View 1 RepliesBought a new ASUS RT-N65R the other day, tried following all the steps to hook it up and get my home network going but to no avail. None of the PCs on the network were able to connect to the internet. Tried switching back to my old router, a NETGEAR N300, and it no longer connects. Was working fine until I tried swapping to the new router. When connected to the ASUS router, ipconfig shows my IP address as 169x instead of the 192.168.x.x like it should be. PC connects to the internet just fine when plugged directly into the cable modem, a Cisco DPC3010.

i can file/printer share no worries but can't share the internet connection. I've tried everything I can think of!
I'm using: mobile partner dashboard 16.001.06.01.500 xp 32bit on all systems
tried enabling share this internet connection. tried setting up ad-hoc. Tried manual ip settings.

If I connect the Asus router to the Ubee router, is my Asus router going to take control? It appears as though it's handeling DCHP, but what about things like port forwarding? Am I going to run into trouble by having both routers? Is there any settings I should make in the Ubee router, or just leave it be?
I use to have a DIR-655 and dap-1522 both worked without any issues. I recently upgraded to Asus RT-n56u and now I want to setup the dap-1522 with it.I have no issues with the Asus RT-n56u everything seems to work fine here the problem seems to be with the dap-1522 where it connects but then disconnects almost instantly.
1) Connect dap-1522 with my desktop computer via Ethernet
2) Change the LAN settings for tcp/ip v4 to manual IP
3) I set the manual IP to 192.168.0.60/ subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway to 192.168.0.50
4) I open my web browser and connect to 192.168.0.50 and I see the dlink page and I log in fine.
5)I tried going through the wizard, picked manual and have tried both the 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz bands they are set up as WPA-Auto Personal and I enter in my password. It says settings will be saved
6) The page refreshes to the wireless one but I don't see any options here just the save config one. When I go to status sometimes it says its connected but sometimes it just says it's not I try to unplug from my desktop and take it over to where my apple tv is but it never works..One thing I should note is my asus is connected to 192.168.1.X so do I need to change the dap-1522 to 192.168.1.50? instead of 0.50?
I wanted to know whether Huawei EC159 usb modem is compatible with ASUS router RT-N56U as I want to be sure before going for it..!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a ASUS AC66 router plugged into my Comcast cable modem (regular dumb modem), it's running the Merlin (OEM-modified) firmware.I've got a Netgear 3400 router flashed with DD-WRT (latest build), it's a replacement for another N router that died on me.
Anyways, I went to set client bridge like always. Main router is 192.168.1.1 so I set DD-WRT router as 192.168.1.2, set the wireless modes to client bridge with matching SSIDs for my 2.4/5GHz radios, input the correct security keys on the security page (AES), then I put the router in router mode (from gateway) Basically, I followed the instructions on DD-WRT's website, which worked perfectly until the other router died.
This time around as soon as the DD-WRT router reboots with its bridge information saved it immediately causes some sort of conflict on my network and kills the internet and all network connections. All devices lose their IP address. It's like the DD-WRT router is somehow shutting down the network and my default router.
I wanted to setup a home network for primarily sharing my music, pictures and videos.I have a PS3 which can stream the video/music and display the pictures from a media server to my TV.I was wondering between NAS and a desktop computer? and wanted to know which was the better or cheaper solution? (2 much 2 ask for both)
Main Issues
--Will NAS work with PS3?
--Incase of a computer, i know i will be able to use logmein or gotomypc to Download files directly to that machine even when im not home and when i do get home its ready to go. Can the same be achieved with a NAS?What else should i consider? i.e. pros and cons of both.
How do I setup a E3200 router using a wireless USB modem to connect to the internet? This is my only choice, I do not have a wired connection and I do not own the telephone wires and there is no permission to do otherwise.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a Canyon CN-FW514 wireless router through a Thomson modem. When I first started trying, I could get up the set-up screen on [URL] however this is as far as I got; the laptop said it had a very strong signal with the wireless connection, but I could not get any web pages to open (windows explorer couldn't detect any problems either). The Thomson modem works when I conect it to the laptop via the ethernet cable, but that's not much use to me trying to use the internet elsewhere in the house!I tried changing the IP address, subnet mask and gateway IP address on the set-up screen [URL] which seems to have been a big mistake; I now can't even get the set-up screen to appear.I've reset the internet options and have set everything to obtain the IP address automatically but am still having no luck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my family has an E2000 setup near the modem in a room that litterally is a DEADZONE, signal bearly gets in or out of this room. I've argued until I was blue in the face that we ned to rewire the internets inlet to the house in to another room that isn't a deadzone and rune a router from there. They IT disadvantaged refused. We have also an E2500 they say hook it up, maybe it will work better (when your in a concrete and mettal room with a router sitting on a shelf surrounded by book and with a corless phone system hooks up and sitting on top of it... its jsut not going to work. is there a way i can take the E2500 and make it an access point for the E2000?
I figure if I can I would take the E2500 and put int in a better location and jsut have it relay the E2000 internet. Because of the IT limited thought process of most of the people living here I'd prefer that they share the same SSID or atleast make for a simple transition for the apes I live with.
I have two ASUS UL80 laptops and trying to copy files from one to another. I also have a Linksys router with WiFI on.
The speed of a file transfer via router + LAN cable (or only the LAN cable) is about 600KB/s. I tried to turn off firewalls on both PC's, but it increases the speed by only 100KB/s.
if it is possible to access a modem setup page with a E4200 router? My router is on 192.168.254.200 and modem(WAG-200G) is on 192.168.254.100, ethernet cable is on internet port on the e4200 and on port1 on the modem. Modem is set is bridge and I set up a ppoe and dhcp on router. Everything is ok, except that i can not access modem setup page to see adsl conection speed and settings.

I recently switched from dsl to cable. I have a e2000 router that I would still like to use. The modem I have is a Motorola Surfboard SB6121. It has no options that I can modify. The modem has a built in DHCP server. However, I can't modify it and I don't like the ip configuration it uses. For the time being I have the modem connected to a switch which is working fine. What I would like to know is how to configure the e2000 to use the modems connection. I used PPPoE for DSL and had login information.
View 2 Replies View Relatedrecently i was trying to share files between two computers using a networking switch.(windows xp) I tried using network setup wizard on the host computer it only gave me two drive options f drive and the floppy disc drive. so i selected f drive to copy files. I inserted a cd and clicked next but nothing happened. i tried clicking format button and it asked me to 'insert a cd to f drive' so I avoided the format button. My computer has a backup system which someone installed and im not too sure about it so I was wondering if f drive was referring to the backup system (sort of looks like an external hard drive with lights on it connected to modem) or maybe referring to usb port. I did not try using my usb yet. The second pc I noticed did not have network setup wizard on control panel and was not sure if i needed it. I heard that a router has a firewall and is more safer than using a networking switch. at this stage i dont need internet connection for the second pc

My son and daughter-in-law use the wireless and I use the direct connect. M son added a router (which I have no idea what that does) and set up networking on his computer (which I also have no idea what that does). When I am the only one on the computer, it flys. When either of them get on thiers too, it slowes a little. When both of them get on, I might as well get off because it can take up to three and a half minutes to load a page.

I would like to be able to see everyone on the network. How do I setup the routers in particular the router with the vpn which is the last router. Also the vpn router is connected through its WAN port to the router ahead of it at its lan port so it can use its VPN connection. If it makes it easier lets ignore the cable modem as router and ill find the printer another way of connecting but essentially i need the two other routers for two ip addresses. One for the first router with my regular IP and then the other is for VPN IP.

I want to get their new kindle to work and can not seem to figure it out. Their operating system is Vista which I can upgrade to Windows 7 if that would make it easier. When I click on setup the WiFi part of the installation wizard cd that came with the Motorola it says there is not a network adapter. I know what that is however I do not know why I would need it when the desktop is hooked directly into modem/router and I just need the WiFi for Kindle.
