Our church computer isp is WildBlue.They tested the satellite connection as well as the modem.Everything is fine from that end, however, I get a 'server not found' error message.I was told by WildBlue that they cannot see an ip address for the computer. How do I fix this so that we can have the internet back? The computer has WIN XP.
View 3 RepliesI've installed a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with ADDS, DNS and DHCP server.Everything is configured correctly and running fine when I use an independent network.When I uninstall the DHCP on the server and connect it to my primary network with a Linux router (ClearOS) handling DHCP i get an error message on the client computer when trying to boot with PXE."PXE-E76: Bad or missing multicast discovery address".What do I need to do to make this work with my Linux router? Some port that has to be forwarded internally from the router to the WDS server?

In the end host tabe we see only the MAC-Addresses of the host connected to this switch. No IP-Address. The corresponding IP-Addresses are in the ARP-Table of this non Cisco Layer-3 Device. The arp table can also be read by snmp. Is it possible to get the ip address in the UT End Host Table in such an environment?

- it connects automatically to the wifi
- but it has a little error mark on it
- and it says theres no internet access.
ive tried everything, ive ran several windows network diagnostics and it says the problem is the default gateway being unavailable.
A couple hours ago, I set up a temporary AdHoc to share or "tether" the internet connection from a laptop (which got its internet from a router), to my iPod Touch. It worked fine and everything, in fact I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of it. Since it was a temporary AdHoc, I disconnected, and the network was deleted as expected. After a while I wanted to do it again, but when I tried to make the AdHoc, the option to "Share Internet Connection" has disappeared. I'm really puzzled as it worked just a while back, and now even the option is gone. Did some research on it and found out that it's some weird bug that had never been addressed. It had to do with the LAN and Wireless network adapters apparently and one of them had to have the ICS option checked and the other one didn't (something like that). Here are the screenshots of those settings on both my network adapters. Both adapters are enabled, except the LAN isn't "connected" since my primary way of getting internet is through a router connected to another computer.

The network card driver is a 1394 Net Adapter. The driver appears to be working correctly, but it's not getting packets in or out. The setup seems to be missing the required Q0S Packet Adapter, but Windows won't let me install it.

This is issue is with my Dell laptop that--up till an hour ago--had a wireless area connection icon in the lower right corner and a Wireless Area Network option when I went to "Network Connections" (I still have my LAN option.) I was using a Driver Whiz program to update all my drivers when it said I needed some Intel Wireless Config program. So I downloaded it but at the end I had no Internet access and no icon, etc. So I uninstalled that program but it was too late. I've even tried a system restore to a few hours prior to this mistake of mine to no avail. My husband says I need to connect hardwire to the Internet and download a WAN driver...is that correct?

It was part of a domain when I first started working on it, and I'm trying to get it for use just as a personal PC. It connects to a dock, and that's where the Internet connection is. I've tried wired and wireless, both show connected. I can ping the computer's IP address, the gateway, and the router, and any other IP address out on the Internet that I have tried.

Upon connecting the cables, all the lights are OK, however, during the installation, my pc cannot find the router. I read that supposedly the IP addresses of my PC and the router should be the same. I have 3 laptops, normally 2 are used and a roku streaming player connected to the tv. Both laptops are on windows 7 and sometimes the wifi suddenly stops working [sometimes only stops for some devices] even though i am still connected to the my router. Some times, a popup comes up that says that windows has detected an ip address conflict, so I think that that is the problem, but when I try to do ip/release, renew, it says that the media is disconnected to wireless network connection 2 even while i can access the internet.

If I shut down my system and reboot everything works great. I spoke to HP and they said to use disk cleanup. I downloaded malware and did a quick scan. I also used the HP performance and also AVG. It was, and the problem is that my router switched to a dynamic IP after comcast installed a security system to my house. If I try to reset the router, the system goes down and takes a helluva long time to get back up. Whenever I try to switch to a static IP, however, I lose internet connection. Wondering how to fix this. Or do I have to switch back to my laptop - which might also not even work. (I'll go try that, but I'm using my desktop because it has extra RAM.)

I've done all the preliminary checks and had all the settings checked by Comcast (my internet provider) but they were not able to evaluate the problem without cost. I've been unemployed for the last two years so I need to find another option to correct this issue. Every time I attempt to connect, windows says that they are unable to renew the IP address. Limited or no connectivity is shown. I've also noticed that If I leave the home where I'm trying to connect, I'm able to connect to outside sources like Wayport or any other network without any problem. My router is a Linksys Model #WRT320N. It's working just fine with the other computers in the house. I tried cleaning out all my "preferred networks" in the wireless Network Connection Properties but that didn't work either.
