct connection. But that is as far as I recognize. Do I need to set up a router protocol? Which one? How do I use the cellular card? Do I need to have an ISP connection?

Apr 28, 2011I'm having extreme issues in getting my vpn client to connect to a cisco router with a hwic-3g-hspa cellular interface
I have tested the config remotely by traversing the tunnel I have setup with a cisco vpn client and the client does connect, however when out on the road it doesn't respond, I'm litterally hitting my head against a brick here, everything just seem right I can't explain it.
I have done debugs and there is no sign of life, its as though when the vpn client connects to the router its not responding any way here is my config for the vpn clients part that is.

The backup in the former scenario was actually an ISDN solution. Moving forward, the provider has sold them a 3G backup solution. To support this, we have purchased Cisco line cards for the 3G. The part number for the cards is "EHWIC-3G-EVDO-V=".
I was asked by the client this morning if there was a way to tell what the IMEI number for the 3G card was. I performed a shew inventory, as well as a shew hardware, but I do not see this IMEI number. I also checked the label on the packaging box that the cards came in, but do not see this number. Is there a way to tell what this number is for each card?

These addressed are accessible within the university bu non routable outside on the internet. My plan is to setup a local HUB for DC++ for sharing data within the university intranet. So even if internet is unavailable data can be exchanged through LAN. This HUB must not be accessable outsied the university network.how should I do this all..implementing network sharing other than DC++. My basic idea is that everybody can share their data and the data is searchable from one common interface( Web interface is better option, if possible). And data featching should prefferably be from many hosts, using multiple connections so that speed can be improved..
